Being politically correct is ruining our society. No one will be open minded to any other ideology, religion, ways of life, and cultures because of fear of being insensitive to other people
For example: if someone had told me "happy chanukah", id reply with "merry christmas". A close minded individual would be offended but an open mind individual would take it as a positive message. The message may be pronounced different but the message being expressed is the same. Its like someone saying "hola" and you respond with "hello"; theres no need to be offended
Sorry about the wall of text
@Dknessfalls, Ron Swanson approves
@Dknessfalls, I like the way you think comrade
@Dknessfalls, don't be sorry, I feel the same way
@Dknessfalls, how does being politically correct have anything to do with any of the things you listed? I thought being politically correct had to do with politics.
@Dknessfalls, Well Said, Good Sir, Well Said
@Fucnuggets, Politically correct means that you disregard your own beliefs to please the other majority to avoid "offending" them. For example, simply saying that "The terrorists who acted out 9/11 were of Muslim faith" can offend both Americans and Muslims just because many people suddenly believe you're persecuting them.
@sombrero mop, nope. You're example doesn't work at all. Fact stating isn't politically incorrect. The incorrect version of your statement would be "I think all terrorists are Muslims because of 911"
@Dknessfalls, Well since I'm not being politically correct I'll just go ahead and say that I think all religious people are morons who have their thinking done for them. Don't down vote me! Just not tailoring my words for others!
@Gnarzz, some religious people do take it too far, others use it to better themselves as a person. A lot of the morals and respect for others i learned growing up was taught thru my religion. Not saying you need religion to be a good person, but it does help for some people.
@Dknessfalls, I can agree with you on that
@Gnarzz, Actually there's a big dofference between someone being politically incorrect and being down right rude as that comment was, that being said, praise the sun!
@Dknessfalls, No, getting offended about not being able to use close-minded or offensive language is ruining society. Not saying this is you, just others.
@Catbug, it's subjective
@Gnarzz, Calling a group of people morons is not being politically incorrect it's an insult, while saying that what they believe in is wrong is because such and such reasons. Political correctness and incorrectness are subjective yes, but not your statement. Your statement is just an insult to those people who do believe, so please don't butcher the meaning of the phrase to suit your opinion.
@Catbug, agree to disagree. How about I change it to "most" instead of "all"
@Gnarzz, Look, I don't agree to babying people who say stupid things, such as your comments thus far and those who get butt hurt when someone tells another person merry christmas and it causes an all out war. You can believe whatever you want it won't change the fact that you're using the phrase wrong. Have fun with that kiddo.
@Gnarzz, I'm agnostic, kiddo.
@Catbug, sorry about your faith, chief
@Catbug, I appreciate the clever condescension. Being politically correct is amending your words or actions despite your beliefs to be considerate to a group of people. Do I normally call religious people morons? No because that's mean. Do I feel that way? Yep
@Gnarzz, this is what happens when u put politics on funny pics
@Vasmas09, didnt Funnypics put politics on FP with this pic?
@Gnarzz, yeah thats what im saying
@Vasmas09, oh yea. For sure
@Dknessfalls, "Tear down this wall!"
@Dknessfalls, I disagree, in some cases it is taken a little far, granted, but it was based on ideas of protecting the oppressed wasn't it? I mean political correctness doesn't bother me because I'm not particularly into racism, sexism, homophobia etc...
@Dknessfalls, you predicted the future. 2018 is defined by this.
I remember being in class and trying to be super politically correct just so I never offended anyone. Man high school is dumb.
@treebeard31, I remember being in class and laughing at the politically correct people while I didn't give a fvck.
I read a book once called 'Politically Correct Fairy Tales.' It was hilarious!
@EmperorNoriJun, One of my favorite books.
Don't surgarcoat it for fat people, they'll just eat it
*waits for the bombs to start dropping*
@shakeweight, *drops f bombs while carpet bombing knowledge*
@shakeweight, don't say the word bombs! Do you know how many people have died from those things! That offended me.
And all the people said "Amen."
There's a word for that. Pussy
Or maybe everyone should just be respectful and accept everyone's differences. Cause. Ya know. We different.
I miss the good 'ol days. Say something that pisses someone off, get in a brawl, share a drink after. *sniffles*
and it's just using terms that don't have offensive connotations. it's not that hard....
@Modern Darwin, do you mean politically correct as in being afraid to mention religion in schools or as in not calling black citizens a bunch of lazy n-words. because I get that it's ridiculous to have to be afraid to reference religion but the 2nd one...
Or it's called having good social skills
@wigglebolt, No, it's called being absolutely whipped by society. Sometimes things just need to be said with no fear of consequence.
@PoliticsSniper, hope that works out for you in the real adult world👍
@PoliticsSniper, exactly, and people (especially celebrities) do it all the time these days just to get attention, and they do. That day some people gasp and throw fits, but by the next day is all forgotten.
@wigglebolt, First of all: I am not a child. Do not speak to me as if I am. I know full well what the adult world is like and do very well for myself living in it. Second of all: There is a distinct difference between being polite and being dishonest to save face. There are ways to be politically incorrect without being a jerk to people. What you have shown me is that you do not know the difference. If one has any integrity they will do and say what they believe IN A RESPECTFUL AND DEFERENTIAL MANNER. Not everyone who hates political correctness is some edgy, angsty 13-year-old who "hates society". I simply find that people should be honest with one another without fear of being called sexist, racist, etc. just because they dared to tell the truth.
@PoliticsSniper, So you're saying you need to make your point in a politically correct way. I doubt someone that makes an educated and eloquent statement in the proper setting would be called whiny and over sensitive. I have no clue what you're arguing about.
@wigglebolt, What did I just say? There is a difference between being polite and being politically correct. One can be polite AND blunt. One CANNOT be politically correct and blunt. Being politically correct is "beating around the bush" if you will. Political correctness is the antithesis of directness. Political correctness imposes upon people what is "popular" and "acceptable" to say. It directs the subject. Politeness is simply a way to make your point AND prove to people you are not ill-intentioned. Politeness encourages mutual respect, not half-truths and fake smiles like political correctness does.
@PoliticsSniper, Let me give you an example. Politeness: Please do not up vote your own comments, wigglebot, we do not appreciate that kind of dishonesty. Political correctness: Wigglebot has probably up voted his own comment by accident and by no means was trying be dishonest and give the illusion people agree with him.
@PoliticsSniper, I am a woman thanks👍 I upvote all of my comments and uploads all the time, every time.
My friend once told a new kid, who was black, and a I quote "This is Bryan. He hates n*ggers." I had to spend the next 10 minutes trying to explain to this kid the difference between a black person and a n-word.
@Krausekid99, out of curiosity what do you think the difference is?
@Lebensraum, every group of people has some people that hurts the groups reputation. The same could be said for f*gs, hicks, some religious people that go to far, etc.
This is why I can't trust the Terms and Conditions.
