@Grey Wolf 0o, That's what the movie was called in America because Philosopher's Stone is too obscure and doesn't have the same ring to it.

@Frampt, yes but the philosophers stone is a "real" mythological object, however America was deemed to not be well read enough to understand so it was changed to something more simple.
