Hah, because crusades are bad! Heh...
@Cpzombie, the crusades were just military campaigns and in all actuality brought Europe into the renaissance
@Cpzombie, if you your research you'll find that 95% of the crusades were defensive battles to protect their land. The 5% of the offensive battles were to take back the land taken from them, and a little more.
@Watermelawn , yah raping, pillaging and murdering millions of Muslims in the name of Jesus was very defensive.
@Cpzombie, They came as a defense to 600 years of Islamic Jihad. You were saying?
@Blaster Blade, they were also to take land from the Muslims. Jihads and Crusades are pretty much the same, both are said to only have been defensive by people in their religion.
@Watermelawn , that's really not how that went ... Not even a little ...

@Chimera Ant, beat me to it
@Chimera Ant, Isn't it Death in the movie?
@Chimera Ant, best song by Monty Python ever
@RetardedSeagull, depends on where you're at in the lyrics.
@Chimera Ant, *whistles*
@Chimera Ant, let life's a piece of shjt when you look at it
Yes I believe in and love humanity. With all due respect I don't need religion or a god to tell me to treat my fellow brothers and sisters with respect kindness and fairness regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, position in society and beliefs. Ya know what I mean?
@NonCaucasian Wizard , i am a christian but could never quate a single scripture. Often i find many of my athiest friends are the kindest and most rational people. And many religious people can't explain what it means to be christian.
@modern culture, we're all human. Thats the point I'm trying to make we all make mistakes no ones infallible and I think its wrong to hide behind the fabricated shield of religion to mask your wrongs. We should come together and build each other up not tear each other down. We should all help each other grow! Especially those who feel they need to shun others who are different from them! Sorry for the long winded response I just feel very strongly about this.
@NonCaucasian Wizard , I also like how your name is a very sophisticated way to say Black Mage.
@Mice are for pussies, thank you! I also like how your name implies that mice are not just for a$$holes.
@NonCaucasian Wizard , Right?
@NonCaucasian Wizard , I appreciate your noble heart. I would just like to say, however, that Christianity is not about hiding or masking your wrongs. Though I know there are some very loud extremists who use it that way. It has power and things with power will always be misused by some (ie science, government, money, etc). At it's core Christianity is about realizing your own faults and dedicating yourself to making yourself and your world better by following the example of Jesus (a perfect human being). It is about humility, service and self-sacrifice. I just wish people thought of people like Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King Jr. when they thought about Christianity.
@ caucrasian , hey believe me I know not all religious people use religion as a means to a nefarious end and not all atheists are cold analytical robots. I just feel that I don't need religion to be a good person and I'm not trying to persuade others because it doesn't matter what anyone tells me I'm not going to change my views.
@NonCaucasian Wizard , you have a strong faith in what you believe. That is admirable as well. It was not my intention to convert you or anyone else. You had simply made some claims about Christianity and I wanted to provide a different voice on that subject. I meant no offense or disrespect. I just wanted to be a part of the conversation. I personally don't see any compelling reason for moral obligation without an external standard against which to measure actions, but if you think there are that doesn't bother me and furthermore I would love to hear what they are. I'm love seeing people thinking about this stuff and I certainly don't think you are a cold, analytical robot.
I'm honestly not sure how we're supposed to take this
@Magnamon, in the groin
@Space Jesus, you actually made me lol.
As an atheist I love real Jesus and not the homophobic bigot so many people apparently believe in.
@NonCaucasian Wizard , as an atheist you probably shouldn't believe in Jesus at all.
@Space Jesus, its not that I believe in him its just that I believe in the idea of him ya know what I mean? All that hippy bs the conservatives seem to not like very much but supposedly still love him for?
@NonCaucasian Wizard , so basically you believe in who you believe Jesus (who is my brother btw) actually is, which is respectable.
@Space Jesus, he may not believe he was the son of god. But many athiest still acknowledge his teachings as contributions mankind
@modern culture, exactly!
@NonCaucasian Wizard , homophobic bigot..?
@Space Jesus, Yeah, there's evidence that the dude actually existed. He was pretty much a radical and a protester of his time, advocating for the rights of the lower classes (slaves?) and women.
People will truly only be "happy" when they can custom pick their god to suit their personal preferences. Or not have one at all.
@Pubmarine Shamwich, people already do that
There's been lots of religious flame wars on funny pics recently
Jesus could have stopped it and escaped at any time. But he didn't because it had to be apparent that nothing could live through what he went through. And when he died and rose again three days later on easter, it had that much more of an impact.
