@ Officer Shaft, I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm the kind of guy that when people tailgate me when I'm doing 65-70 on the freeway and there's open lanes all around, I just ease off the gas. Speed back up after they have to brake hard, keep that up until they decide to go around me, then I put on my blinker to make them think I'm letting them by me. I keep that up until they fvck off.

@ Officer Shaft, how does it feel being the police officer that pulls someone over directly after passing someone (legally) on a one lane highway. Because that happened to me on Friday. I was going 70 in a 55 to pass a semi because he was going 50. Thank God for those end of the month quotas. First time I've ever been pulled over and I got slapped with a 150$ fine. (Oh and it was on my way to move into college which was a 3 and a half hour drive. Anyways tons of respect for police officers and thank you for putting yourselves in danger to keep us safe but I feel I got screwed this time

@ Officer Shaft, not after i meet him, pull him out of his wreckage and beat the living crap out of him and put him back because i have super powerful adrenal glands that activate giving me super strength. "Idk officer. He just romped his brakes after tailgating me and then flying by. I just couldnt stop in time..is..is he going to be ok?" *thoughts* yes! (Idk why i would do this. I dont even have anger bursts. Maybe an anger issue but i dont rage. )

@thegoalie, i was doing a similar. Late to an appointment. 1-10 over..$187.16. I was doing 95 in a 70. Not telling where or when in 2012. Hahahahahahahaha i did pay it though. Sucks! I saw one lady doing 60 in a 45 to pass a semi and she had to pay $155. She explained it to the judge too. Must have been on a curve or something. It was a small town.

@MrLampoon, the other night getting off work there was a pack of deer crossing the road and I stopped trying to help the guy behind me and the person in front of me. Well the guy behind me got pissed and turned his brights on and then rode my tail leaving about 1 ft between us. So I got his ass by stopping in the middle of street for about 5 min lol
-
@MrLampoon, the other day, my dad and I were going through this intersection (accident wise, it's the most dangerous in the state). We had a green light so were going through, then this jack-off with a red arrow darts out right in front of us. Likily, we didn't hit him. The best part: right in front of a cop. In a construction zone. Those flashing lights were beautiful.

@Titaintium, yea I'm surprised at how many people don't know this, if you're going the same speed as everyone else in other lanes, you're in the wrong lane. The only reason a multiple lane system even exists is for passing only. If everyone were to go at the speed limit, only one lane would exist everywhere. If you're not passing the person to the right of you, you're in the wrong lane (even if you pass relatively slowly, you're still good).
-
@Traceratops , actually not in all places. In some places its considered the "fast lane" I agree though. If somebody's on my ass and I can move over to let them ahead, I will. And I usually drive in the right lane anyways. So, the guy tailgating me is the one who needs to move into the passing lane.
-
@FFFreak , and if you need to go five to ten+ over. You need to navigate around others. Ambulances and other emergency are supposed to only go 5 over. If i speed over 15 i dont ride someone else because the likelihood of them seeing me i n time is not worth considering. Just signal and get over and pass. Its pretty simple anyway. If there is an emergency, it helps you to stay focused anyway. Keeps your mind off of the problem and thinking a little more clearly as you self talk and process how to plan it out. Not haring but it just makes sense. Plus you save a little in gas because you dont have to floor it and you maintain speed. ;-)

@CynicalSir, here in Chicago at least, where we have pretty much guaranteed more highways than wherever you're from, the third lane is called the passing lane, but the people in the first lane are already going 60 when the speed limit is 55. Legally, you can not *STAY* in the third lane, ie the passing lane, because it's for passing only. I would imagine if the extra lanes were there to accommodate traffic, it wouldn't be ILLEGAL to continually drive in one of the extra lanes. People do it anyways and no one enforces that law. So maybe all laws aren't meant to be enforced to the letter. The posted speed limit is the limit that best suits the majority of conditions, including snow and rain. The road can technically handle 90 or more but that may be more taxing on the road, but regardless, it's how much you pay attention, not speed that determines how deadly a crash is. You could die in a crash goin 45, dying at 85 doesn't make you more dead!! There's always a risk when driving, so if
-
@CynicalSir, you're so worried about risk, maybe you shouldn't drive in the first place. If the lane to the right is going 20 over, than you need to go at least 21 over because why in the fvck are you in the fastest lane when you're going the speed the car to the right of you is going. What will you lose by merging right and continue going at the speed you were already going at?? If I want to drive a certain speed limit, I pick the lane going that speed and move into it. Why? Because I have no reason to be a fvcking asshole and go into the fast lane if I don't intend to drive faster than a slower lane. It's like buying a ticket to a sold out concert and then not going. So don't be a asshole just for the sake of being an asshole and getting what you want.
-
@BunnyGruff, freeways are constantly being widened as more traffic uses them. The more lanes there are, the less traffic will be backed up. I'm not afraid to drive, but speed is a factor. You can't get more dead, no, that's silly, but even if you are paying attention, it's much easier to avoid an accident going slower. I'm not telling people what to do, but that's just a fact of physics. I don't go into the left lane on purpose and drive "slow", but I'm not going to encourage people to go unsafe speeds, either. I make sure to keep up with the person in front of me in the fast lane which usually means I'm going faster than other lanes. If someone gets on my bumper even at that point, I'm not moving. That's not being an asshole, that's just keeping up with traffic in that lane. But... none of this matters because no one follows all the rules anyway.

@Sw1per, drivers tests are easy. A trained monkey could pass it. The real test is out in the real world. You gotta stay alert 100% of the time when you drive, which sounds easy now but you will space out or get distracted really easily, I guarantee it, which in the worst case can lead to your death.
-
@Sw1per, just convince yourself about safety. Then you can tell yourself why its better to signal when you turn and stop fully at stop signs and yield to oncoming traffic when there is a yield sign. It is serious but the safety can be a game too. How safe can i be and practice safe driving habits? When another person hurts me for driving lawfully. It is so much sweeter. Pause a little longer than usual for those people that try to beat lights and be cautious of people not respecting others in the basic rules of rightaway and youll do great! This plan is almost full proof. A lot of people observe this of all ages. I see a lot of girls who are responsible do it and some guys who are scared of paying for accident repair too. Ill stop now. :-) good luck!

Something similar happened a week ago. I was on the highway and construction traffic was ridiculous. we were averaging 10mph for at least an hour. Then this one suc decided to be a douche bag and pass everyone up by driving on the shoulder. 15 minutes later I see him stopped by two cop cars. Karma can be so satisfying
Oh believe me, being the officer that tickets these guys is even better.
