I'm gonna admit, I used to find these funny, but now I think they're way overdone. Just think, if it wasn't worth it in the long run to get that better job, people wouldn't do it. Sure, people survive without it, but a lot of people would agree that a college degree will give opportunities to do more than just survive, but to live very comfortably.
@TheJibbler, *cheers in support even though I'm unemployed and can't find a job cuz I majored in music*
@TheJibbler, when everybody has a college degree, nobody does.
@TheJibbler, Thats true, but the majority of people who get a colledge degree end up gettin jobs that dont even require the degree. I work at subway and theres a guy there who said he went to college but couldnt get the job. Now he has college loans and says it was the worst thing he ever decided to do in his life. Thus why I do not regret going to college
@Bag Of Candy, it depends what you go for, if you major in music or history, yeah it will be hard, personally I major in physics, and it is easily the best decision of my life because I am doing what I love, it all really depends on that. If you have a passion that doesn't need a degree, then yeah, college would be a waste of time
@TheJibbler, the problem is within the system itself, as the comic points out the vast majority of the value of a college education is no longer the education itself and is now mostly centered on just having a degree. Back when the education was what people were there for is when school had value, now all of the people that went through it back then think it's absolutely necessary when the system no longer works as well as it used to.
@TheJibbler, College is an investment in yourself, as my parents like to say.
@TheJibbler, Uhh... Actually, there's plenty of jobs out there that you can go to community college to get, then work up the ranks, and live more of a comfortable life then anyone with a degree... Especially since community college here costs 50,000 max. I'll take that over 300,000 any day
@TheJibbler, that logic makes no sense. Just because a lot of people go to college doesn't automatically make it worth it in the long run anymore.
@Dragondoot, except the additional knowledge that comes from the degree, the sign of commitment it acts as and basically every single aspect of it other than competitive advantage. But no, continue to parrot other pictures and memes.
@Aberdalf Lincler, Which is good, because he wasn't making an argumentum ad populum but rather was saying that if it was truly no longer worth it, as many are want to claim, then people wouldn't still be going to college in the numbers that they are.
@PB4UGAMER, people are foolish, college promises so much but rarely delivers
@A Monty, so many of my friends majored in music education instead of just music alone because there's so much more job security there
@morgantaylorx, wish I wanted to teach kids music... But I don't... Seems like I'll get my master's in theory and teach big kids I'm college lol
Circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works because...
This reminds me of a similar photo posted a while back. The basic idea of it was that we get born, go to school, get a job, then work until we die. That's life.
@hurkashelby, this photo was actually posted quite a while ago itself
University is free in Scotland, come join us in freedom
Can't relate, did first two years in community college and saved thousands of dollars
@MCPO S117, true I forgot the last 2-3 years of college are free
@HolyCatchphrase, well no theyre not free but doing 2 years at a community college saved me about 3000 dollars a semester vs if i had just done all 4 of my years at Rutgers, which is where i ended up going
@MCPO S117, yeah I did it top
@MCPO S117, hmmm interesting I did the same thing. You just have to make sure all your credits transfer over and you get into the right school of your choice, mine was school of engineering.
It's the ciiiiiiiiiircle of life!
