@ archiethesailor, Thankfully, I could groan or make a sarcastic remark, which I did as often as I could. One time, he was caught stealing and we ran off and never looked back. And with the state of the government at the time, people didn't care much what you did in other parts of the country. One time he wanted to shoplift, so he put a bucket on the cashier's head as a distraction... and it worked! The man must have been high or something. Eventually, my client started fighting in the country's civil war. He did surprisingly well and rose through the ranks quickly. Did I ever get any credit though? No. But it was all part of the job. Whenever he felt like he didn't need me, he'd let me stay at his house. It was pretty nice and I still got paid whether I went with him or not. One day he made it pretty clear that he was tired of being single and, well, we're married now. It happened pretty fast, but life is short and we didn't want to wait.
So I have a few stories about my time as a bodyguard. I've had normal clients and some less than normal clients. My last client was really not normal. First, he was a hoarder. Anything he found that he liked, he'd give to me to carry around. Often times, I felt more like a butler than a bodyguard. One day, I was sent flying by a large, hairy, nearly naked attacker. That knocked me out and when I woke up, I saw my client had beaten the man up and was laughing at my unexpected bird impression. He wasn't that bad though, he did give me non regulation gear often times. Every time he gave me something, it was better than the last. Of course, it was hand me down stuff from him, but still, it was better than what my boss gave me. Often times, he'd steal things from people much worse off than him and make me hide his ill gotten goods from the cops. Seriously, I couldn't say one word of complaint or I'd get fired. I'll continue in another comment.
