@ShinyMegaMetagross, it's not too difficult to figure out just a little time consuming. Basically any that are directly affected by each other spin opposite directions and if they're connected by a belt normally they'll spin the same direction and if they're connected by a belt that crosses over itself then they'll spin opposite directions.

@ShinyMegaMetagross, OHHHH the arrow is fixed on the gear so when it turns the arrow turns too. For some reason I was thinking it wasn't fixed and due to gravity it would always face down no matter which way it turned and the question was asking which way the top of the gear would turn initially.

@Assassinator2399, every other gear is the same, every direct band is the same, every indirect gear is a change, no need to focus on direction, so time is even further saved by merely labeling gears as "same" or "different" ... Don't do with children.
