I call bullshīt
@Narutolover115, I was there in 1916 and can confirm this is true.
@I shjt you not, oh no there go my chances of top comment
@I shjt you not, dude you're like 99 years old
@I shjt you not, And I bet you arrived at the proposed amendment announcement before everyone else as well?
@I shjt you not, so was I. It was my idea actually
@Culdogg, :) I made the first comment about it
@Polaroid, I was in college when this happened.
@I shjt you not, wow, you entered college as a baby... Amazing.
@I shjt you not, I didn't know you were that old! Now it explains why you let go in the end!
@Lucious Malfoy, heh ;)
@I shjt you not, you lied! Damnit jack!
@I shjt you not, BUT! age is just a number ;)
@I shjt you not, I heard that you were the first to say yes as well.
@Narutolover115, this amendment, if passed, would have put war to a national vote. The owners of this country did not want this to pass because regular people don't want war.
@Brian Williams, dammit Brian Williams, get out of here!
@Captain Magma, I created this app.... I was there when it was made.
@Brian Williams, youre the worst news anchor since ron burgundy
@Captain Magma, Ron burgundy is my son.
@Brian Williams, *drops mic and walks out*
@DHS Crisis Actor, Pretty sure just about every American supports war with ISIS right now.
@CriTiKa1, I don't.
@Narutolover115, well it just means we'd have about 80 million soldiers if we ever went to war
@TheCrimsonFckr, as amazing as that sounds to me, I think we wouldn't be able to equip but a small fraction of them.
@DHS Crisis Actor, You're one in a million, and the million are the majority here.
@I shjt you not, you've gotta be shjtin me?! Lol
@Narutolover115, anything can be proposed
@CriTiKa1, that's fine. Everyone has a right to be wrong and misinformed if they chose to be. And I fully support that right.
@CriTiKa1, if you and the majority support wars based on lies then yall should go fight in them.
@DHS Crisis Actor, Lies? Was Paris a lie? Go back to your mom's basement and jerk off to your conspiracy theories.
@I shjt you not, grammy?
@CriTiKa1, HAHA! Okay d*ckweed. First of all, I don't live in my mother's basement because I have a house, career and life that I've worked hard for and am happy with. I doubt that's something you can say. And second, jacking off to conspiracy theories? What?! No, that's what my girlfriend is for. And speaking of that conspiracy theory comment, rejecting the consensus reality and calling bullshjt on bullshjt stories doesn't make me a conspiracy theorist. It just means I know more about this country's history than you and I don't blindly believe what the media tells me I believe. So if you're upset at me for having an actual, informed opinion, good. Cry me a river.
"1916: all acts of war should be put to a national vote. Anyone voting yes had to register as a volunteer for service in the United States Army"

@Narutolover115, Okay. I meant it as a joke not to start any fights about this stuff there's no need to argue lets just move on to the funny pics
@DHS Crisis Actor, Boy, I must've struck a nerve if I got you to write me a paragraph, huh? I doubt any of what you said is true, but then again that doesn't really matter. If you really don't see the threat of a terrorist organization such as ISIS, then you are a basement dwelling conspiracy theorist. I'll send you some a lube and a dildo so you can fvck yourself with something other than your fingers tonight.
@CriTiKa1, okay so that was 90% you trying to offend me and 10% you trying to convince me that I should be afraid of the ISIS scam, both of which were unsuccessful. So how about instead of being willfully ignorant, you turn off Faux News and read. Mmkay. Thanks :)
@Narutolover115, if you are early enough, all you have to do is say hello. Once you do enough of that, then you earn sheeple who will upvote you anytime for anything you say.
@DHS Crisis Actor, I do
@Berzerker, that's a bummer.
@I shjt you not, hey man i cant ever keep up with being you i need help come back and teach me your ways.
@Narutolover115, it's true, it's called the Ludlow amendment
As a marine I say this should happen
@MikeyIrish, Yeah, but I think we'd lose if we took many of the people we have today
@I Think Knot, you are righf
@I Think Knot, a lot of the soldiers in battle would pull their own pants half way down, turn their own helmet backwards, and start rapping to burn the enemy.
@MikeyIrish, ehhh, forcing people to fight would just end bad. If they don't believe in the cause or w/e it is theyre fighting for theyll just desert or die or at the very least be really usless
@I Dexios Divine I, but they force ppl to fight in wars they don't believe in now anyways.
As a history major I say that I don't know if this true or not but it does sound exactly like something that Woodrow Wilson would do, man was nutty
Why aren't we funding this?!
I'm actually really glad this didn't happen. I mean, if all the soldiers had to fight for free, how in the hell would they take care of their families? They don't get paid enough as it is.
@KermitSmash, I agree. I assume everyone made to be a soldier in that way would be paid, but I agree because not everyone is cut out to be a soldier and that could have led to our military being weakened or to a waste of money trying and failing to get certain people to be combat ready.
@ archiethesailor, That's true, in the event of a war we'd have a lot more casualties and chaos on our side than if we just had a smaller, more unified military.
@ archiethesailor, as true as that may be, the world now really needs the lessons in respect, working hard, and obedience that the military teaches.
Yeah this makes sense , every time we go to war we send 51% of our population overseas , that won't have any repercussions for the economy at all (sarcasm).
I like the idea but the US would never enter war. There's less than 1% of the US population in the military now
@Just a doctor , good
@Malorn13, yeah...really good. It's a shame the US entered WW2 and stopped Hitler....
Wait, that isn't a good thing....
Immediately following - nuclear arms race WEEEEEeeee!!
"I want war!"
This is how Rome operated
The amount of suck is unimaginable
Thats dumb then youd have 70 year olds wobbling around the army.
That would have been fair
What a shjtty idea.
Real suggestion, but I'm sure everyone's moved off the picture by now. What if Congress had to appeal to the armed forces and get their approval before going to war? "War is young men dying, fighting old men's battles" so essentially, after Congress approves a president's declaration of war, they give the soldiers their reasoning, and then let them vote too?
We'd probably end up with a reputation like the French.
It was probably shot down in favor of a draft, since if we had to rely on volunteers we'd all speak German by now.
@Chanadian, why's that? WW2 was mostly fought by volunteers...they were paid, by they signed up. Hell, there was a significant percentage of young men who committed suicide because they COULDN'T join due to health reasons.
@talmet, I know there were a large number of volunteers... now I may be mistaken but wasn't there also a draft in place at that time?
@Chanadian, there was a draft, but It wasn't as big as it was in Vietnam.
Wikipedia says it was around 20%
@talmet, well, whatever we did in WW2, it worked! :)
@Chanadian, oops, WWI.
I mean if they have to, it's not really volunteering is it?
