Pretty sure a lot of us did
@TasteMySquanch, I most certainly did
@TasteMySquanch, I liked him a lot until I saw he was a spoiled child that was prone to hissy fits
@Scottles, I think it's interesting that he worships Vader, but apparently he worships Vader so much he tried starting out like him: whiny.
@TasteMySquanch, haha! I didn't even think of it that way!
@TasteMySquanch, I didn't mind him without the mask
@Casual Mad Scientist, well with tge foreshadowing of him being pulled to the light side, eventually someone is going to turn him so he cant be looking too evil without the mask for that
@TasteMySquanch, I liked him better in undercover boss
@Dr TalleyWacker, Lol, Matt the radar technician
@Scottles, honestly, if he kept the helmet on, I would've been fine with hissy fits and tantrums...then the face under the helmet made it inexcusable for him to do that
Ok does anyone here actually know the point of his mask? Like Darts Vader actually had a reason. Seems like Kylo's only reason to wear his is to hide his tears during his fits
@People Of Gotham, It's because Vader wore one, and he idolizes Vader.
@People Of Gotham, MUST. BE. LIKE. GRANDAD.
@People Of Gotham, the original sith were their own race that wore masks as part of their culture/to hide their intentions/because they couldn't breath most air at the time (filtration systems weren't up to par at that point in time). The sith race were basically what you expect of the sith (the Jedi group) expect that they didn't all have force powers but believed in the same dogma of government. It was later adopted by many sith warriors to wear helmets in battle and it was something sith (the Jedi group) carried on once sith started being a thing that referred to followers of the sith. Expanded universe, blah blah blah, not sure if cannon anymore (although kylo uses the mask), it's also only prevalent in the non-canon bioware mmorpg but there were references to this long before bioware existed and it's assumed bioware pulled the source material but not the specific lore.
@The Megaton Bomb, thank you, kind sir.
@People Of Gotham, I heard a theory that the mask somehow caused him pain and he used that to channel the dark side.
@The Megaton Bomb, You, sir, are one awesome cookie!
@The Megaton Bomb, the original sith lived on korriban? And never left korriban until the jedi outcasts arrived. And the sith weren't warriors the massassi (however you spell it) were. Who also didn't wear masks. And the sith had their own religion until the jedi overthrew it and were worshiped like gods. Not sure what book you are referencing but chexk out Lost Tribes if you want more info on the origins of the sith and jedi outcasts.
@Downvote God, I'm actually using a huge "compiled" book that was published to summarize the lore of all books, I don't have it on me right now to give you a name since I'm not home. But yes the sith race was originally on korriban, they did wear masks mostly because inhospitable landscape means you need them if you want to develop certain areas of your planet and eventually they became a culture thing. As well some sith were taken off korriban as slaves before dark Jedi arrived which is what lore points to as the first seeping of the dark force and ultimately the Jedi outcasts, also the reason the outcasts came to korriban. (I ment the sith that were warriors, sorry if that was not clear; the evidence for or against masks is also conflicting which is why I mention that kylo uses a similar one).
@The Megaton Bomb, sorry if it sounded combative. Just a huge star wars fan. If you remember the name of the book lemme know I'd love to read it.
@Downvote God, so I'm home and it appears I moved it to storage when I moved out... However if it recall correctly it's title was something similar to just "starwars expanded universe" it was also black bound with a graphic similar to movie posters on the front and filled with the time line from 35,000 before great schism and up till well past episode 6 and after a quick google search, it may have just been the encyclopedia.
Don't worry, I could sense no hostility. To me, it's funny how studying Star Wars has turned into its own form of scholarship.
@The Megaton Bomb, I know more about star wars than American history :P lol
Thanks I'll look it up
@The Megaton Bomb, Ever read Star Wars books? If so, can you recommend what to start on?
@Hollykat93, The Thrawn Trilogy, hands down. That's what The Force Awakens should have been.
@Hollykat93, they actually have books for the movies which have more info than most people take from the movies. I'm still trying to figure out what's canon and what's not, like there was actually an episode 7, 8, and 9 book that is obviously now not canon, so I couldn't advise anything not directly from the main series except to read just to read. If you want everything, see about squirting a summary of the harvest moon comic series first.
@The Megaton Bomb, Thanks :)
@Hollykat93, np young padawan.
@The Megaton Bomb, Actually, I'm an acolyte.
@Hollykat93, what was that? Youngling?
@The Megaton Bomb, I said... I AM A SITH ACOLYTE!!
@Hollykat93, then let's see your force powers stop this. *fires fusion pulse charge*
@The Megaton Bomb, *counters attack using force powers and proceeds to begin epic lightsaber battle in form 7 Juyo*
@Hollykat93, *irrelevant as you have been atomized*
@The Megaton Bomb, "I hate you! *growl* I hate you!" *burns*
@Hollykat93, now where is this Darth jar jar that needs dealt with.
I actually think Adam Driver did an amazing job as Kylo Ren. It was JJ Abrams intention to have Kylo be prone to fits of anger. Just like a teenager going through puberty, Kylo wasn't fully through his Sith training. He is often conflicted between the light and the dark, as he even says at multiple points in the movie. Honestly, I think they did a great job looks-wise with casting. Adam Driver is so reminiscent of Hayden Christiansen, but he does a much better job at the "conflicted jedi being manipulated." I'd love to hear some feedback from both sides. :)
@ReksSol, I didn't like him in the role because his face is just... Off. Like Han and leia are two really attractive people and their kid is supposed to look like a retarded mr. Potato head? I know it's a petty thing to rag on but once that helmet came off I instantly changed my view of him from potential threat/strong to a bitch
@Silver6456, I can see where you are coming from, there. You probably expected someone that looks at least somewhat like Carrie Fisher or Harrison Ford.
He looked like a b!tch without it
I like him with the mask on because he sounded hella awesome.
Ummm...I thought he looked hot without his helmet...I'm Kylo trash.
Who is kylo ren?
I like Kylo Ren. I liked his helmet, but without a hood it just looks liked an unprotected djck
@Madmullato, unprotected? Like without a condom?
@rabid aviator, he probably hasn't grown his yet
Unrelated what's the number beside the yellow star
@a dank dodo, in our profile
I'm gonna want this to become a thing now...
Mask came off and Kylo Ren turned imto a little bitch.
