I'm Christian but I don't try to shove my religion down peoples throats....i Just think that whatever religion you are (or non religion) you should still treat people wit respect because it is the right thing to do and it would make living a hell of a lot easier...

@Twoity Twoitose if you live a good morale life and profess your life to a pure religion I'm pretty sure God will allow you into heaven. Let's say Islam or Juedism is right, I'm postive Allah or Y-w-h will allow Mother Teresa into paradise. Like I said better safe then sorry.

@Budweiser if the catholic church was wrong then all other Christians denominations are wrong also, sane with Islam. Since they all took ideas from them and broke away from them. And "A good tree only produces good fruit and a bad tree only produces bad fruit." so either Catholics are right and always were or they are wrong and so are all that branched from it.

@Toad, there's more examples you could use of people who fully support the church, and claim to have its beliefs. However when these people begin creating their hypothesis, and present their research, they forget all notions of god and look for pure fact, like true scientists.

@Jarjab2, they look for empirically testable fact, as that is all science can deal with. There are many truths that aren't empirically testable. (Incidentally, Copernicus, who is also shown in the image and came up with the heliocentric theory of the solar system, was also a Catholic priest)

@myronflo12 sorry but it's kinda up to the thiests to prove their theory not to the scientists (not saying one can't be both). That's just how theories work. You can't state something as a fact and expect others to do the work for you. That's like me saying re world was created by a leprechaun and then telling people if they can't prove it's false it must then be a fact. I'm sure you have valid points supporting your beliefs but that particular statement was flawed. OKAYthanksbye :)

Honestly am not sure wether I believe the "big bang" or not, because, to be absolutely honest, just like god mind you, it can not truly be proven. I believe, however, that if I block out all possibilities and look only to religion for answers, we will never know, we will never push boundaries or test what was written. I believe fully in evolution, however, because using smaller animals with shorter life spans, the theory can be proven i.e. The flu, or AIDS. Some of what the church has insisted for centuries is, in fact, false, but although I do not believe in a god, I also do not believe that other people are stupid or ignorant for following their god. I understand the tradition that comes with religion, as well as the safety and hope that it can help a person feel. Sorry for the long post, I'd just like to share my views.

To be fair, science is adapting and learning while religion stays with the same principle it started with. So... Eventually science will find something that could probably wipe out religion. (...Or perhaps create a new one..?)

@NAT, it's not the religion that is staying the same it's the church and the institution. Sure isn't one of the main teachings of Christianity/ Jesus to accept people and their beliefs and to understand them? The thing that refuses to6 change is the institution and the people who run the church

@ichigo UzamakiWalker, they are too greedy and they see the priesthood as a career and a path to power. It is these people, who are at the core of the power of the church, that refuse to change. They oppose anything that will lessen their power and they are unwilling to change things for fear of losing their positions. These are the people who are causing the problems in the church. Also it isn't the religion that came up with these ideas. Jesus never said anything about the earth being flat or it being the centre of the universe. That was all the church. So the root of the churches problems are itself and the people who run it. Irrelevant rant over.

Actually, the big bang theory ignores the principle of planetary equilibrium. There are many things that atheists want you to believe without proof and evidence.

That is actually not what Christians believe. They never said earth is flat, the seven days was an exaggeration (seven days for god), they never believed that they were the center of the universe, and they never said that we were the only intelligent life. Also, if there was no god, what caused the Big Bang, and what made everything before that?

@Lampunchkin19, in the origins of the Roman Catholic Church, these were all commonly believed. The church enforced these beliefs, but not all of them originated in the church, or the bible.
