Having worked in retail the past ten years, mostly so I can stay home with the kids during the day but still have a paycheck, I have occasionally heard this phrase (not to me personally). I have a degree, it's just what works for us. I get sick of being looked down on though. I still get the customers that will leave stuff on the floor, or ignore me, or tell their friend "don't put that away, it's their job." Trust me, I have enough to do without you purposely making a mess! Sorry, rant over.

@phatassgato, is there any birthday that isn't truly meaningless? Every year we get closer to death. Next year won't be much different. I'll be closer to death and the only thing new is that my license will become horizontal. Sure I'll be old enough to drink but I don't drink and if I did drinking would probably just increase my chances of dying. Anyways.... Have a nice day:)

I work a maintenance job. Sometimes people try to use us as an example of why to go to school. Thing is, I get to work outside, build decks, drive atv's at work, and fall trees.

I did construction for 8years with my dad and enjoyed it, im now taking classes for a mech engineering job and working as a cad drafter. My advice for the younger users? Get good grades in hs and go to college in a field with a high hire rate that you enjoy

Why do people look down on others for doing labor jobs? Somebodys gotta do it. God forbid you take your own garbage to the dump. And most of the jobs like that pay high too because it is a dirty job
