Don't forget to cut your brakes for maximum speed
@GENERIC USERNAME 69, yeahh...i removed them as a weight reduction. Purely optional for each person though.
@GENERIC USERNAME 69, removing the hood of your car and replacing the windshield with lighter less durable glass really helps
@Blackfrost273, and removing air brakes and bumpers also help!
@GENERIC USERNAME 69, and tape over your air intakes and radiator to reduce air drag. It has been tested and approved and really works!
@GENERIC USERNAME 69, in a front week drive car you can just remove the back half of your car, you'll have double the power to weight ratio, and be legally a motorcycle.
@GENERIC USERNAME 69, if you drain the oil out of your engine you will have less weight to carry around
*cue all the pretentious Europeans who think we don't have manual cars in the US.
@AliG, With a comment like that you should consider a different user name.
@lockke, just because his name is Ali doesnt mean he's not American
@Sim0nSays , Ali G is a Sachsa Baron Cohen character. British. It was a joke anyway ;)
@lockke, i was thinking more along the lines of middle eastern but okay lol. I wasnt serious its all in fun too lol
@Sim0nSays , If you get the chance, check out Da Ali G Show. The interviews especially are hilarious. The one with the DEA agent stands out most.
@lockke, i will. Ill try to find that one.
@lockke, thank you for getting the reference. Restecp
I tried this once ended up going back into the past and meeting some doctor and a guy named McFly really cool experience definitely recommend doing this
Add speed flames by setting alight your petrol tank
I would just like to mention that in order to do this in most vehicles where reverse is directly behind 5h gear you would have to put the vehicle into neutral before it would allow you to put it in reverse due to a shift lockout as a safety precaution. If for what ever reason you do that it will be extremely difficult to get it into reverse because you can not rev match at all into reverse.
@FunnyPics HOONIGAN, good. Someone said it.
@2ndAmendment, saw my opportunity. Took it. Don't want to have dumb people
@FunnyPics HOONIGAN, i personally think that teens should be taught to drive using only a standard trans. Teach them to focus and pay attention. Not to mention if for some reason you HAVE to drive a standard trans vehicle, you are out of luck.
@2ndAmendment, see I'm only 16 and have been able to drive a stick since i was 12. Not bragging I'm just extremely passionate for cars. I would actually prefer a standard over an auto because it keeps me from wanting to text and it's fun
@FunnyPics HOONIGAN, i have had two jeep wranglers both stick. It was fun at first, but being from an urban area, it gets really old, really fast when you are constantly in traffic.
@2ndAmendment, I can relate to this actually. Yeah it sucks from time to time but when you can just roll through the gears it makes it all worth it
And let god take the wheel
Natural selection :)
Dont forget to remove those pesky bags in your steering wheel before hand for maximum potential
@CheezyV, weight reduction bro
Don't forget! After fifth gear repeat to first gear to achieve overdrive gears
The really loud grinding sound is just so you know its working.
When your Asian girlfriend believes it is real....
Cue the confused Americans who drive automatic cars ;)
@Handless Juggler , I'm an American and I drive a manual.
@Handless Juggler , and I'm Ricky Bobby and if you don't chew big red then FVCK YOU
@Devils Avocado, You won't be confused then!
@Devils Avocado, I'm Mexican and my name is Manuel
@Handless Juggler , uh.... do you guys think we don't have a reverse? I don't get it.
@Dephenistrator, I actually don't drive. I'm clearly the confused party here.
@Handless Juggler , just cuz somebody is American or drives an automatic doesn't mean they don't know what the gears are on a stick shift
@The Puppet Man, I know. Just a joke, and not a good one :)
@Handless Juggler , in general anyone who doesn't know what "R" means regardless of auto/manual doesn't need to be anywhere remotely near the driver seat
@Handless Juggler , oh okay sorry I've met some ppl on the interwebs that legitimately think we don't know how a stick shift works
@D0N RAM0N, I'm Mexican and my name is Mexican
@The Puppet Man, Me too, I was kinda playing on that! (I'm not one of those people)
@Handless Juggler , the my apologies.
@The Puppet Man, I can't accept your apology, my friend! I expect my badly phrased joke to be rightly downvoted!
@Handless Juggler , I drive a 5 speed manual every day and love every second.
@D0N RAM0N, "my name is Jeff"
@Handless Juggler , I'd say it was a simple mistake but apparently you called it
@The Puppet Man, *Pounded with downvotes*
@Handless Juggler, I really don't see the issue with not knowing how to drive manual. (I am American, I do know how to drive manual, and I do know you were joking, but I just fail to see why everyone who drives a manual usually acts so superior about it.)
@VaporStrike, I have no idea. (I don't know how to either.) Maybe because it's harder? But there seems to be no good reason to make life harder for yourself!
Maybe a superior manual driver can come and explain what we're missing :p
@Handless Juggler , Actually, I said I do know how to, but I don't do it because I prefer automatic. But yeah, any manual master races in here care to explain? (I'd be surprised if we have nobody like that here. They're everywhere.)
@Handless Juggler , im american and i drive a Camaro SS 6 speed of 'Murica!!!!!
@VaporStrike, as part of the superior manual master race, you're beneath me because...
I'm kidding, it's 100% personal preference and anyone that says otherwise is full of horse and/or bull shjt.
@Handless Juggler , it seems to be a holdover from a couple of generations ago when they didn't have automatic transmissions. They were saying the kids were soft because of it. *queue the Pepperidge Farms meme
@Handless Juggler , I'm an American and I have paddle shifters with duel clutch because a manuel transmission can't handle 1 to 60 in 2.9 sec.
@Devils Avocado, Whaaaaaaat? How could you betray your own kind like that?
@VaporStrike, I don't think im better for driving standard and actually performance autos are faster then manual gear boxes now. But there really is something about rowing your own gears that I dont get with an auto. I just feel more connected to the vehicle.
@RustyFapwagon, I dunno. I never felt anything like that. To me, it's just a car. I use it to get around, that's it. Nothing there to be connected to.
Of course, I grew up as someone who respected road rules, surrounded by an infinite amount of Ford-hating, Chevy-worshipping, drag racing country people, in the middle of nowhere Iowa, so maybe I just ended up with some sort of deep hatred for car culture in general.
@RustyFapwagon, the pros I see in stick shift are shifting before a turn when you need to rpms and slowing down using the engine. Paddles are AMAZING though for speeds @ 200mph
@Ferrari Fireball, so few tracks even have sections you can hit speeds that high on though. Paddles just don't have any personality to me.
@VaporStrike, to most people cars are just couches to get from a to b and that's ok. I respect road rules too but there's a difference between driving fast and driving dangerous. Also there's always track days.
@RustyFapwagon, Road Atlanta is my track. From turn 7 to 12 you can pick up around 187 mph. Again paddles are for the more quick transitioning sport cars
@Handless Juggler , im an american who drives and audi stick shift. Thats right a European stick shift *puts on sunglasses*
@Ferrari Fireball, I know they're faster but it still isn't as fun to me. Just a preference thing.
@Handless Juggler , it's mostly preference. However, it can save a lot of money. Manual transmission cars tend to be cheaper then the automatic counterparts. They're also a lot cheaper to fix.
Then you've got the other great benefit of theft protection. In the US most drivers don't know how to use a stick shift (not being mean, just stats). Plus you can jump start them using a slope. They'd be an ideal choice in the Apocalypse.
@Devils Avocado, same
Actually, the transmission wont let you go in reverse once you are driving forward. Also you cant go into first once you hit a certain speed.
I was hoping someone wouldn't find this iut
Ok I can't be the only one who, for the very briefest of moments after swiping to this pic, thought that was a xenomorph trying to night shift my face off.
Saw a dude do that one time.....followed by watching him spin crazily when the rear tires locked up
I immediately heard plankton say "MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE" in my head
10/10 promise a different feeling when you shift to racing
"R" for repost
I drive a manual vw so my reverse is a bit different ;)
@Leftyraydy, yeah I got a BMW where you have to fight it all the way left, I think vw you push down and left?
@CrazyRightWinger, Yeah you push it down and put into where first would normally be.
This meme is brought to you by your local, friendly gearbox mechanic. You're welcome.
