@Abusive Breasts, dark side is great, you'll love it
@Sad Capitalist, oh without a doubt. But the fact I have to put up with college kids going all hooah hooah with rotc is rather frustrating
@Abusive Breasts, yep, absolutely. But as a prior-E, those kids will definitely respect you if they know what's good for them. You doing OTS, or ROTC?
@Sad Capitalist, yeah I'm doing rotc. It's at Princeton so a portion of the kids think they're freaking geniuses while they have zero understanding of what actually happens in a unit
@Abusive Breasts, ROTC was my commissioning source, and I had a good time of it. But maybe cause I didn't have prior experience, so I didn't know how the "real" military was gonna be. Still kinda don't, since I'm still in formal training. Anyhow, no doubt you'll do fine. Best of luck, man

@DrunkenSailorGirl, army infantry, got out in 2012.
@DrunkenSailorGirl, rahhhhh what's up squid
@Chief wanahawkalugi, if you are a contracted cadet then you are technically in the service, which is why you sign a contract with the Army and receive your CAC card. Plus we get paid monthly by the Army
@Captain Kiwi, "technically"
@Sad Capitalist, what I do: paralegal for the army...
That doesn't do any JAG work, stuck with the S1 shop and doing admin, stuck in a transportation battalion PMCSing the vehicles with the mechanics...
All because I don't have anything to do at my unit
And now that I contracted as a cadet I just slap the dot on my chest and stand around all day dodging every detail
@DrunkenSailorGirl, STG2 stationed in a destroyer in Norfolk, VA
@Abusive Breasts, lol I think you're getting it. Honestly I respect you Enlisted a lot because of how much work you do, and how many new officers (like myself) you have to put up with. You'll have such a great perspective commissioning as prior enlisted
@Sad Capitalist, the rotc kids did a peer leader review where we anomalously submitted sustains and improves for each other. Apparently I'm too relaxed and cynical. Fvcking bs college kids...
@Abusive Breasts, we have a guy in my flight who's a prior flight engineer on a Guard C-130H, and he shares the same sentiments. Schoolhouses always engender this kind of Mickey Mouse BS. But in the end you learn to play the game and realize the operational world won't be like that
@DrunkenSailorGirl, Lance Corporal USMC
@Slayer9200, you went through it so props but can't call yourself a vet
@DrunkenSailorGirl, Sailor, forever chicago.
It's fun when you have the same last name as someone else, and they just say the first initial of your first name. Like Smith, K and Smith, S.
@DrunkenSailorGirl, I had one guy who's last name was "Saut (pron. Like saught) my last name is Scott. Both our first names started with an F. We both got in trouble in basic for saying " here Drill Sergeant" on the wrong name.
Thank you for your service all branches of the military!
I didn't know my first name was maggot.
Man as a high school student who barely passes gym I can 100% relate to this funny
@WuberDuk, only if you have a lane name like Mike or john
SSG, Army, Air Defense Artillery
Can't relate. Not in the military
There was this guy in high school that did that to me. I told him to stop many times but he still did it.
