@The Big Hodge, If I were to guess, I'd say that the law against it was time-limited (had an expiration date at which time the law would no longer be valid) and they forgot to renew it. My city did that with a solicitation law.
@The Big Hodge, crystal meth probably
@The Big Hodge, I looked it up, and apparently in the 70s they passed a law that banned possession of a bunch of drugs. Then afterward, they kept adding to the list as things needed to be banned. However, these amendments to the law weren't passed in both houses of Ireland's parliament, and so their Supreme Court struck them down in 2015 because the way they were added is against their constitution. So about 40 years worth of illegal drugs were technically legal to possess, though selling and making said drugs was still illegal. They fixed it after a day or two, I believe.
@DrahcirAloer, It's just like they say: "Do it now while it's still legal"
@DrahcirAloer, in Texas in the 1990s they government decided to rewrite some of the law books. They found out something had been omitted when a police officer (in civilian clothes) had been approached by a woman at a skate park. She asked if he wanted to buy her daughter. Being a cop, he acted interested, set up a sting, and they busted her. Guess what? When they went to book her they found that it technically wasn't illegal to sell your kids. Or any kid. It was an oversight so they couldn't charge her with that crime since it didn't exist in the state. All good though, they caught it and charged her with child endangerment.
Yeah its true :/
There's a story behind this and I want to know.
@Like A BossSirBeast, where have I seen your profile pic before?
@Scotch Pilgrim, Twenty One Pilots
@The Moon Spirit, yep.
Meth is technically "legal" in the USA. You can be prescribed meth pills by a doctor. So meth, cocaine, and heroin are actually more legal than weed here
They also made straight marriage legal while legalizing gay marriage
That's not a problem
This is the stuff that should be taught in Irish schools 😂
Lame. Apparently they were working to amend a law that banned the use and possession of some drugs and in doing so they made it void. Who the heck was there to let everyone know this before they finished writing the new legislation!
@JaH1995, something tells me the overlook was due to whiskey. Regardless if it is true I'm off to Wikipedia to make it true!
At least they didn't legalize weed. The whole internet would move there.
