@Learntospell, No, they don't. Common Core is a set of standards that promote understanding over memorisation. There are nearly limitless ways that they can be implemented. Yes, many places are implementing Common Core as a rigid, structured curriculum where kids have to sit still and do worksheets. But that's not the fault of Common Core, that's the fault of the school or district deciding that was the best way to implement it. I've taught Common Core math in a personalised learning model where kids were scattered around the room on the floor and on bean bags and stuff all working on different activities.
