Once maximum technical skill is reached, the next logical step is experimentation.
@Ruupasya, and nowdays any camera can create realism
@Ruupasya, that was a super smart thing to say. I feel smarter having read it
@Ruupasya, Yes, just most people prefer experimentation through stylization, not completely changing the idea. For example, lots of people love the art of Bastion, but not modern art because Bastion or other games give us something tangible we can appreciate
@Winter Diablo, you should have quit while you were ahead pal..
@Ruupasya, no, then you just switch the skill tree
@Ruupasya, but not all experiments result in positive results.
@Ruupasya, excellent, so which artist achieved this? Every at work contains flaws, so I'm going with none. However, I'll propose that recent artists knowing they could not achieve the same skill and works as the masters decided to produce nonsense and blame the viewer for "not getting it".
Same thing happened in my field.
Younger people got lazy with the pursuit of perfection and have settled for the "close enough" or often the "they are dumb and will believe what I tell them".
TRIGGER WARNING! THIS ARTWORK IS BLACK!
@Fellacio Jones, Pencils up, don't shoot
@Fellacio Jones, did you just assume it's gender????
@Fellacio Jones, I think it prefers the term african american*, thank you very much.
@Funnypics Toilet, *graphite american
@Fellacio Jones, black people are so sensitive now, you actually would hear that complaint lol
How dare you?! That art took a lot of thought and work to make!!! The artist put all of their... Yah I can't do this. That isn't art, it's crap.
Regardless of how many whine how horrible the art is on the right, all need to either take a college humanities class or research the artist, Rothko, and find out his story that lead him to create the masterpiece that many only view canvas deep. Who, what, when, where, and why are the foundations to any artwork and regardless if I like it or not, I appreciate the reason and presence behind them.
@City87, But at the same time some people believe that it is the artist's job to inspire emotions directly through their medium, not require them to research a backstory which is arguably an emotional experience independent the artwork. And ultimately both are fine. Art is highly subjective and will always have different meanings to different people.
@JJJSchmidt, just as the problem of whom the artist is making the artwork(s) for. Even in interpretation, are the artists making it for everyone, themselves (which Rothko's last were), or both? It's not just to inspire viewers, but to share/release a moment as well. In Rothko's case, "Un suicide élégant est l'oevre d'art finale."
@City87, True but then you could argue that if it's on display, it must be at least in part for others. Which then makes you as the artist liable to be judged based on their perspective.
@City87, what a crock of steaming bull squirt. I don't need to know who made the work and their life story to determine if what before me is good or garbage. People have been sucked into this nonsense and now promote it because they are trying to all appear intellectually superior. It's crap. My child produces this sort of thing all the time. ALL THE TIME. They are not a great artist, they are a 3 year old with a black crayon.
I despise this intellectual fvckwittery.
@TheMonkeyGod, this is why... You know what? You're too easy and have a good day.
@City87, you're not the first to call me easy ;)
@City87, "I have no arguments, so I'm just gonna throw a shïtty insult at you"
@DeadStroke, no, there are arguments but not worth the time arguing with an ignorant rock too dumb to think outside of their own thick skull, so why waste the time? You need to keep your hands at 10 and 2 so you can get back in your own damn lane, ultimate uncultured garbage. As usual, have a nice day and fick dich...
@City87, *tips beanie*
@TheMonkeyGod, @City87, For Christ's sake guys, it's art! It's the very definition of subjective. Trying to claim it's objectively terrible and that you're an idiot for liking it is just as arrogant and ignorant as claiming it's objectively great. It's gonna do something for some people and nothing for other people and that's fine! Jesus, there's enough negativity in the world already, can we not just have differing opinions on a piece of artwork without putting each other down?
@JJJSchmidt, you have a bad opinion
Well, what we have on the left is obviously a simple painting, but on the right we have so much more. Just look at the pristine layer of black paint, deep and complete, pulling you towards it... representing... OH EMPEROR IT'S THE WARP AND ALL ITS TAINTED LIES!!!! *unloads full bolter clip into canvas*
*art critics take closer look at shattered remains of black canvas*
*mark up price*
Also it's actually a deeper painting. The black canvas painting isn't totally black. It has subtle lines of very very dark blues red and greens. So that when you look at it you're really not sure which color is truly black. And it's suppose to make you question something or another.........
Or literally a pile of trash on the floor, "it's modern art" no, it's garbage, both in artist merit and by way of its physical existence. "You have to be cultured to appreciate it" no, the emperor is not wearing clothes, you're just pretentious.
@TheColossalTitan, preach it brother
I know right? The patterns on that floor are remarkable
The black painting isn't for us. It's for the art community.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , you mean wankers right?
@TheMonkeyGod, No, I mean people with degrees and experience in this field. They know better than us what drives postmodern art, and what the central theme is. Some things just aren't made for you, y'know?
@KeKesUHaulFacility , yes, wankers, asvI said. It's simply a lie that has gotten out of control and no one wants to look stupid, all the while though they look completely stupid.
@TheMonkeyGod, Ok, Mr. Smartest guy in the room
@KeKesUHaulFacility , sarcasm, good work. Be demeaning, that'll convince me you're right.
I spend a lot of time around artists and the field. To much.
There are a minority who say the same as I, but explain that the majority can't say it because of fear of looking stupid for carrying this on for so long. As others have said, it's the emperor's new clothes dilemma.
I don't consider myself the smartest either. Quite probably smarter than yourself as I can construct meaningful argument, without being demeaning as a means of my first rebuttal.
Quick question, do you need experts to tell you if someone is beautiful or worthy of admiration? So why do you need it for art? Do you suddenly lose this capacity, or is there fvckwittery at play?
I value skill in art. If i could draw it, i don't look twice at it compared to some of the amazing works out there. Art shouldn't need an essay to convince you it's art.
@Dephenistrator, if you could apply your skill freely to those who produce that pap they call art, many would admire you.
That looks like an accent piece. Something that goes on your wall, to accentuate the interior design. That belongs in someone's home. Not an exhibit.
So does anyone know how I can change my avatar because it keeps saying it will update in a few minutes
No comment comment
Modern art is a joke.
But, you see, this particular shade of black can only be created by studying the inside of the artist's dirty whore of an ex's heart. Stupid Mindy.
The photo of the piece that is a "black square" doesn't show what the art piece really is. In reality it is made up of hundreds of small squares that are almost black but actually completely different colors.
@lfinn582, Dulux make this, it's called a paint chart and are available at paint stores.
