Then you would be placing your views and opinions on a timeframe where societal standards were a lot different and getting offended about them now, without any ability to change anything 50+ or more years ago, shows just how far the stupidity of being offended about everything really is. If societal standards had never changed and women were still oppressed like they were back then, then you might have a cause but they are not and bringing this up now is stupid. Whomever created this sounds like Hillary Clinton running against Tesla for Thomas Edison.
@City87, great point!
@City87, You just had possibly the single most convincing Internet post ever. If anyone managers to actually argue that, except for ok what's her name, I would be impressed. Seriously though as a lover of history I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's like condemning you grandparents for the ideals their great grandparents tried to instill no matter that the grandparents don't believe it anymore as times changed.
@George Feeny, manages to argue against your point*. Also just to clarify I'm saying it would be like you hating your grandparents about a view point that they no longer have just because they were brought up in that mindset and had to personally choose to think different about it as they became more informed.
@City87, I would have just asked for a source.
@HentaiFan, that's not the American way. Quite a few factions, even some new and ridiculous ones, would be created to voice how they are offended: "stupid lives matter," "shunned and discredited alternate methods matter," "go back in time and change the past offense(s) matters," and all the American flags with different colors outside of red, white, and blue will be created to show support of each.
@City87, I agree I also dislike the confederate flag waving fools. I mean it has a lot of negative connotations HOWEVER that's not the main reason I get annoyed by it. I truly dislike how anyone can claim to have pride while waving a flag for a group that got upset and tried to create their own country, then got beat down and surrendered. If you want to have pride and don't want to be like everyone else why not use the don't tread on me flag. That's something worth having pride in. Though it's a persons right to wave the flag of a surrendered group I just don't get why this is the flag chosen.
@City87, well white women are better off anyway
@KeKesUHaulFacility , are you really dumb enough to be saying that things have not changed in anyway for any group of women other than who're women?
@City87, while I totally agree with what you're saying, it seemed more like to me that the picture is trying to point out that Tesla isn't in fact the perfect model of humanity, despite the Internet circle jerks that say so. He was a brilliant mind and an inventor who got far less credit and recognition than he deserved, but he wasn't a god in human flesh. He had flaws that, like, you pointed out, were considered normal during his time. To me this makes Tesla seem more human and thus impressive with what he accomplished.
@KeKesUHaulFacility , ps I don't care about your response. I already know it's going to be some crap about how Pugh you're life is in compared to the the first class house wife you see in movies and tv and think that's how life is for others. But your life is much better than most of the world. Does it need to be better, sure, does whining about how tough life is in a first world country make it any better? Nope
@George Feeny, tough*
@George Feeny, Was I talking to you?
@George Feeny, just to clarify my recent comment is to say simply that I am tired of people who do nothing for those in their communities they just want someone else to come in and do stuff for them. I just am fed up with people who think that there is nothing they can do to make life better for those in their community. I know it didn't come out properly but what I want is for people to know it's not to late to help others, and even if it's just donating food or spending 15 minutes or so helping some kid after school with homework you would still be having a huge impact. Help others don't just wait for someone else to do it for you. If I offended anyone I do apologize, to an extent, if you help others and complain about the struggles you're fine in my book. If you don't do anything to help others and only complain about it then you're literally putting no effort into fixing anything. *i should mention I have had no sleep today and this might make no sense whatsoever*
@George Feeny, The flag being referenced was not the Confederate flag, it was the flag of the Tennessee Rebels. Thus "rebel flag." The reason for secession was being upset, by constant intrusion of the federal government in state and private affairs in violation of the Constitution, which is still an issue today. The south was winning the War of Northern Aggression until Lincoln unleashed the psychopath Sherman, who burned, raped, and pillaged his way to the Atlantic.
People that wave the rebel flag and use it as a symbol of the Confederacy are just as guilty of being ignorant as the people that allow a piece of cloth to stir them into a rage. Imagine how people would feel if flags of African or Asian nations were derided, mocked, burned, and insulted. It makes zero sense.
@City87, As the meme says, What if it told me that. I would say what proof is there? I would also say that perhaps it was propaganda started by Thomas Edison to discredit Tesla. Since Edison tried very hard to bash Tesla's AC current and took a lot of his ideas. Similar to how propaganda was spread to get people to believe that Napoleon was short when in fact he was average height.
@Googleybody, indubitably. We all are perfectly imperfect and it is impossible to have characteristics that some to many would entirely approve of for all of us. The need and use of the Autobahn was and is ingenious, but the people who pushed it were horrible. Tesla was just a man that had an amazing talent and was unfairly discredited from another's selfishness. We have to remember that to think and be different from the majority of societal belief systems back then, usually meant being deemed a pariah, victimized through various demeaning actions and motives against the individual in question.
@George Feeny, most usually love or hate the confederate flag, whether it is because they love or hate "the south" and it's want "to rise again," but I am indifferent to flags altogether. While I can understand either extreme perspective of that flag, I do not understand why the flag flown at the same time with the 13 stars in a circle (which was also flown during slavery) is not hated just as much as the confederate flag and its correlation to the hatred. I know it's not just America that does this but I cannot understand why the masses like to collectively pick and choose which things are offensive to what actually is and the world has to stop for each offended topic for 6-24 months at a time, instead of learning what went wrong and how to better ourselves for the future. It's like, "I'm offended for this, I don't know why but I'll think of it when you stop."
@City87, Yes! Its so true for when people try to slander prominent figures in the past, it just dont work baby.
@City87, so wouldn't that logic apply to getting angry about slaveholders?
@HiroAntagonist, yes yes I know it wasn't the confederate flag. But many who wave it or pose on Facebook with it, at least those I know, refer to it that way. My point had nothing to do with racism in reference to the flag my point was the flag was a reference to a group who got mad and tried to create a new country only to get stomped down. I don't care what a person waves around I just think it's stupid to chose to celebrate the losers in a conflict so long after the fact.
@HiroAntagonist, it's like the kid who gets mad when someone didn't let them have their way so they take the basketball and go home. Why celebrate that what honor is there is surrendering?
@City87, no need to bring Hillary into this
I agree with the sterilization part. Some people I've met shouldn't have been allowed to breed.
@sneskid, Woman so ?
@sneskid, If you believe that, then maybe you're one of them.
@sneskid, you can't take the freedom to procreate from anyone... that's fvcked up
@spellcheck, it's more of the extremes for me, if someone wants a darwin awards in life I won't stop them from fvcking, the people I have in mind from my first comment are extremely hateful people (and that's an understatement), who also had an offspring that molests people. Hopefully the back story to the comment helps illustrate my meaning slightly better.
@spellcheck, procreation isn't a freedom or a right, natural selection would claim the idiots and spare the rest of us from dealing with them, now that natural selection is no longer a thing (which I'm not upset about just stating it's gone) the idiots procreate much faster than the intelligent people. I know someone who has a horrible genetic birth defect who went out and got an ogre pregnant (when I say ogre I mean 500 pounds and incredibly rude) and now their child has the same birth defect and is an asshole.
Just saying, people like that shouldn't breed.
@sneskid, I agree...I'm scared I would be of the part th st doesn't get to thorough...aspergers is a bjtch. ..
@Ser Waffle Knight, why do you think natural selection no longer exists?
Now, now, don't going go down voting @Hamilton Porter, he happens to be right in some regard. Natural selection is alive and well in some areas and dead in others. For example, an individuals less productive traits might not kill them like it would in other species, we coddle those people (stupidity included), but sexual selection is alive and well. Certain traits such as appearance and success will make you more attractive to the opposite gender thereby making it more likely you'll pass those genes on.
@sneskid, had he succeeded, Trump would have no supporters today
@Ser Waffle Knight, I don't understand why procreation isn't a right. A right is something God-given. Something we're born with and abilities that we have.
@Pyvin, It's not necessarily a right or a freedom, before the world changed you had to earn procreation, survive long enough to get there. If you were weak, or stupid, or geneticly diseased you wouldn't pass on your genetics because you didn't live long enough.
I don't think we should stop people from having children just because they're a little stupid, we should stop the people who are knowingly creating genetic defects. With natural selection so hampered in developed countries, artificial selection should take its place, and if it doesn't the human race will separate into two soon enough (in the grand scheme of things). The genetic defects, near invalids who need society to keep them alive, and the far less populous normal humans who have to take care of them. Or enslave them depending on how the future goes.
Either way, it ain't great, and our options are bad, but one of them is logical and betters mankind as a whole.
@Ser Waffle Knight, I see what you're saying. Like the same way incest is illegal for its birth defects. I gotcha. But I also think just because you had to earn something doesn't make it any less of a right. Sure, you don't give procreation to people freely, but if they do it, I think it's fair to call it a right. I agree with you on the curtailing of genetic defects though.
@sneskid, Yes, yes, all of this debate is nice. However, the real issue here is that YOU CALL YOURSELF SNES KID BUT HAVE MASTER CHIEF AS YOUR PICTURE.
Well maybe, but he's known for being an amazing scientist who got cheated out of true success so his views on women don't really need to matter
Great information. I now know to never give respect to Tesla's beliefs on women or stupid peoples' rights. Wait, why the f#&$ would I have done that anyway? He was a scientist, not a political activist.
@ A Sad Blow Job, Well, I mean, celebrities are activists and totally where you should get religious, political, medical, and scientific advice. Tesla is famous. So, y'know, it makes a certain kind of sense
@HiroAntagonist, Tesla also had Thomas Edison bash his alternating current and still quite a few of his ideas. For all we know this could be more propaganda from Thomas Edison. So unless you have proof that he actually said it take it with a grain of salt.
We could really use that sterilization right now. The amount of stupid people today has me deeply concerned for the future.
@Technosexual , I feel obligated to point out that stupid people don't make stupid kids.
@notMrWonka, except for rare genetic issues, rare being bold and italic. More common that stupid people raise less educated kids which is why forefathers put education in the constitution.
@Sweet or Sour, I find that kids in those situations tend to be a lot more resilient and resourceful.
Id still follow that iconic motherf*cker into the pits of hell
What if I told you, you lost all legitimacy by spelling Nikola wrong?
@MacLovelace, In all fairness, he just anglicized it. The same way you probably spell Mikołaj Kopernik's name wrong.
I'm for stupid people rights and the sterilization of women
Well do we want the world to turn out like it did in Idiocracy?
What if you tell me? How about TOLD? How about Nikola? How about you don't post anonymously? What if I told you to quit trying to stir the sh×t pot.
Then.... I say let's make his wishes come true 👍🏻
What if I told you you shouldn't believe anything on the internet 😎
@another Aussie, Abraham Lincoln told me not to believe everything I heard on the internet
@I Are Lebo, funny Einstein told the exact same thing... What are the odds huh?
@another Aussie, approximately 3,720 to 1.
@I Are Lebo, "don't ever tell me the odds" -a dead guy
@another Aussie, I'm glad you caught the ref. 👍🏻
That would be directly shocking!!
What if I told you it's Nikola Tesla, not Nicolas
It's almost as if he lived in a time period where this was common
What if I told you that maybe it was all more propaganda from Thomas Edison. Just like when Thomas Edison try to denounce Teslas alternating current and took several of his ideas. Similar to how propaganda spread about Napoleon being short. When in fact Napoleon is not sure he's of average height. Unless I see proof. No meme speaks the truth.
Sounds like a Neoreactionary's wet dream.
He also thought he should be sterilized so at least he was consistent.
I'd tell you that's why he died a lonely virgin and even smart people can also have stupid beliefs.
Wow. So ahead of his time!
Ma man. 👊🏻
What if I told you his name wasn't Nicolas?
What if I told you that everyone you will ever meet or know about has at least one opinion or belief that you will disagree with.
It would make me respect him even more
What if I told you Nicolas Tesla lived in a time where those views were more accepted by society.
@Official Ice Bear, *Nikola
goddammit auto correct
Well he's half right
I would call him a saint.
Sounds like he was a believer in eugenics.
He was a genius!
Hey, he was smarter than any of us, who are we to say he's wrong?
I'd say de-sterilize SJWs, but I guess miracles do happen because apparently they're doing it themselves by pumping themselves full of hormones
Considering how many fake facts there are about Tesla I'd ask for sources
If he had succeeded in making power free i would've agreed with whatever he said.
Aaaand your point is?
That's a pic of nikola tesla...
F**k whoever that Nicholas guy is
I'd say hell yeah. He's got my vote this election
