I eat meat. Who says I wouldn't eat parts of bugs?
They're still delicious I don't care
This is fake
@benderama, They use a food grade shellac.
"Shellac is a resin secreted by the female lac bug, on trees in the forests of India and Thailand. It is processed and sold as dry flakes (pictured) and dissolved in ethanol to make liquid shellac, which is used as a brush-on colorant, food glaze and wood finish."
From Wikipedia article "Shellac"
@Kliment Voroshilov, but that's about a secretion they make, not their crushed up cocoons
@CentaurianHalfie, if I understand it correctly the secretion is used to create the cacoons.
@CentaurianHalfie, the secretions form hallow cocoons like structures which are harvested/processed to make "confectioners glaze" and other shellac products
@Kliment Voroshilov, They are the major source of Red 5, and have been used safely for centuries.
@FurriesRuinEvrything, I hope you didn't miss understand I wasn't in any way saying that I think it is unsafe or that it shouldn't be in food I was just trying to show what the actual source is.
@Kliment Voroshilov, I was simply trying to add extra info to your explanation. A lot of people don't (want to) know what things
@Kliment Voroshilov, ... are refined from.
@CentaurianHalfie, when harvesting the shellac, there will be the occasional bit of bug that isn't shellac, simply due to the amount that they have to collect.
@FurriesRuinEvrything, Oh I'm sorry for the confusion friend.
@Kliment Voroshilov, thank you for clarifying
@benderama, It's not fake its just not true anymore the stopped using it because it contained pasrts of an animal so they weren't vegan even though you would assume candy is vegan, except for smarties (the british kind) they just don't care.
@I Dexios Divine I, no, they don't use bananas.
@the fork, clever
@sassmonster , Avocados actually have more potassium and as do sweet potatoes
Fvck it. Taste the rainbow.
Is this supposed to scare me? I wouldn't eat bugs straight up, but many parts of the world do. If they can do it and be fine, then a bug part is nothing.
*pauses chewing a mouthful of skittles*
@TrueIrishLad1916, *resumes chewing*
I know *open-eyed lenny face*
So then candy has protein?
When M&Ms released limited edition Yellow and Green only suitable for vegetarian packet ❤
Cochineal. It also used to dye Coca Cola
Pffft... like us girls don't already eat secretions so we can get the gold card to go shopping
This really bugs me! No no one? Ok...
I've learned to never trust any "fun facts" on this app
When they say they contain natural ingredients they mean they don't say what kind of natural ingredients
I'm pretty sure there was a bug part in my suckered that I ate the other day. I licked my way down until I reached that part and scratched it off
@TheSeasonIAm, it's actually legal to have a few bug parts included in food. Its not many though it's like 1 for every million pieces made
@Assassinator2399, yeah I know, I wasn't surprised or grossed out. I was just thinking out of all suckers I get this one.
@TheSeasonIAm, that sucks man :\
*Vegetarians get triggered*
