@KeKesUHaulFacility , I can't tell if you're joking. On the off chance you aren't, there's almost nobody more racist than a racist black person. The shït that comes out of their mouth, with no thought as to the inappropriateness of it. Saying a black person cant be racist is like saying a woman can't be sexist, or an Asian person can't be a rapist. It's ignorant and stupid.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , quote: "Racist: a person who believes in racism, the doctrine that one's own racial group is superior or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others." So you saying that /black people can't be racist/ is, by definition, racist. Educate yo self, ya ignorant, fûcking racist, race baiting, dolt.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , okay. That settles it. You're an idiot. Racism is defined as discriminating against or for someone based on ethnicity or race. It has nothing to do with powerbase, or political pull, or population density, or any other factor. Anyone can be racist. They can even be racist against their own ethnicity. That's referred to as being 'self-hating'. I hope that I've educated you on this, because your statement that black people cannot be racist is wholly, 100% incorrect.
-
@KingHamletsGhost, I genuinely thought his first reply to me was a joke. I figured it was ridiculous on purpose. Didn't even occur to me until now that his comment "you think you're exempt" was serious. Like I'm being outrageous or that I'm stepping out of place by being "an exception" to white people that should feel guilty about black history. The irony is that's the most racist thing you can say. That anyone is in any way responsible for the actions of their ancestors is ridiculous! And yet, they're blaming people for the actions of ancestors of their ethnicity. THAT'S some racist shït there. And that's why I said black people tend to be the most racist of all. Their racism isn't based on feelings of superiority like 'white power' groups. Their racism is totally based on guilt. And I'm not having it. I won't be held liable for what my father does, let alone something his father's father's father's father MIGHT have done. Fück that shït.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , you are 100% wrong. You're very misinformed on this matter. The term for discrimination based on power is either classism or elitism. Racism is about race. Hence the 'Rac' part of the word. Also, if you understood what a Hegemony was, you wouldn't bring it up in such a fashion because it's being misused here. Is there an issue with racism against black people in western society? YES. Very much so. But the problem is coming from all sides. The issue isn't "white people enslaved black people now they won't apologize for it". It's much more complicated than that. But that's not the issue we are talking about. That's sidetracking.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , if a black bus driver refuses access to a white man for the sole reason of that man being white (or not being black), that is an act of racism. If a black news reporter thrusts a microphone into a white lady's face and asks her if she's ashamed of her slave owning grandparents when he has no idea who she is or wether or not her grandparents actually were slave owners, that is an act of racism. When a black person refers to Chinese people as Chinks, or Italian people as Wops, or Spanish people as Spics, it is every bit as racist as it would be if a white person used those same slurs. Get off your high horse.
-
@I Are Lebo, Classism describes systems of economic power, elitism doesn't really relate to any one system at all. I'm sorry you didn't understand my use of the word hegemony here, but it's not wrong, I'm conveying the idea that I want to. The issue boils down to this: yall fvcking hate us, so you make sure we hate ourselves too.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , you're doing a good enough job of hating for 10, maybe 15 people. If you were to, I dunno, not blame whitey for all your problems, and get on with living your life... you just might find that we all are born as humans, and we all end up dead just the same. Get over your hatred and find peace before you're worm food. Damn.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , if you're wondering why people don't take you seriously (and I guarantee you: they don't) this is why. It's getting to the point where people like you are complaining more than the people who were actually enslaved. The issue really boils down to ignorance and the spreading of ignorance. I'm sure you've faced a lot of racism in your life. But you are defending an argument without logic. Racism and prejudice are not the same thing. Racism is a form of prejudice. Racism is prejudice against race. This applies to any race. I'm also going to address the proverbial elephant in the room. How exactly are black people too low on power to be racist when the most powerful man in the world is currently a black man? Obama being president doesn't make racism nonexistent. But your argument fails to stand up even under its own flawed logic. If you have to warp the definition of words to make an argument, your stance is incorrect.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , I'm going to come right out and say it: if you genuinely think that black people are incapable of being racist by simple virtue of being black people, then you are functionally insane, and there's no point debating with you. Debating this further is like debating why two plus two equals potato. It's insanity.
-
@BigfootUnibrowMan, I think my #1 most ignorant person is an old ex user on here named ArchieTheSailor. He was a Creationism defender. My #2 is a crazy old man who cornered me in a basement apartment hallway in the middle of the day with no one else around to accuse me of being "a psychopath and a murderer" (at the time I was 25, and had about a hundred and fifty pounds on the guy)
-
@I Are Lebo, to add to what you've said. The problem is also there are quite a few people that don't know the difference between poverty and racism. White people can be broke and poor too. Thus the phrase poor white thrash. All white people aren't rich and all black people aren't poor. Work hard, everyone has their own challenges they have to face to reach their goals, using race or blaming others for you being poor will never make you rich. You have to earn what you have, unless you were born into a rich family. You'll have to work hard to pay your bills just like the rest of us do.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility, As both a Black person and a White person I can attest that black people can be racist and the myth that "black people can't be racist" isn't widely believed in the black or liberal community. I believe that Racism/Sexist/Homophobia etc. is present in all of us. We find these constructs comfortable because our brains like to organize data (such as all whites = corrupt). It depends on how much we resist these untrue stereotypes we place on each other. But I think the point he should be making is that the power behind the racism of whites is greater. A black person can hurt a white persons feelings with racism. But when we say Power we mean that the person holding an opportunity (i.e. Job Offer/Promotion/Scholarship) is more likely to be white. So the racism of white people is more likely to affect more than just our feelings. Whites don't need to be guilty, we should all just be mindful that these things are just apart of our society.
-
@I Are Lebo, and to add more to what you said. Some confuse racism with someone just being an asshole. I think it needs to be pointed out, but just because someone treats you poorly then odds are it's probably because that person was an asshole. If your first thought when someone treats you bad that has a different skin color is, that they are racist. But you don't consider people who treat you that way of the same skin color. Than perhaps you should be asking if you're the racist one. Someone I used to know told me. You can be the nicest person but 10,000 people out of 1 million will hate you for no reason whatsoever. Yeah racism is a bad thing and it does happen. But I'm starting to think the real issue in America is it's just full of assholes. Just because an asshole treats a black person as poorly as they treat the people of their same skin color. Doesn't mean they are racist. If they treat everyone poorly. They are just a poor excuse for a human.
-
@Seohn, very well put. The difference between a racist act and indecent act is motive, and even then, a racist act is still an indecent one. As a Jew, I've never understood anti-semitism, nor it's increasing prevalence in the world today. Jews make up less than 1% of the worlds population, yet so many groups choose us as the scapegoat for all that's wrong in their lives. It's insanity. And the problem is, you can't argue against insanity. Not using logic or reason, anyway.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , and by the way, you saying that white people hate black people, and we want to make black hate themselves, makes you a hypocrite considering one of the first things you said to me in this thread was "own your shame". You said to me that I should have shame, simply for being white (or Jewish). That makes YOU racist (and/or anti-Semitic). It makes you a hypocrite, it makes you ignorant, it makes you intolerant, but mostly it just makes you an asshole.
-
@ScarletSpiderClone, Alright, so let's say I love to use the wrong terminology for things and black people can be racist. If black people's "racism" amounts to hurting white people's feelings, and white people's racism amounts to denied access from jobs, proper education, and things like that then why in God's name should I even care about black "racism" just as much as I care about white racism? How can that be expected of me? There's a stark difference between the two expressions of "racism", one is clearly more grave than another, so why should I even worry about the other one while that's going on? Like, you guys are saying I'm the one making no sense but that's just a silly idea. Prioritizing your feelings over someone's real, actual life and their access to things to better themselves is like, abusive.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , Please explain how it affects your ability to get a proper education when black people get a bonus of 230 points on SAT scores when applying to college. Please explain how it affects your ability to get a job when there's a law that makes some businesses hire black people. Also, how many people are actually racist towards blacks and wouldn't give them the job because of that? I would think not many. Maybe it's because they're looking for who's the most qualified for the position, which may end up not being a black person. And as for blacks being racist and hurting white people's feelings? Hypothetically speaking, if a racist black person is the manager of part of a company and a white person applies for a job but doesn't get it because they're white, is that merely hurting their feelings? Or is it "actually" racism? Please, do explain. A simple white person like me can't even begin to understand you and your massive intellect.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , you are employing selective listening. There is more to racism than 'blacks hurting white feelings'. That example I gave of the bus driver happened to me. A black driver on the Viva on three separate occasions refused me access on the bus. He wouldn't even stop if I was the only person at the stop. I reported him, and it came out that it was a racial thing. He hated white people. Racism is racism. A hate crime is a hate crime no matter who the victim or perpetrator is, nor which specific ethnicities they belong to. You elevating black rights above white rights is every bit as racist as someone elevating white rights above blacks rights. You are the most racist person here.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , proper education? It's not the governments job to keep kids from dropping out. Must be nice to get free money for college because of your skin color. There are no scholarships given for being white. Ever hear the phrase dress for the job you want? I have seen poorly dressed people waiting for interviews so of course those people were not going to get the job. Knowing how to talk properly, dress, and answer questions in an interview for a job can drastically increase your chance of getting it. A skill that is not taught in any school. Dressing like a CEO, clearly speaking your words without using slang, and showing enthusiasm even if you lack the knowledge to do a job in an interview will greatly increase your chances of getting the job. Skin color may sometimes be used to prevent some people from getting a job. But as a whole Dressing bad and poor language are the real culprits. Pay attention to how people dress and speak next time you are at an interview.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , I recognize that I'm not going to get through to you. You are so unwilling to challenge your view of the world that nothing I can say will penetrate. Fortunately, that's not my problem. You've outed yourself as a racist person, one who uses faulty logic and spurious reasoning to get to a conclusion that is false. What this means is that your opinion is not worth listening to.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , racism is very obvious. Treating other differently base on their skin color. You want equality? Want racism to go away? Then all forms of racism have to be treated equally. You can't let one race blame all their problems on another and says it's not racism because they were treated unfairly in the past. That's not how it works. With racism it's all or nothing. Otherwise if never stops.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , That's what I was trying to say, your point is factual and the power gap between Black and White Racism is so wide that Black Racism for the most part doesn't matter, except in the realm of feelings (which is important). The feelings are important because some people can't have a conversation about race without feeling like they are being called a "racist" or think they are being made to feel "guilty" for their ancestors sins. (Not referring to any moment in this thread, just in general). I don't think anyone sitting on the toilet looking at a Meme App is part of the man. But long story short, I'm on your side. P.S. As far as terminology, hey I could be wrong, but the definition of racism is so warped that any definition could be challenged.
-
@ashfeather243, Blacks don't get a literal 230 point "bonus" on SAT scores, this is from a Princeton study that found that College Acceptance is weighted more in favor of Black giving them virtually a 230 point bonus. This is also true of Legacy Students and Athletes. But the reason this is weighted this way is because the college boards understand that there are deficiencies in their acceptance programs. As far as jobs, there have been studies that show that people with black sounding names are 50% less likely to be called in for an interview. So Affirmative Action never worked the way it should, it only helps Blacks in particular fields. But it's not holding white people back either. As with the Abigail v Board of Education, there were many Black Students that had better test scores than Abagail that didn't get accepted either. Racism and AA are constructs that exist. (I'm inclined to think that Racism is a bigger deal but whatevs) Neither really holds us back if we work hard enough
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , Since you brought education into this discussion. I'll impart knowledge and wisdom I have learned through the years. Being smart and being educated is a selfish pursuit. What I mean by that is this. If a child receives a poor education. It's not the fault of the school alone. You can be given lessons. You can be given an education. But it's up to the child and each individual to actively want to learn. It's up to the child's parents to encourage their children to want to learn and pursue knowledge. And the thing about knowledge is that it's not gained just at school. If you're at a bad school then you seek knowledge outside of it. I didn't learn to build computers at school. I actively pursued how to do it on my own. I'm not learning to speak Japanese at school. I'm actively pursuing on my own how. Education is like an overweight person. You can show them diets and tell them about exercises. But it's up to them to actually do it.
-
@KeKesUHaulFacility , If a child doesn't have parents that go out of their way to help them get a proper education both in and "out" of school, if they don't encourage them to seek knowledge, and the child doesn't want to learn. Then the fault falls on them. Not the system. With the internet and libraries. There are plenty of places to educate oneself now a days. If you think school is the only place to receive an education then that's on you.
-
@Seohn, this is it exactly. The US doesn't have a race problem so much as a culture problem. Poor people (black, white, etc) with lack of respect for anyone are going to have a hard time getting good jobs. Why? Because they don't dress, speak, or act appropriately. Even if they somehow managed to get the education.
-
@I Are Lebo, .... Your level of patience for this guy is almost angelic.... Bravo sir. bravo... As an Aussie I have been watching in a state of aww lately the stupidity coming out of the states and I can't tell anymore if it's getting worse... Black lives matter, feminism, social justice warriors... All of whom mean well but are all 50 years late... Everything they fight for was amended decades ago ... So I guess I just want to ask what's your opinion on the 3 I just mentioned?
-
@another Aussie, well, black lives matter is a good idea implemented in maybe the worst possible way. I understand the tensions and troubles, but the way that young black men are lashing out is only going to make things worse for them. They're mad because they're treated like punks, so in retaliation they act like punks. There's no long term thinking going on with them. Feminism is a similar problem. The people that they lash out towards aren't the source of mysogeny, they're just the most convenient target. It goes back to that argument regarding anti spousal abuse or anti rape advertisements and programs. Nobody who abuses their wife or rapes women is going to take note of those. It comes from a fundamental misunderstanding. People who abuse, rape, hurt, steal, etc., don't do so because they are weak or stupid or don't know any better. They do it because they disregard morals as irrelevant. They do those things because they choose to, and most of them will only stop when forced to.
-
@another Aussie, as for Social Justice Warriors, it's hard to tell the difference between an SJW and someone who likes to debate/argue. I myself enjoy a good debate, regardless of the topic. If I manage to sway someone's opinion, whether that of the person I'm debating with or an onlooker, that's icing on the cake. It's also a good thing if my own opinion is swayed, because that means I learned something or had my views challenged, and as a result I've grown as a person. I would like nothing more than to help a random stranger become a better person via debate. This is very rare, but I still enjoy the debate. The difference between that and SJWs is motive. Nothing has ever been solved in an argument over the Internet. Ever. People who get into these types of arguments help no one, least of all themselves, especially since the topics that social justice warriors fight over are, more often than not, completely irrelevant. It's a waste of everyone's time and effort.
-
@another Aussie, so to summarize, black lives matter is a movement doomed to make things worse for themselves due to poor tactics, feminism is becoming more and more of a joke due to poor choice of target as well as poor tactics, and true social justice warriors are a waste of space. Also, thank you for the complement. I've been working on my patience and not getting frustrated. I have some anger issues I've been focusing on fixing.
OOOOHHHHHH she said he ain't go no nippaaalllllllllllls!
