I believe Stockholm syndrome refers to that one bank robbery in which the hostages became attached to the guy robbing the bank/holding them hostage.
@RelevantComments, It's also in any other hostage situation like kidnapping. It happens when the captive starts believing any not specifically mean thing they do is being nice. It's named after a Stockholm case where hostages actually help the guy escape. The more you know.
@BlizzX123, I think it's when the hostages start feeling empathy and sympathy and positive feelings toward their captor, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness.
