Serious question- does anyone on here struggle with substance abuse?... Asking for a friend
@libertarianlife, if you're for real, get some rehab. Not saying any help from our community won't be beneficial, but that seems like the kind of thing that needs a specialized kind of attention and help. But I do hope some of our members can share their wisdom on these types of things.
@libertarianlife, i personally havent but i have family that has. My brother was addicted to heroin and pills. He started young and it only got worse, it took a huge toll on the family since he would steal money and stuff from everyone to get his drugs. Hes clean now and doimg much better. However my sister also is addicted to pills and she has scarred her 2 boys for the rest of their lives because theyve seen her od. My mom currently has custody of those boys and my sister still has problems and it affects the boys in the worst way. Moral of the story here is yeah substance abuse may make you feel better about coping with life but it makes life for family much much worse. If you really were asking for a friend, suggest help because you cant get through it alone. If its for yourself then please seek help because as someone whos had his family torn apart by substance abuse i know how hard it is for family members watching it.
@libertarianlife, recovering alcoholic here. It's tough, but it can be done. Need a lending ear, I'm here.
@celtics313131, I've had the same problem with my girlfriends father. For the past 9 months me and my gf have known each other he consistsnlty gets heavily drunk and proceeds to become quite verbally aggressive to me and her. Almost physically towards me. I'm 16 and she's 15 and its very very rare that he's not trying to commit suicide or get himself drunk. If you or your friend need some advice in coping or my advice for getting help please please please do not hesitate to talk to me. Best of luck to you both :)
@libertarianlife, oh yeah, and I'm high functioning, so people haven't taken me seriously when I've reached out for help.
@libertarianlife, id say he around as manny friends as you can, don't isolate yourself
@libertarianlife, drugs, alcohol, you name it. Ive been clean for 3 months now, it's been a tough road. And the addiction has definitely had a negative impact on my life, but I'm recovering and learning from my mistakes.
@libertarianlife, I'm pretty sure I'm a high functioning alcoholic, I still go to work, I do my job but days off are usually a blur, drinking leads to other....bad things for me too, it's just life, gotta keep going
@libertarianlife, youre going to need something only you can make. will power. if you can get the will power to stop yourself from substances then you'll be fine. if you honestly cant stop then thst proved youre a weak human. do you want to be a weak human? prove to that shjt substance youre better then it by throwing it away and not getting more.
@Connor1957, I've been clean for 2 years. Thx. I'm Sry about her dad. Addiction is a weird, terrible bad thing. I hope he gets help before he hurts you or her. Good luck
@Logybear, keep going, but do it in the right direction homie. Get help, it will only decline and end up ruining something, somebody or your life bro. Please
@celtics313131, you too buddy, all the best
Makes me glad I graduated last year. Now all I need is a job. Wish me luck at my interview of Wednesday!
@BulbousBiscuit, what are you interviewing for?
@Bonersaurus, just a position at an ALDI but it's full time work and it pays twice as well as my current part time employment at a McDonalds
@BulbousBiscuit, well good luck!
It's the only way to escape all that student debt.
Death by car accident, or suffer through this semesters first set of midterms.....*sweats nervously, and profusely*
Hitting you going full speed wont do you any good if you die. You have to make sure youre injured enough to get money but not dead
