@Fat Beef, fun fact, he used to go to the Seattle science center for conventions and they had to teach the staff there that when bill showed up not to talk to him because he would notoriously show up sh!t faced with scantily clad women and chew out workers and call them all morons. My current boss used to work at a bike store in Seattle and bill nye is banned there cause he would tell the staff they didn't know sh!t about what they were talking about.

I mean, even his "anti" GMO stance video he made was pretty neutral. He basically just said, as in all science, GMOs should be ensured to be safe through testing trials. You know, like drugs are tested, or other things. It wasn't like he was saying that they are evil and cause cancer. Anyways, gotta love Bill Nye. He'll always be my science guy.

@Doctor Krieger, I watched the video, he didn't explicitly say "we need to jail the deniers" like some are saying, what i understood him to say was that people who are making money on denying climate change (like CEOs of fossil fuel companies) and spreading doubt might be considered liable in the same way they went after Enron execs and tobacco execs after it came out they knowingly misled the public. It's still a somewhat bold statement, but i think he's saying we've been through similar stuff before. I, in no way, see him saying layperson denies need to be jailed.

@Leprechaun Giant, also he does not say that only the executives would be jailed he moves on to say when asked about a "chilling effect" or silencing people who disagree with him he says "That there is a chilling effect on scientists who are in extreme doubt about climate change, I think that is good." Right there he says essentially if we can silence people who disagree with us "I think that is good."

@Smurf309fs, This is not ad hominem, I have provided a source listed in my comments above and I am opposed to his stated position that it is acceptable to jail people who disagree with him on climate change. Tell me exactly how being in disagreement with his stated position can be interpreted as character assassination?

@Nigel Powers, it's not that unpopular. He'll always be the science guy, but he is way too obnoxious about being atheist. I'm agnostic, but I would never tell parents not to teach their kids about religion. He's actually said that, told parents it was wrong to try to raise their kids with religion. It's absurd. We get it bill, you're atheist, now let the religious people raise their kids as they want.
Bill Nye is a national treasure.
