Equality for genders!?!? Say it ain't so!!
@Zoomahkroom, parity and equality aren't the same.
@Zoomahkroom, woman wanted to step up and take on the liabilities of man. no they are bítčhīng when they get what they want. just like a woman.
@Doctor Krieger, my love is a life taker....
1) The Daily Mail supports the Conservative Party (from the UK; holds similar principles to US Republicans), so this isn't a "liberal double standard." This is "conservative sexism, if you're gonna insist on generalizing. Which you shouldn't.
2) As a feminist I see nothing wrong with fathers getting equal time. Any person who thinks there's something wrong with this isn't a true feminist (eg, a second wave "girl power" feminist) as modern feminists do desire actual gender equality.
3) Daily mail is a horrible news source which favors sensationalism and emotion over actual journalism.
@abossassbitch, daily mail is not conservative at all from what i've seen on their snapchat BS articles, feel free to correct me though
@MattiBRaps, I found several third party websites online saying it's conservative, right wing, etc. I just googled it, so it's easy to check for yourself.
Again, it's conservative for the U.K., which is similar but not identical to US republicans.
@abossassbitch, daily mail is the most cancerous news media in UK. It isn't a matter of political stance, as daily mail chat so much shīte and are fake news
@MattiBRaps, they are really conservative, they always back the Conservative party, in the 1930s they infamously praised nazi germany and wrote articles saying that Britain should follow the Germans example. They haven't improved since then, notably the papers two main nicknames have been the daily heil (for the aforementioned nazi support) and the daily fail (because of the awful journalism there)
@abossassbitch, if it's on snapchat then it is barely conservative if conservative at all
@tylersmileyface, That is literally horrible logic. Plus I actually checked this, factually, with multiple sources. But I guess that facts and sources don't matter anymore
@abossassbitch, it's not logic.. its just the truth. Have you looked at the things snapchat has on there? Mostly liberally influenced. I am not trying to start an argument because I could care less either way. Have a good day.
@tylersmileyface, Lol then why comment..
@abossassbitch, because that is a double standard, regardless of who tells the story. It may not be quite the same for you bits, but custody in the states is built to favor the mothers.
@abossassbitch, lol the last 5 letters of your username are probably the most accurate.
You really replied an irrelevant rant to his statement.
Beyond that, the type of "feminist" you claim to be is in fact the minority.
my mother won custody of me, kicked me out to my fathers when I was 13, spent the next 4 years living off ramen noodles and blankets for heaters in the winter because she never stopped child support until I graduated high school. Good on the court.
Because it's not like fathers are parents too or anything...
(I'm a feminist and even I'm pissed off at this article. I swear to god if it's real...)
@Fantabulous Toaster, it's real. Just read the whole thing. Well, I tried to read the whole thing. I got too pissed off at the blatant stupidity, double standards, and sexism.
@Fantabulous Toaster, Seriously. I'm a father of (soon to be) two girls, and at this point, my life would be nothing without them. Not that I'd expect to ever be in the position to battle for custody, but if I did, I would not take it lightly.
@Fantabulous Toaster, As I mentioned above, Daily Mail is a sh!t news source. So yes it's real but it's not from liberals or feminists.
Be careful when you ask for equality. You might get it.
Oh the huMANity
@DigBickAiryHanus, WILL SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!
Well yes it's from the daily mail, the British equivalent of fox news. Of course it's stupid
Someone can't do math....
@itouchedthebutt, because of school, work, etc. weekdays are shorter, so the weekends end up being closer to equal
Dude.. I'm a 50/50 dad and this lady is being a stick up bitch. My kid ask for me more then her mom, and I make a point to be there for my kid as much as i can, so much so I changed to a different section of my industery I work in to be there. Moms like this get off your high horses. Maybe you shouldn't have procreated with such deadbeat dad. This article shouldn't apply to all.
After reading through all the comments, I feel for all of you dads out there that desire more time with their kids, and can't because of antiquated biases. If both parents are capable and aren't doing things that would endanger the children, then there should be equity in visitation. You dads out there reading this, don't give up hope, be there for your kids the best way you can until you can petition for change that truthfully is in everyone's best interest especially the kids. Good luck to you all.
Written by a woman. Probably a feminist who has yet to get laid.
@Professor Xavier, Or maybe it's written by a conservative media outlet. But hey, that wouldn't fit the narrative, would it?
@abossassbitch, The media outlet that she wrote for is irrelevant. The author's political identity is what concerns me. She's a feminist. Google "The 'agony' of being a 50/50 mother? Oh please. It's called equality - and fathers deserve their share just as much as women". By Peter Lloyd.
@Professor Xavier, It does matter that it's conservative media. Unless you're saying you know the author is definitely liberal?
On the note of equality - if you read my above comment you can see I agree with you. Men and women should share equal responsibility in parenting unless one parent is abusive, etc. The court bias to women as sole or main caretakers is sexist. (Real) Feminism agrees with you.
This is not a conservative belief. Not here in the US at least. And I read the US Daily Mail (among other news sources). There is plenty of liberal spin and yes, a lot of sensationalism. In the US, this type of situation would be something the liberals would tend to argue for, while screaming about equal rights for all genders.
@RogueKnight, Everything else you said aside, I don't think you truly understand modern liberalism. Conservatives (and yes also liberals in the opposite way) have been fed a false narrative of the extreme or hypocritical liberals speaking for the majority. Like college safe space liberals who shut out any opposing opinion. This isn't the norm or what it truly stands for. So yes when we say we want gender equality we want it in this way too, in that fathers get equally considered as parents. In fact the opposite is sexism of the courts to assume it's a woman's job or that she's the only one who can do it/ is meant for it. So believe what you want if you just wanna fit the narrative, but most feminist articles I read which mention gender equality issues that affect men (yes we care about ALL GENDERS), they mention this sort of court bias.
@abossassbitch, I appreciate you sharing. I really do. And I agree both viewpoints are fed an extreme rhetoric of the otherside's beliefs. I'm basing my remarks on conversations I have had with liberal friends and co-workers.
@RogueKnight, Yeah I mean again there are those that don't represent the majority. At least of what I've seen both online and of my friend group, most liberals do want actual equality. But I have seen or had people I know who don't really mean what they say. But they don't really represent the movement anyway in my opinion, because as people have pointed out, it's hypocritical
Wait, is this actually serious? I can't tell if this is a serious article or if the author was feeling exceptionally sarcastic.
I'm pretty left wing and I approve of equal custody when neither parent is abusive.
As a father to a child I don't have equal access to (alternating weekends, child lives out of town with mother and new husband), and not even consulted on major decisions with nothing I can do to stop it, this way of thinking pissed me off. 50/50 with two loving parents should be best case in a split, not a loss. This particular woman is selfish, and I hope the father is a humble man who will teach their child to be less ignorant.
@Genosis, I feel for you man. I was fortunate enough to be awarded full custody of the two younger of three kids with my ex. Better still, she supported it and still does, mostly because she moved out of state. We haven't always seen eye to eye, and there was some bitterness on my part because of the circumstances of our separation. But we both got over it and forgave each other so our kids never felt like they had to side with one or the other. We continue to co-parent along with the current SOs. It has been the best thing for the kids. It's been tough for my ex to not be around for those everyday things like the article mentions, but because we didn't let pettiness get in the way of seeing what was the best for each of our children (our oldest is special needs and still lives with her fulltime as a 20yo) we have well adjusted, functioning children who are going to be amazingly successful and happy adults. On a personal level I probably love her more now than I ever did before.
I had a lady judge preside over my custody case with my ex. Without any reasonable evidence I am no longer allowed to have unsupervised or overnight visits with my own daughter.
Only being a parent 50% of the time and doing whatever the fvck you wanna do the other 50%??? Sounds like an amazing deal!
Every weekend is only 2/7ths
Unless there is legitimate reasons (abuse, unsafe etc) I think Dad's should have the kids as often as he wants and what the kids want. I loathe women who keep kids from their dads for no reason. And here I am, coming from a divorce where mum left and we wouldn't see her for years, and I have a child whose father isn't interested in his kid. Apparently me ringing him and asking him to call his child makes him feel guilty and I deserve abuse for that 🙄
I have no words...
Gets 50/50 custody, still has to pay child support to the mother
It's things like this that make me laugh at femenazis. Sometimes they just need a good old punch in the cunt to realize just how stupid they are. I wanna end this by saying feminism is wonderful, I'm talking about the deranged men hating psychopaths.
Im glad they are finally giving fit parents the right to see their children! It sexists to give one parent priority due to their sex.
What are we?!
And what do whe want?!
- equal treatment!
When do we want it?!
- as long as it benefits us or doesnt make our lives more difficult!
Someone else has said it, and I shall repeat it. I love women but they really do need men to tell them when to shut the fuсk up because they exist at the whim of their emotions and are incapable of logic and reason. Speaking from experience, not misogyny
Some kids are just better off with their dads though. Maybe the mom has an addiction that can negatively effect the children
Eff these bitches!!!
Sh!t like this almost makes me want to take up the title of "MRA".
If you replace every "mummy", "mum", etc. with "father"-esque phrases, this would have the exact same message, but it wouldn't be considered news.
