Actually humans are getting more intelligent as time goes on. What's changed is that stupid people now have a platform to inform the entire world of their stupidity.
@mb2439, we're actually getting physically weaker
@mb2439, I agree. Once upon a time (aka before the late 90s/ early 2000s), if you did something completely moronic, it was a localised event, whispered about and exaggerated by a small group. Now, castrate yourself trying to grind a rail, and it literally get millions of YouTube views in the first week.
Stupidity is the plague, and the Internet is the carrier.
@eleven, that's different from getting more intelligent. But not entirely surprising, as less and less humans are in physical labor intensive jobs as automation increases. It's less a necessity to be strong now than a desire. Will probably change after the robot revolution
@Page 394, if we don't blow ourselves up first
@eleven, yeah that's a scarily real possibility
@Page 394, what's scary is how likely it is
@eleven, gotta love when the leaders of the world's biggest nuclear arsenals are a tad crazy
@Page 394, a tad is a major understatement
@eleven, unfortunately. I wonder how this compares to the Cuban Missile crisis in terms of "oh shít" levels
@Page 394, it's not quite that bad but many of the leaders are completely incompetent it was never meant to get this far
@eleven, true. It's a different type of fear now. I'm genuinely not sure if MAD is in the minds of our major world leaders anymore.
@Page 394, good point
@mb2439, the average human will walk into a store with "Cash only" on a sign on the doors, counter, and hanging from the ceiling in several other places, walk up to the clerk, and with a straight face ask if they can pay with debit or credit. Most will wait until AFTER said clerk has rung up all of their purchases.
Most of us are pretty fücking stupid.
@Suicide Squad Sucks, not only that but why would we write down dumb ideas in a textbook or teach kids about it . Sampling bias
@I Are Lebo, in modern society its just kinda of an assumption that places takes debit/credit. I have never been to a cash only place in my life, kid to adult, that i can remember
@dirtywenis, I have been to many. Also places that normally take debit can have machine errors
@mb2439, The scientific theory for that is called the Flynn Effect, showing that the average IQ increases with each generation.
@mb2439, it must have been nice, back in the day, walking to the next town over and starting a new life haha. What nah man I don't have a wife or kids or a small burnt down ranch bro.
That's the plot of idiocracy
@Andred, it's got electrolytes.
@Totrollornottotroll, Just like Brawndo
@Andred, welcome to Costco I love you
@Totrollornottotroll, it's what plants crave
@Andred, documentaries don't have plots.
@Andred, I was about to say. I didn't think I would like that movie, but after watching it it turned into one of my favorites of all time.
@Totrollornottotroll, hold on, gotta swing by Starbucks for a hand job
@Andred, scary how the gap between that movie and real life is narrowing.
@Andred, As adapted from Nostradamus's lesser known second book.
It also creates antibiotic-resistant superdiseases that could kill us
And more and more people have access to education, at least compared to previous times. So...I dunno 'bout that.
@ThePoison, they have access to it, but they don't take advantage of the opportunity
@ThePoison, dem city folk things, my street smarts get me by just fine. Now scuse me while I go riot and destroy my own neighborhood
Modern politics, not medicine, are responsible for lack of consequences.
Just like Idiocracy.
Success breeds failure
