Its never safe as long as any of those bastards are running for office
@MMSieBreeze, they can run for office all they want... it is all just a show
@MMSieBreeze, notice the downvoters lololololol
@seeUpee, wonder if its the ghost of liberachi...
@MMSieBreeze, even if he hadn’t dropped out he wouldn’t have made it through the primaries
It’d also be basically impossible to implement in the first place given that it’s a blatant violation of the 2nd amendment so I’m not particularly worried about it at the moment
@MMSieBreeze, are you surprised that a post vaguely attacking (i assume?) all 2020 dem candidates was downvoted?
@Obsolete , i wasnt attacking just the 2020 dem candidates...i was attacking all dems in general...and no..the downvotes dont bother me..
@MMSieBreeze, you think all dems advocate for banning guns?
edit: im more refering to politicians than people...but whatever
@MMSieBreeze, not all Democrats want to ban guns, I think it's crazy how some of them talk about forcing people to turn them in at designated locations or criminalizing owning a firearm. I support gun ownership, but I am not a Republican. All that can be done about restricting gun sales I think has been done, but the NRA needs to get their sh!t stained hands out of politics, and we need to figure out how to cooperate more with the police, because we're definitely better off with them, than without them.
@MMSieBreeze, here bud, I'll upvote you and @seeUpee just to help negate those pussies that downvoted you two. ^_^
@SeelenVerKaufer , Ahahah thanks man. I have no problem as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I laughed with Breeze bc it took no time to get a downvote
@PsychedelicCow, if you want the nra put of it then planned parenthood neess to go as well
@seeUpee, same mentality..its their right to disagree if they want. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
@MMSieBreeze, hell yeah! As a naturalized American, I love this country and all the freedom that it has. With some determination, hard work and perseverance, I am living the American dream!!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
@MMSieBreeze, we downvoting yall for bringing ur shít politics into our sacred meme app
@The Soul Harvester, uhm...the meme itself was political...to expect anything else was extremely niave. Regardless, your opinion is always appreciated, and on that note, what is your take on the subject? Do you have a valid response or just more "fvck your politics"?
@MMSieBreeze, fvck your plitics
@The Soul Harvester, lmao, well said sir. Thank you for your highly intellectual contribution to the conversation.
@MMSieBreeze, quiet pretty boy
@The Soul Harvester, quite a bold move for you to not only assume my gender but my attractiveness...*in gretta thunburnswhatevers voice* how dare you!
@MMSieBreeze, i'll cut off ur lips and tape them to my dogs mouth
@The Soul Harvester, that would be not only be a tragedy to women across the globe, but also animal cruelty...do you torture animals often?
@MMSieBreeze, I torture the souls of the dead
@The Soul Harvester, so you not only torture animals....but you also desecrate the bodies of humans? Gotta ask..are you a necropheliac?
@The Soul Harvester, what are you a 13 year old emo?
@MMSieBreeze, The first sentence of the paragraph below is just to explain my perspective and give background to the second sentence, which contains the point of my comment (so if you reply, please respond to the second sentence).
Having grown up in a basically gun-free country, I don’t personally see the need for civilians to have all those guns. That said, I really don’t see any realistic way your government could ever actually take them away from you even if they wanted to. What are they going to do? Send the Marines house to house to search for anything they’ve decided to ban? Nah, it just sounds like the election rhetoric of someone playing to their core supporters.
@Nellybert , what country, just to satisfy my curiosity and consider the politics of your country?
@Dangerous Dan Spivey, UK. Wasn’t going to get in to the politics of it all, just saying that if the US government suddenly legislated to ban (again, not getting in to politics or the Constitution) a type of gun, I can’t really see how that could be practically enforced.
Banning the manufacture/sale of (to borrow a term from general use, I know it’s not technically accurate) ‘assault rifles’ would be fairly straightforward (enforcement wise, not Constitutionally) - just tell Armalite etc not to make them. But taking them from citizens? Nah, not so easy. That line sounds like election posturing rather than a serious idea.
@Nellybert , I appreciate you taking the time and thought to answer. I wanted to hear your opinion. It's a complex issue for sure. I think most people know that but add political agendas to it and it becomes impossible to solve and stalemates. Beto wanted to decriminalize certain crimes but make gun ownership a crime which was immensely stupid and pandered hard to the extreme left. NRA wants to cater to manufacturers and sell guns regardless of body count.
@Dangerous Dan Spivey, No worries, I just really want to avoid looking like I’m talking about 2A - that takes the conversation in a whole other direction!
We hear almost nothing about the candidates at this point (generally only picks up when it’s the final couple of contenders) so I’ve heard very little about Beto. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess he’s pro-choice, wants to legalise cannabis, would relax immigration criteria, and wants to ban assault rifles?
@Nellybert , Understood. Since we're talking about politics, it becomes very nuanced... His most controversial position ended up being about seizing assault weapons and "rounds used on the battlefield". His position on the Mexican border was confusing... he wanted to remove the physical barrier and "tell success stories of integrated neighborhoods in border towns" but he stated he wasn't for open borders. He was for "decriminalization of minor, non-violent crimes". Legalization of cannabis. So some of these points were very nebulous.
@Dangerous Dan Spivey, This is why I dislike election periods (we’re going through one too) - politicians stop talking in the details required for actual laws, and start talking in vague/non-committal hyperbole. Makes it almost impossible to pin them down to what they will actually do if elected. Over here, for example, the Labour Party are saying that they will ‘sort Brexit’ in six months if they win - but they refuse to say whether they’re for it or against it, or what ‘sorting it’ actually means. (Its be like a US candidate saying they would ‘sort out the border wall’ but refusing to say if that meant finishing building it, or knock down what’s already there).
@MMSieBreeze, oh they can run alright for all I care, I am all for them running...*loads a .50 caliber HEIAP round* oh they can run
@Nellybert , theyve already got a law to be able to bypass youre 2A and your right to due process called "red flag laws" where anyone can for any reason without proof, go to the police and habe your firearms taken from you. They want to pass mandatory registration and put high taxes on even owning a firearm. The logistics of enforcing the registration and taxation of preowned unregistered firearms is beyond me at this time.
@Nellybert , best wishes on selecting the least sketchy candidate, mate.
@Dangerous Dan Spivey, The race for the job of Prime Minister is currently between the womanising posh lad, and the scruffy looking ‘former’ Communist. Oh, with the ‘so far outside the race it’s just comedy value’ candidate being the environmentalists who wants to bankrupt the country but claims it’s okay as we’ll all get free loft insulation. 🙄
If you know of any survivalist militias living in an isolated mountain compound that can sponsor me for a Green Card, please let me know......
@MMSieBreeze, Speaking purely hypothetically (I don’t know any details on the laws or how they’ve been used) I can see the potential benefit of a red flag law. For example, if you can take the guns away from a would-be school shooter before they commit the act, you both save lives and protect the rights of all other gun owners (no shooting = no one calling to take your guns away). But it all comes down to application, and I don’t know how the law is being used, and you risk getting in to Minority Report territory here.
For registration, I guess you could take a long term view and make registration of transfer mandatory - so if you buy a gun, give it to a mate, or leave it in your will, they’ll eventually have details of all legally owned firearms. Quite how they could tax ownership I don’t know either - maybe an annual fee for a license?
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , HEIAP?
@MMSieBreeze, Soul Harvester has got a huuuuge hard on for you... watch out!
@Ultimatum, that’s what we said about Trump
@Nellybert , High Explosive Incendiary Armor Pircing
@PsychedelicCow, y is it seen as an atrocity if someone is backed by the nra but it’s seen as good if they’re backed by some shïtty organization like peta
@LilPuppyOfDOOM , In one bullet? That sounds like a great way to put a hole through your target, set fire to the guy behind him, and blow up the person behind them.....
@The Soul Harvester, lol. First time?
@Nellybert , since you’re from UK, the history of what England has done to Scotland, Ireland should give you everything you need to know about why “civilians need guns”
Or has the entire history of humanity changed so much that a government will never oppress and become tyrannical again?
@Nellybert , in california your coworker or boss can have your firearms confiscated untill you get s hearing with a judge, their going by guilty until proven innocent and thats not how this country works. Those who would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither.
@big freedom, Agree to disagree. I’ll just refer you back to the actual point I was making - however you feel about guns, there’s no way your government would actually be able to take them from you if they wanted to.
@Nellybert , all of them? No. But some individuals? It’s already started, and people are dying (civilians and cops)
@GunLovingMerican, Every time there’s a mass shooting, someone points at crazy posts on social media and says something like “why did no one see the signs and take his guns away before he did this?” I guess they’re trying to find a way to target those they consider a serious danger to others, without going down the route of infringing the rights of all gun owners.
But as with the comment above, I’m just gonna refer you back to the actual point I was making - even if your government decided to ban all guns, there’s no way they’d actually be able to take them from you.
@Nellybert , if they had to have evidence before theyd confiscate the guns id understand but they dont, they only have to say they think that your unstable and thats all they need to hear before they come and confiscate your firearms. Or atleast thats how i understand it.
@GunLovingMerican, Do they have to present evidence to a judge within a set period of time, or anything like that? (Sort of like habeas corpus for fine).
I can see the point of being able to move swiftly - if there’s a reason to believe that the person is an imminent threat to others (such as their neighbour hearing them screaming that they’re going to go murder their old boss and anyone else in the building) you need to move fast. But if they’re just swooping in and arbitrarily confiscating legally owned firearms with no means of legal defence/redress for the individual, then that doesn’t sit right with me (and can it be constitutional?)
*cries in Virginian*
@MrJojo, jk, fvck 'em they aren't taking shjt from us
Lotta people being a$$holes to each other (and large segments of people) in here. It’s gotten steadily worse. We cool with it? I kinda miss the “this community is so awesome” days.
@CunningLinguist, Now this community is cancerous
@sgtpepper47, that’s rich coming from you
Part of me wonders if a section of the anti-gun lobby would be less opposed to some of these rifles if they looked more like something a storybook grandpa would take a kid on his first hunt with (you know, carved wooden stock, that kind of stuff) and less like a slightly cheap copy of a military issue rifle? Even if they had exactly the same fire rates etc, just looked less threatening.
Please note - I’m not American, and not commenting on 2A/the constitution/the right to bear arms. Just pondering on human psychology.
@Nellybert , this has been tested using I believe an SKS rifle, in the wooden stock “classic” form it was approved and in the more modern tactical stock it was not. Literally same gun side by side same features aside from mounting rails and grip etc, kinda amusing.
@Ollie Queen, Kinda makes sense though - that one does look like it was designed to look intimidating and military-esque, whereas the other one sounds like it was designed to look like a practical tool. Makes no real difference to the practicality of the gun, but it creates a different impression on the observer (both in terms of the gun itself and any preconceptions the observer might have about the reasons people would buy it).
@Nellybert , there’s a lot of ignorance in America about this too. The lobbies won’t care because they know there’s no difference and they get paid to defend the position. Plenty of pro gun sidewalk interviews where people will set up saying ban this with displays and asking where they draw the line on a series of guns on display. They always make an ak or ar look innocent and beef up .22 rifles to look dangerous when they’re squirrel guns.
@BigJohnson86, How do you make an AK-47 look innocent????
Off topic, but why is the most recognisable firearm of the Soviet Union so popular in the most capitalist country in the world? 🤔
@Nellybert , wooden parts and remove the banana clip. Looks like every other “hunting rifle” then. Ak’s aren’t that popular over here outside of pop culture. I know a couple who have them but for everyone that does I know 20 that dont
@BigJohnson86, Ah, ok, gotcha. I suppose that an AK is a fairly simple design, so it could be made to look a lot less ‘military like’ than some other guns.
@Nellybert , yes it’s a good rifle but since it’s damn near impossible to get a license for a full auto weapon it’s essentially the same as every other 7.62 rifle. The only reason people buy it here is because “it’s an ak-47”
Fvcking gun pansies
@NoneYo Business, fûcking anti gun statists
@sgtpepper47, I find it very funny. Just because you’re ideologically opposed and unable to see anything that doesn’t fit your preconceived bias with anything resembling a sense of humor, doesn’t mean it’s not funny.
