I'm a supervisor at a warehouse and I can confirm they pull off the docks while we are still loading/unloading.
Sometimes I take the keys from the trucks
@buzz killinton, how often does that happen?
@buzz killinton, my brother used to be the shopping clerk at a warehoise. Yup they did do that sometimes -]
And he would take their keys as well
@Vesrox, It will surprise you the lack of thinking they do sometimes. They just assume it's all ready to go and jump in and take off. It use to happen every other week, but I've yelled at all of them so they caught on and started to check first. They can seriously hurt a person if they drive off at the right moment.
@buzz killinton, really I would have thought standard procedure would be to I don't know perhaps ask or maybe check
@eleven, well, see. That's the problem. You Thought common sense was common.
Also truck drivers aren't always the smartest and most diligent people around. Most are good, hard workers but there are a lot of them and people are stupid.
@buzz killinton, I don't understand... wouldn't the driver need to close the doors before leaving?
@Shadow Storm, they assumed we do it for them
@buzz killinton, one of my jobs we actually had green and red lights to inform them when they can go. Also had a lock that clamped onto the back of the trailer. Needless to say there were still incidents.
@buzz killinton, I used to unload trucks for wegmans, truck drivers are disgusting. More than one of them sits in their cab in only their whitey tighties. And they all want to talk while I'm listning to music and working.
@buzz killinton, I'm a lumper, I know this to be true.
@Nilla, oh they where somehow involved I'm sure of it
@Nilla, that would imply they actually made it to the dock successfully
We all know the story behind this sign
@An Everyday Penguin, I wonder how many times its happened before they put up the sign.
@An Everyday Penguin, beat me to my comment heh
No red and green lights on the dock? Maybe y'all should get the things that lock a trailer in if the company you worked for cared about employees safety. I was about to pull out a dock in once when they turned the light back green and someone went back into my trailer again. If it would've been 2 seconds later the forklift would be hanging off the dock.
