The 21st century version of slavery!...sorry too soon?
@CurlyGCradleRock, where I live 4 people making min wage can't rent a good apartment without taking out many loans. Moral of the story, Silicon Valley will soon have to get shuttles to bus in min wage workers from "ghettos."
@Jakobian, well that's depressing. Thanks for that.
@Jakobian, i work with a construction worker and where i live he says the state is basically forcing companies to build $100k houses only so the people that are only have the availability of them have to pay get loans and pay high apr amounts for them.
@Jakobian, yeah I go to school in San Jose for a studio apartment with no amenities I have seen up to around 2-3k
@Jakobian, What's considered a 'good' apartment? And what's the min wage out there? I'm in Vegas and trying to make a comparison..
@Jakobian, I'm not sure about the other major players but google already has shuttles from all major public transports to their campus and shuttles from some east bay cities that are over an hour away set up.
@Banana Waffle, a good apartment in the Silicon Valley is a one or two bedroom, with updated appliances, nice area, just looks nice overall. You can get an apartment here for cheap like 1300 a month but it'll be a shlthole. If you want something good you'll have to fork over 2300 at least and a house in this area is 950k to 1.2 million for a simple 3 bed 2 bath.
I know because I rent an apartment here with some roommates and it's expensive af
@Good Ol Days, 🙀🙀I think I shall stop complaining now.
@CurlyGCradleRock, Try work in a hotel then come back to me
@Good Ol Days, I guess I was lucky then. I recently bought my first place instead of renting. And now I pay less per month than I would if I rented it.
@Ripblade01, ever work in a retirement home? Umm yeah I did for a year....I was a piece of sh*t per those people. They hate first, then ask questions.
Work is work.. gotta make that paper
And they say Amazon is killing retail. Retail is doing it to themselves.
as a target employee, i can confirm this
Never worked retail in my life, feel lucky for that.
@megamanx181x, be careful who you tell this to
@megamanx181x, I think everyone should just so they learn how to not act to that poor clerk who can't accept their ten year old coupon
Not gonna lie. I'd really consider printing this out and posting it at work...
Puh leez...there are plenty of jobs worst than retail. 🙄
And yes, I've worked in retail... many moons ago.
Story time: One time at my job some lady had a "weight fall on her foot" (I don't believe it for a second of course) and complained to the people at cash and threatened to sue. They have her more than $500 worth of wares for free. I never wanted to punch somebody so badly in my life.
As a retail/foodservice employee, I can confirm this to be absolutely true
Honesty is the best policy except when working
So glad I do not work in retail.
@durti, well la di da. Lucky you
At least they're honest
With Amazon, soon retail will be eliminated! Yay?
