I feel like they pulled that number out of their ass. I've always heard estimates much closer to just a few petabytes.
@RMB, it's because they did. The human brain has somewhere in the pentabytes in storage
@RMB, well a lot of people do that tbh so why not in science too? Maybe we'll eventually learn how to people of the same gender can produce offspring with no outside help ;p
@N7 Trinity, two*
Maybe because if you stop practicing the brain will 'delete' it as not necessary.
@The Epic Story, or it is busy keeping you alive
@The Epic Story, why though? There's so much storage for it. Do we really fill up that much space that simple math can't be stored
@DustMonkey, that's why porn was invented.....to fill up the extra space
@DustMonkey, Of course you do. Your brain is literally an always on dash cam with HD video and audio and diagnostics and GPS. Even while you sleep it intakes data on your surroundings. Nowhere near enough storage to keep everything you know and experience unless it is important.
Basic math would fall under processing power, the equivalent of memory in a computer (not to be confused with storage which is mentioned above.)
First off, those aren't hard drives that are shown, their flash cards. Secondly, the average computer has more than 200 Gigs (at this point, it's like 1000). Lastly, the human mind doesn't even store in bytes, it's analog.
God damn it. That's not how it works. You can't apply something like computer file storage to a system as complicated as human memory.
Can I run Doom on myself?
Somebody once told me that uhhh uhh can't remember
That's normal bitch
That's far more than what they said in the movie Johnny Mnemonic
We store a dictionary, visual memories, the programs we run to process our senseS, to think critically, to emote, to think up witty comments on funny pics and to have the satisfaction of getting top comment.
Also years of video data
