In kinda related news, I started The Witcher 3 yesterday and I am already unconditionally in love.
@A pet named Steve, also, could it be that Geralt's preferred sign is Igni? Cause he's really smoking hot.
@A pet named Steve, he fvcks a lot of things, it's kinda the point of the game
@Donald Drumpf, I can't complain about the cutscenes tho
@A pet named Steve, Get the DLC if you haven’t, well worth it. Also, speaking of The Witcher, CD Projekt Red announced some time ago that they’re planning on The Witcher 4.
@NearlyNova, they are?? I thought it was meant to be a trilogy! Neat. Hope they're not just doing it for profit, but CD Projekt Red is usually pretty cool.
@A pet named Steve, my husband just started it a couple months ago (and playing it right now as we speak). He loves it and even i enjoy watching it.
Also, theres a fully functional card game version of gwent you can play on pc. Same idea as hearthstone but a lot simpler
@A pet named Steve, Well, Geralt’s story is finished as of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. CD has said they’ll be doing a different character, not sure who. I don’t think they’re doing it just for profit, they said they just love the series and they know the fans do as well. I respect CD and they seem to have found my one weakness, which is more of The Witcher.
@PunnyBaker, I've battled so many people in Gwent in this short amount of time, I love that game
@NearlyNova, ahh I see, ok. I like geralt though... Oh well I'll see what happens with him in the story ^^
@A pet named Steve, its 30% of the gameplay i swear lol
@A pet named Steve, Yeah, Geralt is the best.
@A pet named Steve, I started it earlier this month and finished it and all the DLCs in a few weeks. Woulda been faster if I had more time. It's hard to find a game that gets you REALLY immersed, but that game hooked me instantly. It's so good.
And as a straight male, yeah, Geralt has it going on. And Yen...oh man. She's perfect in just about every way, in my opinion.
@A pet named Steve, Must be the cause of the grey hair. Turning it to ash.
@A pet named Steve, yep I started it a few weeks ago and it’s already better than anything else I’ve ever played
@A pet named Steve, upgrade your Aard sign. That is my favorite. Im currently playing through the game again. My first play took me over 90 hours with heart of stone and blood and wine
@A pet named Steve, witcher 3 is a great game, but honestly, it's nothing compared to divinity 2 original sin
@A pet named Steve, grt rrady for one of the best stories youll ever play through and by god get heart of stones dlc because it will help you endgame trememdously because some of geralts decisions can come back and bite. I learned the hard way
@A pet named Steve, I got the Witcher 3 with games with gold a while ago and just never got around to playing it. What is it about the game that makes it so fun?
For some frame of reference, I love the Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Mass Effect, but I found Dragon Age to be unplayably boring.
Also with Witcher 3 do you need to have played 1 and/or 2?
@A pet named Steve, how do you upload a "gif with sound"?
@A pet named Steve, papa bless you.
@A pet named Steve, I’m like20 hours in! So great
@A pet named Steve, yeah its awesome. Only started it myself a week or so ago. It's so addictive. Just The type of game I need right now. I'm hoping for another fallout or elder scrolls in the future
@A pet named Steve, I keep meaning to play Witcher 3, but I also keep meaning to play Fallout 4. I think my main problem is that I want to be able to play OSRS and watch videos but can only be on my laptop.
@Mhael, sorry but that bullishìt mate. Loved DOS but it's nothing compared to witcher
@I Are Lebo, the characters are lovingly crafted and likable/hateable depending on who they are. The story is vast and well told. The world is so well built and populated, you can spend literal days of real life exploring and not find everything CDPR has created for us. Also CDPR is the best game company in recent history. The season pass provides what are basically whole new games at the price of a map pack or skins DLC in other games. Not to mention the shīt ton of free DLC released for the base game itself
@NearlyNova, id need a source for that. Last I heard they announced they were decisively ending the story of Witcher with BaW
@I Are Lebo, I love all the games that you mentioned, and dragon age is one of my favourites as well - especially origins, because Alistair is my favourite video character of all time, next to Handsome Jack. I was maybe 13 or so when I started the Witcher 2 and I as amazed by it. Sadly a bug prevented me from finishing it, and I didn't have enough money to buy Witcher 3 later on lol
But now I finally have it, and it's amazing. Epic music, amazing voice actors, immersive characters with an astonishing deep personality, an awesome story, a wide variety of creatures, maaaaany ways to improve your Character Geralt (mutagens, skills, potions, oils, poisons) and you have to fight every monster or enemy in a different kind of way to kill it easily (monsters need a silver sword, all other a steel one, different weaknesses and resistances etc etc. Alternatively just smack it with your sword and hope you don't die). I could go on, but yeah, I really love the game.
@Gamasennin, play both games. You might be a biiiiiit disappointed in Fallout 4, but it's great nonetheless. Spent so many hours playing that.
@ThePoison, Jesus Christ Yennefer has to be the prettiest female video game character in the gaming world
@Dark Lord Friendly, ya mean a video?
@A pet named Steve, gotta say Ciri is better looking imo
@TR8R, I have only seen her as a kid so far. But from what I can tell she is gorgeous. Iove the white hair and green eyes of hers, and her personality is amazing :D
@A pet named Steve, you haven’t met triss yet
@A pet named Steve, Word of advice, explore a bit around the first map, I think it was called White Orchid? There’s a Witcher wolf gear diagram there which’ll let you upgrade the first sword you get
@Geralt of Ravioli , I have, in Witcher 2! But I didn't like her all too much. She is very beautiful tho
@Geralt of Ravioli , yes, I'm running around white Orchid ATM. Thank you for the advice!
@A pet named Steve, I'm something like 25 hours in, and on Death March difficulty, and it's just too easy and too boring for me.
@A pet named Steve, My friend told me about it and honestly, once you get that focus on getting more Witcher gear. It’s 100% better than any of the other gears
@Geralt of Ravioli , fück that. You can get the serpentine swords from the first area. Very powerful, plus poison seems to be one of the better enchantments.
@Doctor Krieger, even easy games can be good games! Though I find it rather difficult, but I'm just at the beginning.
@A pet named Steve, try getting the free skin DLC’s for Witcher, all the character costumes get upgraded and a bunch of new Witcher gear comes in. And try getting the Heart and Stone and Blood and wine. The DLC’s ALONE won game of the years
@Doctor Krieger, oh I personally enjoyed the feline gear more, it made me very quick and much better to get the stamina up
@Geralt of Ravioli , I have all the free DLCs! But currently no money for the two big DLCs. Perhaps in a few weeks I'll get them. Is it ok to get them after you finish the main game?
@A pet named Steve, Oh def yea, just keep your saves, I just saved up enough for the main DLC’s but I’m just finishing up on borderlands 2, we might start same time lol
@A pet named Steve, get the general ability that makes your food last 20 minutes, spec 3 points into Axii for speech checks, one point into one of the armor class abilities, go balls deep into Quen, then put the rest into heavy or light attacks. Beyond that, you can choose to focus on adrenaline abilities and forgo upgrading Quen.
@Geralt of Ravioli , oooh I'm replayinf BL2 after finishing The pre sequel and TFTBL! I fvcking love the game and I fvcking love handsome Jack. I play as Zer0 but I was tempted to pick Krieg.
@Doctor Krieger, Alright, will remember that, thank you 👍
@Geralt of Ravioli , I have a full set of feline gear and I'm specing crit DPS, but you can't just start out with feline.
@A pet named Steve, the food ability and using quen a lot are the biggest 2 to worry about.
@A pet named Steve, Yesssss I play as Zer0 tooooo, I finished Pre-sequel and jumped at BL2, I’m saving up for TFTBL. Handsome jack is the best
@Doctor Krieger, I mastered the feline gear and it’s so amazing, the serpentine gear is a close second to me and btw, love the name *cough* ARCHERRRRR
@Geralt of Ravioli , the humour of the BL games is just amazing. Look forward to TFTBL, you'll be in for a ride. A good one.
@A pet named Steve, Lol it’s the first game I’m saving up for rn, and in pre-sequel the humour was so funny and BL2 is so much better
@A pet named Steve, it's quite an amazing game. You'll like the sex scene.
@Geralt of Ravioli , grandmaster Ursine is the way to go. Viper and Manticore are the best looking however
@Doctor Krieger, I'm inclined to doubt that haha. But on the off chance you're not bullshītting us try using handicaps to make it harder on yourself. My second play through I did the whole game in only the starting armor and that was a decent challenge. Or resolve to never use quen
@TR8R, the ursine armour has great stats but it’s too heavy for me, lose stamina way too easily
@TR8R, I'm not bullshìtting, you literally just have to put up Quen and dodge every few swings. 90% of the enemies are weak to this and the other 10% are basically the same thing but stunning with Axii or Igni instead of using Quen. With this I basically cheese monsters and quests that are a good 6-10 levels ahead of me.
@Doctor Krieger, so do what I suggested. A no quen playthrough is pretty challenging on DM, you don't get your free mistake
@Doctor Krieger, there are all kinds of things to do if the difficulty doesn't fulfill you for some reason
@Geralt of Ravioli , fair enough. Viper is my fav though I love that sexy look
@TR8R, Sorry this is a late response. I’ll get a link to some stuff that talks about it. Pretty much it’s said to be a good possibility, but CD is focusing on Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment. Witcher 4 May come after that, but there’s always the possibility they decide not to.
Fvcking bethesda trying to squeeze money in every way possible of a 6 year old game with hundreds of bugs caused by their own incompetence, blatantly ignoring the mod community and making profit from them.
@Boston, i mean they couldve fixed all the broken quests, and put in the quests that were meant to be put into the game like the whiterun romeo amd juliet esqe quest, and make it possible to get the general to pardon that one dude being held captive by the thalmor but i dont think they did.
@Boston, Well they’re releasing a Nintendo Switch version of the Special Edition. I didn’t think they could do it, but they’re squeezing money out of me one last time for Skyrim. Skyrim on the go is too good to pass up.
@Jeffyg3, while yes, the convenience of being capable to play skyrim on the go is really good, having to pay almost full price is an insult.
@Boston, It was a great game that gave me many hours of joy but I wish they would just put it to rest, it was fun while it lasted but if they keep trying to milk it then games are gonna resent the very idea of Skyrim and Bethesda, I wish they would just work on elder scrolls 6 or fallout 5
@Jeffyg3, you realize that's why they're doing that, right? I mean, I'm a little annoyed by it too, but it would be bad business for them NOT to keep rereleasing Skyrim. The demand for it is CLEARLY there. The demand is especially prevalent for Skyrim on a portable system.
I mean, I'm pretty sure they're using this time to actually put together their next new game. Remember, Fallout 3 took like 4 years to complete and Skyrim took longer.
@I Are Lebo, of course it's bad business for them not to milk the master games they made, but it's just so infuriating that they aren't capable of fixing their own games even after all this time and the release of thousands of independent mods focused to fix the bugs. With the release of skyrim SE they showed they are "interested" but leaves the fan base cast away as they always do.
@Boston, I dunno, man. I mean, really truly, games like Skyrim have a LOT of moving parts. I don't really think it's realistic to expect such a vast scope to be completely bug free.
Having said that, some bugs are tolerable and some aren't. Bugs that destroy immersion can't be helped. Not really. Many bugs are only discoverable after thousands of hours and others simply aren't fixable via a software patch.
I too would like more stable games coming out of Bethesda and I do think it's a copout to say that they cannot accomplish this goal. But personally, rather than fixing the bugs of Skyrim, I'd prefer their programmers to be working on Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5.
I really think these types of games have an enormous advantage for sequels in that the story doesn't have to connect at all between games if they don't want it to.
I just hope they focus a little more on interesting main story when they make the next Fallout game. 4's main plot kinda sucked.
@I Are Lebo, I understand that with these games it's really hard to fix everything, but given time then it's doable, not to mention other people already did the job for them. I experienced lots of bugs including game breaking ones when I bought the game years ago, corrupted save files, quests breaking, making them impossible to complete unless you used command codes or backtracking trying to figure out what on earth went wrong, unstable fps, random crashes, and so on. Even with all its imperfections I still love the game, and thats why being mad at bethesda. Fallout 4 is a ok game, they proceded to make it bad by adding micro transactions and terrible mods dlcs. The best fallout is new vegas, and it was made by obsidian, the guys who made fallout 1 and 2 before bethesda bought the series.
@I Are Lebo, I don't think there'd be am eldar scrolls six. If anything it'd be of the same world just no more eldar scrolls. The 5th I'm sure was supposed to be the last. And for the online, that was a mistake that should never have happened. What they could do is prequels that include all the Mer. There'd be more playable characters, functioning dwarven cities, even the aliads could be done. Idk though, just some thoughts on potential Bethesda games.
@Boston, I have literally no idea what you're talking about. Fallout New Vegas at launch was the single most unstable game I have ever played. I ran into multiple PROFILE breaking bugs. Bugs where the main area of the game wouldn't load right and the bug was retroactive for the character, so loading an earlier save didn't help.
Also, what micro transactions were in Fallout 4? I don't know what you're talking about there, either. Fallout Shelter has MT, Fallout 4 just has dlc.
@Dr Kriegerstein, why would there not be an Elder Scrolls 6? It's a successful franchise that brings in a lot of money. They aren't going to stop making Elder Scrolls games until they stop making them money.
I have a couple friends who struggle to understand this, but movies and games are not made based on the priority of what stories they can tell. The first and main priority is profit. The video game industry is first and foremost an industry. Gaming companies exists to make profit, not to please customers. That's icing on the cake.
Oh no, the legends are true...THOMAS!
I've put in several thousand hours in Skyrim, like many of us. I've had more than one version of the game (also like many of us), and I even managed to get the special edition with the cool Alduin statue.
When I saw they were releasing Skyrim on the Switch, my reaction was "oh boy, now I can do everything I've already done several times over, but now I can re do it on the move. Yay."
But if they could genuinely build a survival game out of Skyrim, where you have to battle the elements, adding a hot/cold system like BotW, AND added the need to eat drink and sleep, AND added armor and weapon degradation so that you can't just immediately get high level gear and then be done, then I WOULD go back to Skyrim. It could actually be a real role playing experience.
I was so underwhelmed with the mods on Skyrim's Xbox One version I basically just stopped playing altogether.
@I Are Lebo, try playing it on PC, its far better than the consoles versions. Also tons of mods, including fixes for game breaking bugs bethesda never bothered to fix
@Boston, I've heard this brought up a few times now and I'm somewhat confused. What game breaking bugs does Skyrim have? The only time I can recall hitting a game breaking bug was at the end of the Dragonborn DLC and I only hit that bug once.
@Boston, also I haven't seen many mods that actually change the gameplay in any meaningful way. Mostly skins and pop culture references, along with optimization.
Fallout 4 on Xbox One has a ton of cool mods though. That I've experienced.
@I Are Lebo, Look on Nexus for PC mods. There are thousands that alter the game dramatically. One it sounds like you would be interested in is "frostfall", it changes the game so cold and wet are actual threats and adds camping and survival to the game. Then there's "realistic needs and diseases" that adds a hunger and thirst system along with some other stuff. Then we hit texture mods because who doesn't need 4k texture cheese wheels? Top that off with some quest mods like "bruma" and "moon path to elsware" throw in a companion mod or two, maybe "locational damage" for better combat. And bam you have the best play through of Skyrim you'll ever have. Plus with the mcm from "skyui" most every mod has options you can mess around with. So yeah, I kinda like the PC version lol.
Edit: also after you buy the game all of this is free unlike the Bethesda released survival mode will be.
@ShinyMegaMetagross, wait, they're going to charge extra for their survival mod? Unless it has like TONS of content and some form of guaranteed stability, that's bullshït.
I do not own a computer powerful enough to play Skyrim, and that's not going to change, but some of those things you listed sound interesting. My big issue with Bethesda mods, based on my experience with Fallout 4, is that all of the best mods make the game more unstable.
@I Are Lebo, yeah the plan as of yesterday when I last looked into it is that survival is going to be a creation club payed mod. Also most of the major mods on PC get updated consistently for stability. Modders put a lot more care into free mods than Bethesda will ever admit while it's trying to sell more horse armor. If you want to know more look up a channel called gopher on YouTube he makes good videos on moding and moding news.
Just give the rights to both series to obsidian ffs, they'll actually make good content
It's the same survival setup from New Vegas.
As much as I absolutely love Skyrim, I agree. It had its run, move onto elder scrolls 6 already!
What does tough-sounding sound like?
So long as it's free, I'm cool with it
@TheKen42, it is not
@Gay Ninja, then that's just lame
