Scientifically a migraine is vastly different from a headache. I’ve never had one, but I sympathize with people who do.
@FP Waiter, I basically have ophtalmic migraine sometimes (hope that translated right).
So basically visual stuff AND all the typical migraine stuff afterwards. That was fvcking scary the first time I had it. Sat in the middle of class and I suddenly couldn't see my ringfinger anymore. (Sorry for that comment though)
@FP Waiter, I've gotten migraines for pretty much my whole life and they feel like I've been whacked with a rock in the back of my head and there's rats nibbling the nerves behind my eyes and they make me nauseous and last for multiple days and inevitably there's always someone who's like "just drink some water"
@FP Waiter, I have chronic migraines and people tell me to man up, I fvcking hate it because I get them all the time and I still have to go to work.
@efil ym kcvF, i have cluster migraines that get worse through fall and go away during spring. They cause me so much agony that all i can do is roll in a ball and cry and scream and bang my head
@HolyCatchphrase, hydration might be a problem. I've accidently gone coffee free since Sunday, literally just forgot to make a pot for that morning, and being off coffee strength caffeine has actually lessened the daily migraine into a headache most of this week. I've improved even more when drinking more water than I was.
Of course this might only work for me. But strength of caffeine intake might effect when it wears off and how bad(withdrawal) it wears off. Keeping water intake good seems to have helped at least.
@Autismo, my wife has the same thing. She is currently getting an experimental Botox treatment that is working but it’s pricey as all hell since it costs $2k without insurance. The other option she was told would be to have the nerves causing the migraines cut so they die. You might want to look into those options to see if one or the other would help you with yours.
@D4rthbob, well I do drink a lot of water and don't drink caffeine except usually a cup of tea in the morning
@I Am Captain Obvious, Dang, I only have sudden pains when something's wrong with my back again.
But I guess I got used to that and can't really compare it
@efil ym kcvF, That’s exactly what happened to me. I was in class writing and all of a sudden I couldn’t see half the paper and then I looked up and I couldn’t see half of the room, then I felt like I just got punted in the head 20 times.
@HolyCatchphrase, I get them too. I usually throw up a lot too.
@HolyCatchphrase, I have similar symptoms and 2 or 3 Excedrin always really helps. Not perfect but I can get through the day.
@Autismo, feverfew supplement and migrains
@I Am Captain Obvious, I read that taking psychedelic mushrooms can reduce cluster headaches. Not sure if that's your cup of tea but from what I hear they are so painful people are willing to try anything.
@Grizzly Wintergreen, I read that too. And i tried it, I was very willing to do anything to stop the pain. It actually fvcking works and my head aches were cured for nearly two years. I guess it's time for another treatment
@I Am Captain Obvious, very interesting. Glad it helps you.
@Grizzly Wintergreen, thank you random citizen. Only 3 weeks of light use was all i needed
@FP Waiter, I've only ever had one migraine and it was while I was in school. I suddenly couldn't read or write, so I was freaked the fvck out.
Hello, combat medic here. If you dont have access to fancy stuff like toredol and zofran or other pain and nausea meds take 800mg ibuprofen stacked with 1000mg tylenol qtd as needed. It wont knock the migraine out, but it will take you down a couple points on the pain scale to a manageable level. But my favorite for my migraines (cuz free drugs lol) is 30mg toredol IM and 8mg zofran sublingual.
I spent years not knowing what a migraine actually was. Growing up around pretentious d!ckweeds who would scream migraine at the slightest inconvenience and yet show no signs of physical discomfort. Then I went to a doctor to see if these super intense headaches were anything to worry about. Now I know I suffer from migraines. They are fvcking awful. Strangely the only thing that seems to ease the pressure for a few seconds (when I don’t have my medication handy) is hitting myself in the spot where it hurts the most. Although I do look a little bit “special” when I’m hitting myself in the side of the head. Anyway, yeah, migraines are evil.
@Massage Therapist, I had ocular migraines. I lose the vision but don't get the pain
Yes, they suck. Light, sound, movement all make it worse, and the nausea makes even more unbearable.
