I don’t watch GoT, but from the episodes I have watched, it seems they have sexual misconduct on air
@Drunken Engineer, there's a contradiction here
@MrWonka, yeah, they aren't having sex while flying
@MrWonka, half my life is contradictory. “One more drink and I’ll close my tab” * Orders more whiskey* but I’ve seen like two episodes. I think I just so happened to watch the ones with a lot of sexual acts goin on
When I heard of Louis C.K. get accused, I felt awful. He’s one of my favorite comedians and even one of my favorite people. It was a terrible feeling seeing one of your hero’s being a horrible person.
And then when I heard about George Takei, things really got me thinking. Is this what fame does to people? Corrupts then in these ways? Who else has sexually abused people?
I questioned my heroes and felt really sad. I love their work, but a huge reason why I loved Louis and George was because I thought they were decent people in real life. It’s sad knowing about what they have done.
@qXFilesTheme, I'm not even sure anymore. I got a bad feeling we will if not already are getting some fake of fringe accusations. I don't mean to demean or insult any actaul victims, but in today's world accusations are held as facts. And that makes accusations weapons and tools for the desperate for attention. Furthermore the accusation against Takei is that he brushed against a male actor. While perhaps this could be abusive it could also be accidental.
I just think these accusations need do process before they are reported. But the media wants views, and doesn't care about others much anymore. It's all a bit sick.
@qXFilesTheme, It's innocent until proven guilty. An accusation doesn't mean guilt.
@qXFilesTheme, the thing is that the world is full of people of all kinds and I’ve read and watched a lot of good people and bad people. And I can tell you;
Quiet People = Good and Bad
Normal People = Good and Bad
Social People = Good and Bad
Famous People = Good and Bad
For celebrities and heroes we see a lot of people who are loud who can both be good and bad and maybe some celebrities who are just humble and quiet. They’re everyone, not just our heroes.
@Benedick Cumberblast, oh come on now, Salem dunked themselves a whole mess of witches on no proof whatsoever. The Inquisition tortures and killed arbitrarily on no proof whatsoever. I’ve seen what passed for society these days...if you thing anyone is any better now than before you are sadly mistake. People are, and have always been, stupid and panicky animals, blind followers who will go along with whatever is popular. When the killing starts, and it will, just you wait to see how many feel it is “justified”.
@KingofFunnypics, I agree with all of that but the flipside is also true, we can’t treat associations of something as serious as rape or sexual assault as “false until proven true” either. Not only does that put an undue spotlight on the victims, but it stigmatizes the true victims of heinous crimes like this for the sake of “fairness”
And rape is the only crime we do this speculating on. Can you imagine if murder cases were treated with the same flippancy of “you can’t accuse me of murder, it’ll ruin my career”. That sounds stupid right? But why is rape not an equalivalant exchange for ones career while murder is? Both are arguably just as heinous and I don’t want a rapist making my coffee at Starbucks let alone making bank or running a country
Charges such as the recent ones we’ve seen in hollywood need to exists in this middle ground of both true and false until one is proven, to avoid any stigmatization for either party.
@Malice211, yeah but that was like, literally centuries ago
@Malice211, wait nvm
@qXFilesTheme, I just want to know who asked Rebel Wilson to stick her finger up his bum while his mates filmed it. That’s a really specific fetish.
@liberachi , you do get that you can’t kinda murder someone right?
Sexual assault allegations range from violent forced sex, to “he put his hand on my knee, and I didn’t like that”.
@liberachi , "Rape is the only crime we do it with" because is so hard to prove. With a murder, you have a body, with a break in, you have a broken window/lock, with a robbery, you have missing items. We might not know who did these things, but we know they happened. But rape, a lot of the time, has no hard evidence that it ever even occurred to begin with. It's just one persons word against another. So it needs to be treated with more skepticism.
The issues with rape accusations don't come about because people are against the victims, or people want to excuse a rapist, it's because it's such an incredibly difficult crime to prove and prosecute.
@KingofFunnypics, Louis CK admitted it, most of the accusations aren't coming from random people, they are coming from those with some standing in showbiz
@liberachi , Innocent until proven guilty means the victim only exist after shown proof. Could be the person being accused is the victim of false accusations.
Seeing as how there are people who say death threats, claim to have Information to crimes to collect the reward, claim to have commited the crime during high profile child abductions.
It stands to reason people will claim to be victims of sexual assault 40 years ago. Making it impossible to prove or disprove. So they get their 15 minutes of fame at the cost of tearing someone they don’t like down.
Seeing as how George to Takei was speaking out against sexual assault just a few days before. I believe he would’ve known doing such a thing would’ve drawn attention to him. Which leads me to believe the person making the claim isnt exactly telling the truth. That they remember information incorrectly. By the way that’s also possible. People convince themselves of lies all the time which is why we have a lot of false witnesses.
@liberachi , in the case of George Takei. 40 years is a long time for the person claiming sexual assault to misremember events.
I’m just treating them all as innocent now if it happened more than 20 years ago. Unless there is proof. Just because there seem to be a lot of allegations of sexual assault lately. Most of the claims lately seem to be of “it happened 20+ years ago”. So much time as passed its damn near impossible to prove. On top of which most people change in 20 years and are no longer that person.
Allegations means possibly true but possibly not true it’s unproven. So it needs to be treated as such. With skepticism.
@big freedom, George Takei spoke out against Kevin Spacey. And was accused of sexual assault shortly after his speaking out. Let’s go on the conspiracy train and consider maybe it was one of Kevin Spacey’s persons trying to draw attention away by falsely accusing George Takei.
@qXFilesTheme, What I find funny is that there are people who are surprised by this.
it’s like they’ve never heard of the joke everyones screwing everyone in hollywood. Its how you get ahead.
All this does is prove what we’ve joked about for decades.
So I don’t care who gets accused of what anymore in hollywood since there are so many accusation now. Seems like its more of a trend than being actual victims.
Also someone liking something and then deciding 40 years later they don’t. Doesn’t make them a victim.
That’s like someone who loved playing Mario as a kid. Then 40 years later deciding they hate Mario and they hated playing Mario as a kid.
No you didn’t. No matter how you feel now. You liked it or hated it back then. You can’t just decides decades later to change how you felt about something back then. You can claim you hate it now. But that doesn’t change the truth of the past.
@qXFilesTheme, Don't be so naive, all these accusations coming out are people seeing the praise other "victims" are getting and wanting to get their own 15 minutes of fame. Unless these accusations can be proven in a court of law then accusations is all they will ever be. Idk why people keep acting like innocent until PROVEN guilty isn't a thing in our society anymore. People automatically assume that someone would never lie about being sexually assaulted but it happens more often than you would think. My guess is that a lot of these people want money, fame, attention, or to ruin someone elses life and reputation.
@liberachi , False until proven true is literally how are justice system works. The accuser has to provide proof of whatever they are claiming. To have it be true and false at the same time makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. And really? You don't think accusing someone of murder would ruin their career? Both sexual assault and murder are major things to be accused of and could be detrimental to the life of someone being falsely accused. Some people will automatically jump to the conclusion that they must have done it even if the accusation is completely erroneous. That is why "false until proven true" or innocent unil proven guilty is such an important part of our judicial system. "It is better to let a 100 guilty men walk free, than to imprison 1 innocent man."
Fingers crossed Marvel stays clear
