One of those stupid news headlines: “Can millennials kill EA?”
@BearDaniels, I give it a week before we see it
@BearDaniels, if there is anything that i hope you fuvks can do it's to kill EA.
@BearDaniels, help me millennials. You’re my only hope.
@BearDaniels, kill Ubisoft too while youre at it with their half finished games....
What a 62 cent drop...um that’s itrelevant
@Ultramatt, not when you are talking about a company that has millions upon millions of shares and that has been going only up since the founding of the company.
@Galven, it’s barely half a percent drop. It’s nothing.
@ios11, are you fücking joking? .6% in one day is fücking huge!
@Ultramatt, subtle things like this make people panic with their shares so more might start selling and that means EA stock prices drop more as well.
@Doctor Krieger, for someone to lose $100 from that drop, they would have to own 150 shares. Which means their shares would still be worth over $15000. It would take 4-5 days of losing .55% for it to even drop below $15k. So. Like I said. Insignificant.
@Ultramatt, what everyone needs to remember is the share price is the price at which one person buys a share from another in a second-hand market. Like how apples profits arent affected by the price at which one person sells their old iphone to another, in the same way share price doesn’t directly affect EA or it’s profits. Sure it does affect them in other ways, but not their profits.
Also .6% is nothing, even for one day. When you work with shares you regularly see shares change by literally 4 or 5 times that in a single day, sometimes as much as 10 times.
Guys the market has been on a downturn this week. DOW and NASDAQ have been down this week so many of the companies are posting losses this week. They’ve only dropped 1%. If EA drops like 4-5% then you can start feeling proud.
I’ve been playing EABF2 and, In all honesty, its not nearly as bad as the internet is saying.
The micro-transactions are almost pointless unless you are already high level since cards/weapons cannot be used unless you are a specific level. Not to even mention the fact that the highest tiers of cards and stuff can not be earned in lootboxes or with real life currency, they can only be earned with achievements.
Are micro-transactions crappy? Sure. But they are releasing all (or so they say) DLC for free and put a lot of effort into this in terms of game graphics, gameplay, voice over, etc etc. Now factor in the rising costs of the best graphics designers, technology for this insanely good looking graphics, story Writers, voice actors, etc. Between giving free DLC and constantly rising costs to make video games, they have to have SOME way to earn back their investment and make a profit. Sure, I hate microtransactions, but they are not a great evil like people say.
@Doge with an iPhone, except they locked Vader and Luke behind an intense grind or pay additional money. I didn't pay $60 to play a star wars game to not be able to play the most iconic characters.
@Oujosh29, and it would take 4,000+ hours or $2,100 to unlock everything.
@Doge with an iPhone, just as a rule there shouldn’t be micro transactions in full price games. That shjt is fair mainly in free to play games.
@Oujosh29, i played it yesterday for about 4 hours yesterday and unlocked vader.
@What the lump, they also drastically reduced the cost after the big uproar.
@Doge with an iPhone, yes they are a great evil. Making pay to win gates in a AAA game is a fùcking evil and greedy thing to do
@TR8R, then don't buy their games. They're not forcing you to. You can't expect them to change anything if you just keep buying their games anyway. You're not without agency here.
@Doctor Krieger, never said I bought their games mate. I don't have to buy the game to hate what it's doing.
@Oujosh29, that's not even true anymore, I've played probably 12 hours and I've unlocked Vader and Luke, sure the micro-transactions were annoying but they're gone now, the highest price heroes are 15,000 credits and you can earn more than 180 credits a match (idk where that number came from but I've heard it tossed around that it was the max) EA is actually trying on this one and I think that the only reason they were included in the first place was so they can offer fully voice acted and large scale FREE DLC which is huge.
@Berntley, micro-transactions are gone, play time wall isn't that big and most people are going to focus on one class and play that only. Sure they're going to add crystals back later but I'm sure it's just going to be for cosmetics since they found 501st skins and stuff in the code
@What the lump, exactly, I get that 60,000 was ridiculous but 15 is reasonable for two of the arguably the toughest heroes which couldn't be purchased with real money in the first place
@BearDaniels, then how do you propose they fund the servers, improvements, dlc, and other maintenance? It's either season passes and paid dlc or micro-transactions. Now yes the micro-transactions shouldn't be in the form of star cards (even though you don't know what you get in a pack and you couldn't buy locked weapons or heroes) they should be in the form of items or cosmetics or tags and stuff like that but you can include them. Assassin's Creed has been doing that for years with costumes and start packs and time savers and no one bats an eye at that so I think that's the route they'll take when they bring crystals back.
@Doge with an iPhone, completely agree with you mate, I hate to see so many people hating on this game that is so much fun to play and fulfills the dreams of a lifetime Star Wars fan, people just can't get the old Battlefront 2 out of their minds (and I love that game too) but I guarantee you that if they had just done a remaster of that the internet would be up in arms that it was just a lazy cash grab and they should be doing something new
HERE IS THE RECENT UPDATE: I bought this game, and I love it. It plays great, from challenge mode to campaign and multiplayer. The microtransactions DO NOT EXIST at the moment. Yes, they are disabled until further notice. So anyone on that hype train is just misinformed. As well the reduced prices on the champions means that 5 hours of multiplayer that i played yesterday got me Luke Skywalkwe and the Emperor. If I was able to unlock everything in the first day I would be pissed. Every other multiplayer game has unlocking aspects (guns, perks, classes) uncluding COD and Battlefield. In fact most games require in game play for unlocks. I really wish only people playing this game made negative comments because it is a great game and concept. The potential Microtransactions would suck. They put out an apology letter saying that they blew it and will fix crates, and until that point they are unavailable.
@CleverBastard, you do realize they only cancelled the microtransactions temporarily and that they WILL be bringing them back and in greater numbers. This was just a shady trick to accomplish exactly what you are proving to me. Kill the hype, get people to buy the game, get invested and then slap on a bunch of crap microtransactions. I really was excited for this game but it is preying on those with gambling or potential gambling issues. I would gladly pay $80 for a full and complete game. Not this pay-wall locked trash.
@CleverBastard, I should've mentioned that I don't think it's bad that you bought, played, and loved the game. I wish I could enjoy the game but I just can't personally support this type of anti-consumer behavior.
@CleverBastard, yeah this will sadly be a wait until sale game to see if the loot boxes come back in any manner besides cosmetic only
I’m kind of glad that EA is having a sucky time with this. I hate seeing money-hungry game developers put micro-transactions in their games. They’re less interested in making truly great games and are more interesting in making money. I get that their goal is to make a profit, but this is such a lazy and bold-faced way to do it.
Honestly, from what I've been reading, people are just mad because "micro transactions bad! Rrrgh!" But in reality, there's nothing you can buy that you can't get through playing, and no one (that I've seen so far) has really explained how the crates break the game or help you obtain Vader or Luke...
That's literally 1 dollar drop and it's already recovered. Not even memeworthy
Imho, I’d rather have completely optional micro-transactions than to watch them jack up the price of the base game from $60 to, say, $80.
@Doge with an iPhone, or you know, get the entire game for the $60.
@Doge with an iPhone, literally no reason you can't have optional micro transactions and a full $60 game.
