This is because our infrastructure is designed to withstand hurricanes. We don't have the infrastructure to deal with snow. It's like how Californians don't really worry about earthquakes because buildings have to be designed to withstand them.
@mcgargleballs, I think it's mostly due to stubborn old people. My grandparents live in a mobile home and when hurricanes come through they just board up the windows
@mcgargleballs, I keep hearing this, but it never makes much sense. What about snow is it that the south can't handle? I know a lot of fellow Canadians that never swap to winter tires. I don't see how roads could be any less winterized, they're generally constructed the same. So that leaves a lack of snow plows?
@addibruh, it's actually exactly that. We don't have any plows or stockpiled salt to de-ice the roads. And on top of that people don't know how to drive on ice. It only happens once every few decades so no one bothers with learning how to drive on ice.
@mcgargleballs, true, I mean californians don't even care when the ground violently shakes and only causes a few billion in damage.
Not true. I'm a Floridian and I hate the heat. I'm at Pittsburgh, and I'm usually the last person wearing long sleeves.
@Tentastic, funny cuz I'm from Pittsburgh and I hate the cold. I'm always the last one TO wear long sleeves
@Commander Peanuts, I confirm, almost everyone complains about how cold it is before I do. Idk why they think 60 or 40 degrees is cold, cause when cold fronts come through to Florida it does get that cold, and we still wear our shorts and flip flops.
@Tentastic, oh no I wouldn't call 60 or 40 cold. With the winds that Pittsburgh can get and being on the edge of the snow belt, it can get much worse. I was about an hour out of the city and it was -20 with wind chill. So I agree I don't get those people. I mainly just don't get hot. People will be sweating and complaining about the heat to me in my hoodie. But I'm sure you've also seen guys walking around in freezing temperatures in shorts considering you probably are one. We get a lot of those too
@Tentastic, yinzer represent
@Tentastic, it's true for some of us. I prefer to be hot and humid instead of being cold.
And then there are Ohioans who are perpetually the top picture for everything because of how random our weather is
@TriangleTesticles, and some of us were relocated to Florida. I hate the heat and humidity.
@Rhyzel , Here in Columbus it got up to 55 degrees today, but in two days we’re supposed to get like 8 inches of snow. It’s S’winter af
@TriangleTesticles, you mind if I move in?
@Rhyzel , I’ll give you my house if I get yours down there
Lived in Florida my whole life (24) can confirm. Hell, as a kid I played out in cat 4 storms
