Do you know how much easier shooting a baby in the face is compared to raising a good person?
@Downvote Trash, more importantly, the probability of success. You can give a child all the care in the world over decades and have them still turn out to be a piece of shït, but if you empty a handgun into the forehead of an infant, you can be pretty damned certain that the job is done.
@Downvote Trash, but what if it was you emptying the hand gun (when in fact you killed his body double) that made him evil?
@add eggs then stir, *young kylo stares back at luke*
@Downvote Trash, I've been trying to tell my wife this, but she won't listen...
@I Are Lebo, Why don't we ever think about how many evil jews may have came out if Hitler didn't exist? There could have been a reverse holocaust.
@I Are Lebo, did you ever see that twilight zone episode where the lady goes back in time to kill Hitler? Shes successful but Hitlers mom panics and pays a homeless mother on the street for a baby and this becomes the Hitler we know. Raises some interesting hypothetical questions. Did Hitlers views and in essence his rise to power come as a result of that or were his parents to blame because it would have been the same result.
@I Are Lebo, according to certain theories of time, a new baby would go on to take his place.
@Downvote Trash, I've seen way too many time travel movies to try to mess with a major point in history like that
@I Are Lebo, but at what cost?
@cardmosquito, your premise is faulty
@I Are Lebo, what if just another baby becomes hitler? Like with gangs and drug cartels. You kill the top head and someone else replaces that person. Would killing hitler have prevented the genocide? Just a thought
@Implicit88, there’s a massive difference between gang leaders and country leaders. The process of uniting a war torn country into a force capable of committing large scale genocide and large scale war simultaneously is no small feat. If Hitler wasn’t as intelligent as he was, or as charismatic as he was, if he was not born in the time that he was or the place that he was, none of it would have happened. He wasn’t just in the right place at the right time. He was in the right place at the right time and MADE it happen. He campaigned, using emotional manipulation to whip the populace into a frenzy and win them. He manipulated the laws of the country to get elected as chancellor. He cultivated relationships with some powerful and immoral men.
Reality doesn’t work with people being in slots. If you had killed Abraham Lincoln as a child, a different person would not have just become the new Great Emancipator.
Just because history happened the way it did does not mean that it had to.
@Implicit88, does killing Hitler as an infant guarantee no WW2, or no Holocaust? No. These types of questions have so many unknown variables that it’s impossible to know for sure. But the only way that killing Hitler as an infant wouldn’t change anything is if there was another would be dictator with similar goals that was prevented from seeking power by Hitler or his allies.
@add eggs then stir, why would a random baby have a body double? He wasn’t born important or influential.
@I Are Lebo, hitler always had a talent for avoiding assassinations at the last minute
@add eggs then stir, a talent that he cultivated, not one that he was born with.
@I Are Lebo, is it to hard to believe, that Adolf Hitler, with his own Nazi Time machine (trademarked), went back in time and taught his infant self the ways of 'not getting shot in the face like a bitch'?
@add eggs then stir, if Hitler had access to a time machine, he’d have won the war and this entire discussion would be moot.
@I Are Lebo, ok fine
Your right, and I am wrong.
Hitler did not have a time machine
And baby hitler didn't have a body double.
@add eggs then stir, baby Stalin had a body double, though.
@add eggs then stir, also *you’re
A valid point
Evil isn’t born dearie, it’s made. -Rumplestiltskin
I would go back right before he starts killing Jews and tell him to purge the Muslims too and tell him not to invade Russia
Nah, too much work.
That’s some next lvl twilight sparkle sh!t right there.
I would kill baby Abraham
But..... if Adolf Hitler hadn't started world war 2, we would have beaten him. Russia and America wouldn't have split Germany, leading to the cold war, which produced the space race and the technological advances that we enjoy today, such as cellphones and even microwave ovens. the V2 rocket system that Germany created has given us a much better understanding of rocketry and aerodynamics. also, as cruel as they were, the studies conducted on Jews and undesirables has given us a much greater understanding of the human body and the effects of cold, heat and how much abuse the body can take. But that also helps us cure the body too.
Adolf Hitler was bad, but killing him would set the world back decades in scientific advancement. Strife creates advancement.
@TheDoctorsTARDIS, killing him would have likely prevented the Bolsheviks from taking power and prevented much of the communist oppression and genocides of the 20th century. Communism was a much greater impedement to technological progress around the world than anything else has ever been in history.
That being said, the Treaty of Versailles was the real catalyst here. Hitler would have never risen to power if Germany hadn't been veritably fücked by that treaty.
@TheDoctorsTARDIS, except the harsh punishments enforced on germany from the rest of europe is what pushed Hitler and the national socialist party to move closer to war
@TheDoctorsTARDIS, wow that's a real ethical dilemma, actually. it's hard to consider all the consequences, and determine which of them were inevitable.
for example, the us involvement with wwii established a "world police" mentality that has been parodied to death, and has no doubt led to countless problems in developing countries... but then again, Japan owes most of their industrial restructuring to American post-war efforts.
would America have given 2 shirts about Japan's conquest of China, had they not bombed hawaii for Hitler?
