When i was in the army i had a friend who did this for 6 months. He renewed his contract to get reassigned to a different base, was told to go wait for his travel orders which would take a couple days. He waited in his barracks (we were assigned to a deserted part of base, away from the unit) but he never got his travel orders. He didnt tell anyone, he stayed in his room playing world of warcraft and eating pizza. He only got caught when a unit was coming back from iraq and there was this random guy living in the barracks
@Oujosh29, I mean, technically he did what he was told. He waited until he received orders. Probably not the smartest thing to do though
@Salem, not surprisingly the judge didnt see it that way. I told him to say something after 2 weeks, it would probably work then. But waiting 6 months was a tad beyond believability
@Oujosh29, so what happened to him?
@18bluecat, he got caught right before we deployed to Iraq again. He had to go in front of a judge, and actually had the balls to tell the judge "they told me to wait, so I did". He got busted to the lowest rank, had to pay back a lot of money, and went back to his old unit just in time to be deployed with them to Iraq. he was a big hit, everyone loved what he did.
@Oujosh29, your friend is my hero
@Oujosh29, no man left behind.
@Oujosh29, but most importantly; horde or alliance?
@Oujosh29, what constitutes “a lot of money” in this situation??
@TR8R, 10k or so, about half of his pay. Not including all the free food he ate at the cafeteria, and for a skinny dude he ate a lot
@Kangaroo Jacked, alliance. he actually got me playing and that lasted almost a decade (i was also alliance)
@Oujosh29, I was in the military as well so I can say this... your friend stole a good amount of money from taxpayers...
"I don't like my job... And I dont think Im gonna go anymore."
"So you're going to quit?"
"No... Not really, Im just going to stop going."
@Mr Literal, sounds to me like you bought a “jump to conclusions” mat.
@Mr Literal, yeah, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday.
@Mr Literal, thats probably what was going through his head. Lets see how long it takes for them to notice. And they just never did.
@Mr Literal, that was a great movie.
@Mr Literal, fvckn A
When you are just another brick in the wall
If my cubicle wasn't located in front of all the manager's offices, and if fewer people knew me, I would totally try this
@Salem, a friend was hired and he didn't need to clock in or anything for work. He was new but he didn't have any specific tasks or report to a specific manager. He said he would go to work and help others but no one delegated tasks for him. He reported to random managers. He said he would go home early and no one knew what his job was. I told him just don't go to work and he will still get paid. He didn't go to work for a week. He went back to work and he still didn't know what his job role was.
@hasher22 , was his role token minority?
@hasher22 , what company?
@hasher22 , That's my dream job. Where does he work? What is his title?
Missing, presumed fed
Did this man by chance own a red stapler?
@grayhome, I.... I could just..... burn the building down.....
I actually did this with my last job back in November. Missed two weeks of work and forgot to tell anyone I would be out, then because of insane anxiety, fear of confrontation, and strong hatred for the job and most of the people working there I just didn't go back. A co-worker texted me asking if I still worked there, haven't answered mostly because I don't know what to say, I mean I still haven't been told I was fired but it's not like I could go back. I have a new job now that I actually like and pays more than minimum wage.
If a company doesn't realize this happening, they deserve a good bit of the blame. Really poor business management.
For all we know the boss could have been giving himself all the money.
@Tentastic, eh depends on how the salary was deposited
Freaking Frank gallagher.
