Why would I try to change your mind?
@Possible Paradox, because ting goes skraaa pap pap pap pap pap
@Prince super Vegeta , you got me there. Can't argue with that logic
I’m always going to refer to it as “face tattoo auto tune brrrap skrr” from now on
Ah modern American music is absolute garbage
“OH BABY YYOOooooOOOOUU... YOU GOT WHAT I NEEEeeEEEeeED... BUT YOU SAY HE’S JUST A FRIEND”
While you are correct I personally think that modern rap is better.
@RollingInD1ck, I came in here to write this exact comment thinking I was in recent. I was wrong
Well then there's xxxtentacion
@Captain Toothpaste , not to my personal taste but he’s a talented fella
90s rap sucked as well, so did 80s rap, so does all rap all the time...
@Malice211, eh, I think it implies the whole thing about old rap actually having meaningful lyrics and actual music, compared to today’s rap that people like lil uzi and lil pump just say a few things and have some weird beat then all of a sudden BAM you guys are famous, here’s all my money.
@Stealthytwinkie, Implying that (c)rap was ever good or ever had meaningful lyrics is nothing but a slippery slope. rap sucks, has always sucked, will always continue to suck... The fact that rap has not fizzled out like a bad fart is a true testament to the lack of education in schools nowadays.
@Malice211, my dude, there's a lot of rap out there that hasn't been popular ever. Take a look at Aesop Rock, Illogic, Sage Francis, KRS-One, GZA. In addition, try to comprehend the skill and technical ability behind Eminem and Tech N9ne's lyricism. Eminem has made some extremely deep things in the past, like, "Sing For The Moment". Kendrick Lamar's albums have had focused and intricate themes and even stories with extremely educational and enlightening messages.
Don't judge rap by what's popular; that's just the tip of the iceberg
@giggybiggy, Eminem sucks...same damn song over and over (but then again, so is all rap)..has to change the pronunciation of words just to get them to rhyme... i’ll take Clapton‘s worst song over Eminem best song any day of the week
@Malice211, not a big fan of rap, but even Eminem isn't as good now as he was in the 90's.
@Malice211, what about rap dont you like?
@T9x, the fact that it is classified as music...it is, at best, short spoken word rants. The fact that someone actually plays a instrument behind the scenes (although not the artist of course) is besides the point. I will say that some of the tunes in supposed rap “songs” are catchy ...but they have nothing to do with the actual “artists” (term used loosely). Don’t feel bad...I feel the same way about most boy bands and pop music...actors pretending to have talent to further a modeling career...JLo couldn’t hold an (auto)tune if her life depended on it...the fact that she once had a cute ass and could probably give a great blowjob to music execs is the only reason she is half-famous.
@Malice211, cant argue much on the short spoken rants though some songs have rather long rants. As far as the music being about the artist well then you've just listened to the wrong rap then. The best rap is when they talk about themselves or their city.
Tupac - My Block, Unconditional Love
Tech N9ne - Fear, This Ring
Joyner Lucas - Im Sorry, Winter Blues
Eminem - Its Ok, Difficult
Krizz Kaliko - Scars, Why Me
I can go on but some rap out there is better than anything heard on the radio in the past 10 years. Boy bands and pop hits are sh^tty and rely on lights, sounds, sex appeal, and repetitive lyrics. Where the good (imo) rap is story rap. The artist tells a story of their life or their experience. And if thats not for you, give Lil Dicky a try hes pretty funny. (Songs like Pillow Talking, Professional Rapper, White Dude)
However to each their own. Rap isnt for everyone.
@Malice211, I get that you don’t like rap that’s fine. But you don’t gotta go round acting as if your opinion is fact. Also a rapper I’m surprised hasn’t been mentioned in this thread of comments is J. Cole. He makes 90% of the beats he raps on and is an amazing story teller. Songs like Love Yours, Boblo Boat, and For Your Eyez Only and are all amazing stories that demonstrate an incredible ability in music composition
@RollingInD1ck, didn’t say my opinion is fact, merely stated my opinion in one short sentence and responded to questions as asked. As for those people who enjoy rap, that is their prerogative. Some people enjoy shoving gerbils up their ass or having their testicles kicked… To each their own I say, live and let live.
Naberrie beat me to it. He gets an upvote instead
Music is like candy. To enjoy it, you must remove the rapper.
Steven Page from the Barenaked Ladies is the best white rapper of all time.
Change my mind
you sir do not need your mind changed 👌🏻
