I like self checkout... I don’t have to talk to people that way
@Kremits, "unexpected item in bagging area" *attendant walks over* dammit
@TheJimmy144, *proceeds to remove junk from bagging area*
@Kremits, I like scan as you shop. You scan and pack items as you go, then when you get to the checkout you just scan a barcode and pay.
"Dem robots terk er jobs!"
@Good Guy Satan, I live in Missouri. I hear people talk like this sometimes. *sigh*
@KittyVonClaude, Wow who knew you were friends with Will Smith from iRobot!?
@Good Guy Satan, der trk er jrrbs!
@Good Guy Satan, I just bought an iRobot Roomba last week. So yeah you could say things are pretty serious.
@KittyVonClaude, Same here. It can really be a backwards place sometimes.
@KittyVonClaude, Are you one of those, "robosexuals"?
@Good Guy Satan, I have a fully integrated SmartHome...omg maybe I am.
@milesss2, derk a der
@Good Guy Satan, Just like your a Rhomo...not to be confused with Robo you know robot-hobo.
I got to be the ball breaker. But it provided more jobs. The designer, the programmer, the repairer, the ones who install it. These machines to create have a team of people to create it. So 1 checkout person replaced with a team is ok with me.
@hasher2288, true, but the software designers, mechanical engineers, product marketing, product management, and the Salesforce requires all qualified people to build, sell, and maintain the machine. Whereas, the single position it took could be for anyone wanting to work in retail without a degree.
I hate self checkouts and don’t use them. I was at Super Target yesterday and they had 20+checkouts but only two were open and they had decent lines because of the stupid self checkouts.
Being a retail manager, I can fully understand wanting some of these in a large business. Despite bending over backwards to accommodate my staff, I still have lots of last minute “I’m sick” call ins and such. Not that people don’t get sick but don’t wait until 15 minutes before your shift to say you can’t come in! One dedicated quality cashier can manage several of these self checkouts which takes a lot of the hassle out of the scheduling process.
@Malice211, "But I ain't doing yer job for you! Hire more cashiers! Somebody not me needs to do this!" - every a$$hole complaining about long lines and refusing to use these
Well they kept wanting higher minimum wages, this what happens. Haha
Oh is that why you pay your workers shjt pay? Gtfo
Automation replaced jobs. Immigrants didn't.
Ha! Result of Corporate buyback/massive layoffs. For the win Walmart you did it.
@MidshipmanEasy, that's Obama era speak..
@meNoP, OK Mr "read my lips, no new taxes"
