I only ever played a couple times, this girl i dated in high school's older brother was into it and he'd have a guy or two over playing and we'd all get all baked and play for hours. I never understood the rules in the slightest, but it was great
@KushAndAnarchy, my girlfriend and I have a group of friends that play DnD and when she got knocked out, one of our friends used her to break down a door because it was barricaded and we had to force our way in.
@ajk8934, lol that's exactly the type of thing I loved about it, you can play all the elder scrolls in the world but you're never going to get to do stuff like that. The kind of thing you can only think up. I might get back into it if I can find some people

So relatively new dm here, what are the rules on creating monsters ? I know there’s a monster manual, but is it ok to tweak the stats and stuff? Is creating your owns stuff taboo ? Or should I just play it by the book ?
@generic zombie, the Dungeon Master's Guide has a section on creating monsters
@generic zombie, it’s not taboo to create your own monster stats or anything for that matter. If anything the books are official/templates you can use. Stuff you create would be considered “homebrew” and not official DnD created stuff though.
@generic zombie, All in all, it’s your campaign, your rules, your world.
@FullMetalLewis, There’s also some online tools that will calculate CR based on their HP, attack bonus, AC, and save DC’s. I would start with a Monster Manual creature and tweak, then check with the calculator.
@InfiniteDoors, I use Kobold Fight Club
@ajk8934, Does Kobold Fight Club have a monster builder though? They’re great for building encounters
@InfiniteDoors, no it doesn’t, what do you use - if you have a site
@ajk8934, There’s a pretty robust one on 5ETools(dot)com
@generic zombie, creating your own monsters can be tricky. Getting the balance is a tightrope walk between too easy and too hard.
Birds are awful pets.
Change my mind.
