I’m 22, someone older than me please help explain . I need an adult
@Mr Sarcastic, I’m an adult! Sad to say I need an explanation myself, because my knowledge of popular things is spotty.
@Mr Sarcastic, it's an old ass IM platform. Kind of the precursor to AIM, MSN messenger, etc
@Mr Sarcastic, ICQ (pronounced as I Seek You) was a instant message service released about the same time MSN was released. It was similar to Skype, but essentially failed because MSN had better emojis 😅🤗🤔😎
@Mr Sarcastic, “you can’t fool me with that trench coat”
*pulls off trench coat to find 2 midgets*
“Ha I knew-oh... sorry, I didn’t know...”
@kdogzzs, a more likely scenario is you pull it off to find my naked erection, exposed to the world
@Shadow Storm, that sounds pretty obscure, i dont think a lot of people would get that.
@Ginger Incorporated, turns out.
. You're right. Asked my wife if she remembered ICQ. She doesn't.
@Mr Sarcastic, im 27 and im right there with you
@Shadow Storm, ok so if its something that failed miserably how can they expect someone to know it?? Im 27 and i remember back to AOL and i lived in MSN but i dont remember ICQ.
On that note does anyone remember HDMI DVD? They came out at the same time as blue-ray but died quickly. No one ive talked to remembers them or it takes a lot to remember them
@PunnyBaker, I don't know about HDMI DVD... but I remember HDDVD.. same thing?
Bad marketing. Not enough repeated letters in the name to be catchy, so it should be replaced with HHDDVVDDBVD.
@Shadow Storm, loo well then.
@PunnyBaker, it was around long enough to be a selection on the multi messaging platforms like Trillion. Which allowed you to chat accross several platforms. I'm 33.
@Shadow Storm, ok ya it that one. When i was typing it i couldnt remember if it was HD DVD or HDMI DVD. But thats it. I just remember seeing the comparison tv screens at walmart and thinking "i dont see a difference"
@Microsoft, yeah i dont remember trillion either. But i was 10 at the time MSN came out so even tho im old enough for this meme, i was young enough to just know whatever my older siblings used and thats it
@Mr Sarcastic, I’m 26 and idk wtf that is
@Mr Sarcastic, 23 and don't have a clue. Seek someone even older.
@WelI Obviously, my mom still uses ICQ
@Mr Sarcastic, I'm 29. Never heard of it.
@WelI Obviously, it also still exists. I mean... well obviously... :D
ICQ= "I seek you", an instant messenger app developed and released in 1996.
@Strawberry Milk, 1092610....
@Strawberry Milk, I'm 34 and i hadnt heard of it
I'm eighteen and I don't but hey whatever pal. Not like I'm two kids in a trench coat or something.
*looks around nervously and wobbles while walking.
I remember it. Use to use it and Trillion as someone else mentioned. Haven’t thought about those in a long time.
I think my grandad used that, but I had no friends to message, so I didn't use any of those really. AIM for a bit, but then I got a cell phone with 10¢/txt and a $600 phone bill.
I’m having dial-up flashbacks... the sound of a 14.4 modem.....
@sr2029, Was hoping to see this comment here! But because I understood it, guess that means I’m old. Booo :(
I'm old and even I don't remember this... then again, I was dirt poor, and didn't have a lot of stuff back then
ICQ = I Seek You
As a functioning 23 year old, I have no idea what this is referencing.
Is anyone willing to explain? I can just look it up but let's get one for all the people in the audience.
@dabbage cabbage, one of the first instant messaging programs. It felt revolutionary, like being able to communicate instantly with someone... provided they gave your their screen name and were just sitting at their computer.
