@TheKen42, I dont usually care for a really rare steak. The taste is good but it can be too chewy depending on the cut. Medium or medium rare is where it's at. Anything past that is ruined

@TheKen42, when asked, it's best to respond "chef's choice/preference." The chef knows how each cut should be cooked for the best flavor and tenderness. After all, would you tell your doctor how you want your appendix removed or the mechanic how to fix your brakes?

@Steve the cat, this is only true at real steakhouses. At your average chain restaurant they cook what they are told. Now if we are talking a $300 dinner then absolutely let the chef cook it.

@TheKen42, I almost always order my steak rare simply because thatâs how I prefer it. Medium rare is a solid choice and for any people new to steaks, thatâs how I would recommend it. Medium is a preference thing, although from my experiences itâs usually ordered with lower quality cuts of meat or people who are used to lower quality cuts of meat. If you order anything more done that medium youâre dead to me.

@Not him again, I like medium rare the best, but seriously, you turn people away more by insisting they are wrong and should have it the way you think they should when they want it the way they want. I can understand a chefâs position, but if they want it well done, let them be happy with their miserable steak.

@TerryColdfire, yeah, that's just my preference. I'm not going to deny someone their preference if I'm manning the grill, but I also might give them crap about it. But then again, I'm not cooking for customers, I'm cooking for friends and family

I like my steak well done and then some. I've had it rare and medium, and I just don't understand how anyone could eat it that way. I have had cooks actually come out of the kitchen after I've sent it back to be cooked more and tell me I really dont want it that way. You weirdos have no idea what you're missing

@Nellybert , i actually like mine rare to medium rare but i just found it funny that blue rare wasnt on the list. And i just looked those 2 up and steak tartare looks like a fancy raw ground beef burger patty and filet American is just straight offensive and perfectly named...
I've found that large groups that swear by rare steaks can be some of the most close-minded, hateful people towards those that don't đ
