Probably the Constitution
@A Deformed Penis, how would you come to that conclusion? Not being an àss, seriously wondering. I wouldnt say he has done anything against the Constitution, but I may have overlooked something...
@cruss4612, At this point, it’s implicit in accepting the job.
@A Deformed Penis, well, I might be inclined to agree then.
There are lots of people who believe that he has obliterated the BoR and subsequent amendments. I am unsure of how they justify statements like that. It does seem as though each president has their own pet peeve amendment though doesnt it? Bush with search and seizure, Obama and also search and seizure, but guns if we could have gotten away with it. Clinton, guns guns guns.
@cruss4612, He’s automatically complicit, IMHO, if he doesn’t restore natural rights within 24 hours of taking office.
@A Deformed Penis, Sweet. Im guessing Libertarian? The number of infringed rights... is too damn high!
@A Deformed Penis, no. Obama flushed that down the toilet many years ago.
@cruss4612, emoluments clause much?
@Implicit88, is it broken? Because Im fairly certain if he violated emoluments clause the Democrats would have already had what they needed for impreachment. There wouldnt be a need for Mueller at all because they could have easily moved to impeach by now and wouldnt waste everyones fùcking time with Russia. They will not find anything against Trump. It is pointless.
@cruss4612, democrats just chose to not go the route of emoluments even though hes the only president in modern times to not put assets in a blind trust. Democrats cant impeach without a significant amount of republicans willing to impeach. Its not going to happen. Republicans now controls all forms of government, they now have the power to change laws to keep them in power forever. In a good democracy no one party should ever have complete control. As for russia, even if he did get help its not a crime if he didnt reveal anything or accept money or help beyond the limits of the law, which i highly doubt is the case. Ignorant people are what caused russia to be able to convince people one way or the other.
@Implicit88, emoluments would be the bigger issue and dont forget there are a lot of conservatives that dislike Trump. Republicans won't rewrite laws. They havent done anything of the sort, and they wont do it in the future. Thats scaremongering from the party that overplayed their hand. Republicans are for less government involvement, if anything they would write laws to remove centralized federal power.
I think thats what scare Democrats the most about the uber majority. In Kagans own words, a justice always finds the middle, and I see that happening again. It is a given Democrats will remove the gap between seats in the house and that ultimately curbs the theory of supreme republican control.
Again, its just scaremongering.
Emoluments is the biggest fish, but no one is willing to pursue it or even talk about it on the Hill because it will overturn a very big rock. Foreign collusion isnt going anywhere either. Theres too much distance between the man and the act.
@Implicit88, foreign interference in our elections isnt new. Its been a thing for longer than anyone cares to admit. The reason its even a talking point is because Trump was a nightmare for them. He covers himself in mud so that no one really cares or is surprised when mud gets flung at him. Dirt on Trump doesnt matter, nor will it ever, because he has always been dirty and everyone expects and accepts it. He ran his campaign the way he did because of his politically adverse life, he said those things because people were thinking them and it muddies him enough that Stormy Daniels surprised no one. The Grab Her tape was icing.
The steele dossier is entirely not credible. Everything is false because some of it is false. We cannot trust anything from it because of what was clear fabrication. Steele was a foreign intelligence agent commissioned by Clinton, so I feel like R senators may jump on that just to pork roll Hillary into the indictments and burn her too.
@cruss4612, i am not trying to scaremonger, i am just stating a system in complete control of one party is bad. Tax laws have been rewritten, unfortunately for the worst. The other reason no one will pursue emoluments is because congress themselves receives a lot of bribes. Similar to what you stated. Republicans are bot in favor of smaller government, they are in favor of smaller government in areas that benefit them as individuals. Tariffs is a great example. Tariffs is a tax paid by Americans, not other countries. While this may help american companies to an extent, this does not help the american people.
@Implicit88, those tax laws will directly benefit the middle class more than any other. The top bracket was reduced by 3%, yes, but that bracket is still 32%. The lowest brackets recieved the largest cuts. My own tax was dropped by over 6%. Couple that with a standard deduction doubling, which means most to the lower classes, and the tax laws were a home friggin run. Corporate tax rate was slashed because we have the highest of any developed nation and that was strangling research and capital reinvestment here at home.
The story that the tax cuts were bad for the poor is absolutely ridiculous. It is a bald faced lie. As a direct result of the economic policies Trump has implemented, the economy has soared better than any other modern president. "GDP will never be above 2% again"
Tariffs are meant to encourage the purchase of American over foreign. It keeps money in our economy. Not. A. Bad. Thing. China has been dumping pig steel. Tariffs are good.
@Implicit88, conservatives do not want large government. They cut funding across the board, what did they leave bloated to benefit themselves?
No, the average American is in fact much better off now than 2 years ago. That is not a coincidence. Average workforce salary has increased by 1 dollar an hour since the economic policies have been put in place. It benefits Americans. Obama gets no claim, his last two years in office were lame duck, so at best theres 4 years of gap between his last serious economic policy, and now. No this is Trump. The Republicans have shaped this economy. Allowing the market to breath will do that. Before you claim employment is just people working multiple jobs, those working multiple jobs, are not worth hiring into a full time position at a job worth paying above minimum wage. They are also in a staggering minority. Even friggin walmart is paying above 11 to start. Amazon just ganked stock options to floor workers because of Bernie. Who's bad?
@cruss4612, the decrease will not equally effect the middle class. The personal exemption went away so the doubling of the standard deduction is mute for many many people that itemized. Corp tax rate isnt the highest. The real tax they pay is no where near that rate. Many companies pay less than 10% tax rate due to loop holes, ones that were not closed with this tax reform. Also, tax is paid on income so if they use it for r&d no tax is paid. These are talking points for people that don’t understand taxes. Lower classes got a small amount, a minimum wage increase would have been way better and is needed. The tax cuts also add to the debt and companies do not raise wages based on net income, if this was true wages wouldn’t still be stagnant (wages actually decreased in trumps first year). Tariffs aren’t good, historically other companies not affected by the tariffs increase their price to just below the competitors. Its a loss loss for consumers.
@Implicit88, people that itemize already make more than the average middle class family. In order to itemize in the past, you had to have over 10 thousand in deductions that you itemized. You know anyone who could do that? Usually its someone who can claim business expenses out of their personal income.
Im telling you, wages have increased. Check DoLS. These tariffs adjust price on imports to just above current american goods prices. That is the exact opposite of your scenario. They leveled the playing field for disadvantaged blue collar work. Steel mills are opening across the country, are you going to tell me steel worker union jobs are low wage?
You are confusing corporate tax (profits) versus income tax (pay) the corporation is taxed on profits. If a company turns 1 million in profit, the 30% in tax they had to pay takes it down to 700k. Now they have an extra 100k. They use that for capital improvements, like new equipment, facilities, new products.
@Implicit88, do you even understand business? I dont expect you do. Tariffs arent affecting consumers. The tariffs are on B2B goods. Not B2C.
A company doesnt become more profitable (not the same as profit) by dumping it in dividends. Profitability is raised by reduction of inventory (sales) and by reinvesting into capital. By making processes faster, more efficient, more productive, a company reduces overhead and increases OEE. The less scrap product they create, the better. So new equipment produces higher quality product, quicker, at less cost, more efficiently than before. A company that doesnt reinvest when given the opportunity, stagnates. A competitor comes along and takes their place. Ask Sears what happened to them. Apple was poised to die until they doubled down on the ipod, iphone and ipad. Either innovate or die. It increases the likelihood they will profit more than previous years, which is what shareholders care most about.
@cruss4612, 10k to itemize? Itemization only needed to exceed the standard deduction which was 6.5k. The personal exemption applies to itemization or not, so the 4k in 2017 can be applied to either path. So the doubling of the standard deduction is really only a $1500 increase in untaxable money. Not thats only for 1-2 people. People with kids can no longer claim personal exemptions for them and will have to pay more taxes. So families of more than 2 will see a tax increase in most cases since the small drop in the tax brackets will usually not offset this especially with people with more than 1 kid. I am middle income and was always able to itemize even when i made $16 an hour since i owned a house.
@Implicit88, minimum wage is the chains with which you enslave your population. You do realize a 15 an hour minimum wage is a higher bracket, resulting in less money in take home. 8.25 brings home about 50 bucks shy of earned income. 15 brings home all but 200. Its a ploy to take more money, basically a phantom tax hike. Dont fall for it.
Anyone with a household of 4, making less than 45k a year will receive all payroll deductions and then some. Thats bad though right? Bad for poor folk? The people that didnt get returns, still dont. The people that owe money, still owe money. The tax cuts are placing more money into the hands of the people that spend it the most, thats not bad and even a basic knowledge of taxes will tell you that.
It sounds like you dont know your talking points. Or maybe you just have TDS. Keep an open mind and examine the next two years. Then consider if YOU are better off than you were 4 years ago. Dont worry about others, thats their problem.
@cruss4612, i am not confusing corporate tax profits. Corporations can run great and not have profits, its actually the best thing to do. If companies simply invested enough into themselves or their employees profits would decrease but company value would not. The profit that is taxes goes to shareholders (which do not increase company value). Accounting isn’t as simple as your example. Almost every corporation is accrual based, so carefully planning purchases and upgrades can yield minimal tax payments without having to cut the corporate tax rates. If a company has enough expenses and depreciation it can be making money but have no tax burden. No corporation says, now that we make more money i will invest more. They invest based on business need.
@Implicit88, no. I ran a business out of my home. 10k to itemize. I had to eat cost of inventory because it wasnt enough. Dont toe to toe with me son, i will crush you. I have my own cpa, and I minored in accounting. A person in the lower 3rd of brackets is going to love the tax laws come January. Just wait.
@cruss4612, look at wages adjusted for inflation. You will see a decrease. https://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/realer.pdf make sure to check rates for non supervisor employees since those are the majority. This one is only for a year but you will see while earnings went up wages went down.
@Implicit88, you are confused. Its ok, i forgive you.
@Implicit88, if inflation were in check, wages wouldnt be a concern, now would they. What drives inflation? Could it possibly be the near 20 trillion we are in debt? Maybe all that quantitative easing the republicans kept on about? Oh no, couldnt be that.
And in reference to your earlier statement, Democrats once had an uber majority but somehow Trump got elected.
@cruss4612, i never said tax cuts are bad for poor people. An increase in the minimum wage would have benefited them more than a small change in their paycheck. For the medium household which earned around 60k a year thats only a 1k tax saving per year.
@cruss4612, inflation or deflation happens no matter what. Money’s value cannot remain stagnant. New tax plan is adding to the debt btw trumps own team projected this. Regardless of that, if wage increase doesn’t outpace inflation inequality grows. This has happened for over 50 years. I am all for a plan that reduces debt over tax cuts. We can start by stripping all the perks of elected and unelected officials and taxing campaign contributions by 50% for all money donated above what an individual can give.
@Implicit88, its not a chamge in their paycheck, its how much they are responsible for at the end of the year. Listen to what Im telling you, as a person who has been minimum wage up to 50k a year in ten years. The tax burden on 8.25 will net you more per week, than 15 an hour. Minimum wage hike is a phantom tax hike. If people want to earn a living, they need to become a marketable person. What are all the people making 15-20 an hour now going to do when fry cooks make the same as they do, huh? People that spent their lives learning a trade, or getting a college education? My mother makes 14.50 an hour as a social worker for a non profit. What is her justification for college if she could have just been a school lunch lady until she retired?
Minimum wage hike is supported by Democrat politicians because its a phantom wage hike. No more refunds for single workers. EIC takes a huge drop in claims.
A hike that severe that fast will crash our economy. Its stupid.
@cruss4612, you needed a better accountant then lol. I have been itemizing for years. You need 10k to itemize including the personal exemption of 4k so 6k in actual deductions is needed. A house valued at 200k plus state taxes can help you get there easily.
@Implicit88, 24 years of increased spending in all facets of government cant be turned off like a light switch bub. It needs walked back. See where we are in 2 years.
@cruss4612, lets see if people leave amazon in mass since their $15 and hour wage hike will cause them to earn less. Wages are artificially low and the purchasing power it correlates to has been decreasing for years. Like 50 or so. An instant increase in the minimum wage across the board is of course bad. I agree with your there. But a smart approach could be very effective and is needed. The goal should be a person working full time should not need government aid. As wages increase purchasing power will and people will spend more and spending is what runs the economy.
@cruss4612, good talking to you but i need to hit the sack, hopefully you can open your eyes ;)
@Implicit88, ohio isnt enough to make that. I dont own a 200k home, i live in the inner city. The leadership of which decided to rezone without consulting the voters. So my homes value halved in one day. Thats fun. You should try it. Ive lived rural, ive lived urban, ive lived suburban. I work manufacturing. I know exactly whats good for me and the people like me. You i suspect are one of those people who are out of touch with the poor since you live in a house that has a mortgage payment above what most of my citys residents could dream of making.
@Implicit88, a person working full time in a position that merits skill or experience commensurate with higher pay.
Retail and fast food need not apply. Those without ambition do not contribute. They do not deserve 15 an hour. They do not deserve a living wage. They deserve to take care of themselves.
@cruss4612, out of touch with the poor? Where i live my house is below the median and average price. Its all relative really. I grew up poor, staying in one house no longer than 2 years and had to leave due to rent increases. No food for days sometimes, single working mom is what i had. In ohio the cost of living is much lower than where i live. While you may think $15 is a lot, its not a lot here. $15 on single income is maybe enough to by a one bedroom house. And no i dont live in a big city or near one. The funniest thing is when people say someone doesnt deserve a living wage. Mathematically speaking, there are a finite amount of jobs and a finite amount of good paying jobs, it is impossible for a finite amount of people that is greater in quantity than the total jobs to all make a living wage regardless of skill level. I think it is your who are out of touch with the facts or just incapable of putting aside bias.
Whoops, left a small piece of Russia on his shoe
@DwayneTheCockJohnson, nah, Russia is still up his a$$.
@DwayneTheCockJohnson, looks more like the French flag to me
The lying FAKE NEWS will tell you its toilet paper, but not a lot of people know this, it was actually my foot angel, one of the many angles who specifically worship my left foot
@Donald Drumpf, that must've been the one with the bone spurs, right?
* Shouts out ridiculously unsubstantiated claim that the democrats taped toilet paper to Trump’s shoe so as to make him look bad on live television*
@airguitarpro, after the shïtshow that was Kavanaugh, Im not entirely sure I wouldnt believe it. Ford was the most plausible out of all of them, and even then not entirely sure it wasnt confused.
“Excuse me Mr. President but you have some liberal lies and made up accusations on your shoe”
@Richard Cypher, so shít paper?
@Richard Cypher, watch out, 30 years from now, someone you offended here might try to accuse you of raping them
@Richard Cypher, Did you follow the whole thing? We only got snippets over here, and I have a question: did the dude actually still have his wall calendars from his uni days in the 1980s? And these had details of parties etc that he went to?
Cos that’s got to be a sign of being some kind of psycho, right there. (Is he a long term friend of Ted Cruz?)
@Nellybert , not wall calendars. Like planning calendars, in book form I believe. There was also a fairly competent explanation behind keeping them.
@cruss4612, Cool, ta. Like I said, we just got bits and pieces here. In this case, they were talking about ‘calendars’ and the accompanying picture showed someone holding up what looked like a normal wall-calendar. From what you say, I’m guessing it was actually a blown-up photocopy of a page from a desk diary then.
That would be a lot less weird.
@Nellybert , i mean, still weird. Oh rape you say?! Not with THESE you dont! Begone thot!
@cruss4612, Oh yeah, still a bit weird - just not quite as weird. I don’t know anyone who noted down who they’d been at a party with or recorded the events retrospectively (and did actual people use the word ‘brewskies’? I thought that was a word Hollywood made up to use when they needed to let the audience know that the person speaking was an arse-hole bro).
I honestly don’t know much of the detail of it the allegations/hearing thingy - he came over as a bit of a swivel-eyed loon in our media, but I don’t know how representative of him that was.
@Nellybert , generally not a swivel eyed loon. Pretty even keeled dude, but under the circumstances, you understand.
@cruss4612, Yeah. Like I said, snippets - I think I saw the entire event reduced to three pictures (him, the calendar bit, a reaction shot from the audience) and some commentary/analysis. Not enough to form a valid opinion on really.
@Nellybert , and really thats all that it needed to be for everywhere but here. He wont have any power outside the US so it doesnt matter to anyone but us. Sadly, thats about all that was broadcast here unless youre a wonk and deep dive past mass media. Like CSPAN transcripts or the like.
@cruss4612, To be honest, I think that most people who were going to get seriously worked up over it made up their minds what they thought well in advance (as is often the case in politics the world over).
May not affect us, but since when has that ever stopped people sticking their noses in to things? 😝
Popcorn! Popcorn! Hot and fresh popcorn here! $1 a bucket! Get it while it’s hot! 🍿
*Hail to the Chief plays*
I was waiting for him to dab on us
"The whole world is laughing at us"
I wonder why
That must be his draft deferment papers the doctor had taped directly to his bone spurs to show exactly where the ouchie is.
I kind of wonder if he does stuff like this to screw with us.
@RogueKnight, Im almost certain he does. At least to piss off the left. His supporters just kind of view him as an everyman having everyman problems. Im not sure how anyone looks at anything on the tv and thinks, "Boy, the Trump sure does make me mad/proud" anymore. How anyone looks at the tv and goes "this is REAL news here, nothing fake or scripted about anything dependent on my views to exist going on here. Better take the person in the box at their word!" That really confuses me. Ive known about "fake news" since I was 20 and first saw the lies with my own two eyes.
@RogueKnight, essentially if hes not doing it to screw with us, and he might be, its definitely the media doing it.
@cruss4612, when Trump truly acts presidential, I'm proud of him. I like what he has done, but I'm tired of his name calling and childish behavior. He needs to stop tweeting.
@RogueKnight, exactly the problem he acts presidential but he ISN’T presidential. Not to mention his love for yellow journalism.
alright so how many people saw this coming and didn't help him out is an important question to be asked but why they didn't is an even better question
