Why does everyone of these memes have unnecessarily bad grammar?
@50SEVEN, It's the hip new thing.
@50SEVEN, not to be an ass, but if you want to talk grammar, it’s “every one” not “everyone” in this context. Also...“do” instead of “does” since you are suggesting plurality. Edit from follow-up: it may actually still be does depending on the interpretation. English is weird.
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, you are right
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, I think it would still be "does" but I can't explain why.
@LivingAngryCheese, cheese! Hey man! This is one of those weird cases due to the “every one of” modifier. It may help if you think of a different example. Such as “why do wolves run in packs?” is correct but “why does the wolves run in packs?” doesn’t work grammatically. If the OP wrote “Why does every instance of this meme have unnecessarily bad grammar?” that can also work.
@LivingAngryCheese, it's does because they said the word one, indicating that, while they are speaking about a group, which is plural, they are specifically talking about each member of the group separately. At least, that's how I see it. However, I'm not an English major, so there may be subtleties that I'm unaware of that would dictate otherwise.
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, Hey! Sorry that I left that chat you invited me to without notice - it was spamming me with notifications and I was quite busy and tired at the time so I just deleted it given I figured I wouldn't even get the opportunity to join in on anything soon.
@LivingAngryCheese, that’s fair. I always keep the main chat muted to prevent the spam, and just check in on it every now and then. Whenever you re-download it my contact should still be there so just let me know.
@Doctor Yak, interesting. I can see that too. Synopsis: English hard. Other languages good. Haha.
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, To put it simply, the way I see it, "Why does every one of these memes have unnecessarily bad grammar?" would be correct, though each would perhaps sound better than every, but "Why does these memes have unnecessarily bad grammar?" is obviously wrong.
@LivingAngryCheese, and that’s funny because in some accents/dialects (especially from my region), the do/does relationship is so bastardized that what feels right to me may be completely off to what others say and write.
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, Yeah, though I come from Essex in the UK (you could have possibly heard of the TV show The Only Way Is Essex, personally I hate it) and Essex is not well known for proper English, I go to a slightly posh private school so people generally have mostly correct grammar
@LivingAngryCheese, they dun tawk gud fo the peepools. (That hurts to write)
@WhoseLineIsItAnyway, My former English teacher mother has drilled grammar nazism into me and that pained me to read
@50SEVEN, because our education system is wiggity wiggity wack in a lot of areas?
Why waste money on a 3D-printer, jist kill its mother and use her skull.
They're gonna CuBONE later
What kind of dog is this ?
Started with one printer and got asked why. To make/print a second one of course.
@tomansager, I have a friend who actually did that. It was completely functional, too.
