My ex used to say to me calm down, let it go, why are you so emotional, put down that knife, and depression is just in your head. Jerk.
@Kamitha, some people's kid... Smh
@Liger500, what was that middle one?
@Cujoe, the emotional one? Right how are you going to tell someone to stop with the emotions?
@Cujoe, ...why are you so emotional?
@Kamitha, no, no, no the one after
@Cujoe, Oh...right. Depression is just in your head. When he said that, I was like, whaaaaa??
@Kamitha, mine told me similar things along with "you're just looking for attention". I'm sorry you had to go through that.
@moolou, I’m sorry you had to go through it as well. It sucks. And knife joke aside, he really did say all those things to me.
Wow, even my dad tells me he cant deal with my depression, but id dare to say that lil dude deserves the support more than me anyway.
@GunLovingMerican, I’d dare say you have a lot more value than a cartoon dog.
@Berntley, he’s a good dog brontley
@GunLovingMerican, but in all seriousness, you deserve love and support. You are a valued member of this community and we love you
@Berntley, thanks bro i appreciate that.
@RollingInD1ck, thank you as well, i really do appreciate it.
@GunLovingMerican, Sure thing, man. I can’t personally ensure that we all have a great Thanksgiving, but I’m hoping the best for everyone, and will do my best to try and keep things positive around here, at least for this week. Or just weird. Positive, or weird.
@Berntley, i hope you have a great thanksgiving my friend.
Like this comment if you have a mental illness. I wonder how many FPians are struggling
That cat is just a head, tail, and legs.
@Diabolik, is that not what all cats are?
Yeah but every other person claims to be depressed, that means that there has to be a good portion of people that are just being attention whores and need to grow a pair
@LoveTheBomb137, There’s been such stigma surrounding mental illness for so long that I’m glad people are finally starting to talk about it. Yeah, there are going to be attention seekers but I think that people getting help for their mental illness instead of hanging themselves in the closet makes dealing with the random jerk worth it.
Just my opinion from one of the lucky ones with a brain chemical imbalance.
@LoveTheBomb137, so have you done any research on depression or are you just assuming this?
@Kamitha, It's not just attention seekers though. The discussion on mental illness has crossed into a level where over-diagnosing becomes a real issue. People are condition today that if they have a little thing wrong or if they feel sad one day or feel that life is tough that they could have a mental illness. People are so ready to accept answers for how they're feeling that they just accept they have a mental illness. Basically life sucks for everyone and it's not always anyone or anything's fault. It doesn't mean you have any issues and we need to be teaching people this.
@Devils Conscious, Yes, I completely agree that there should be more constructive discussion about mental illness in today’s society. And I agree that people have started diagnosing themselves as apposed to getting real help. But I’d rather weed out the people without real problems than know that someone didn’t get the help they needed. Life is very hard but it doesn’t have to be terrible. We all deserve to be happy and have decent, joyful lives.
