I’ll settle for a gif.
Anyone notice that a VAST majority of the uploads on here are from reddit/tumblr/twitter? The only reason that it matters is due to the long review and wait time StuckPixel takes to upload submissions, it might be a week or two since the original post was made. I scroll past the upload here and feel deja vu because I saw it a week ago on Reddit. Kinda feel like that’s why this app is dying.
@Jesus Chrysler, i dont go through any other websites for memes since ive got this one, so im not experiencing that issue. Also pretty sure funnypics is still removed from the app store, and people complain about the ad spam too, so countdown to the final day is coming i feel. Been a good decade+ as funny pics being my main source of memes, wonder where ill go to next
@Dexios S Divine, it’s still in the App Store, though the last update was over a year ago.
@Jesus Chrysler, I'm still here because I've had the app for more than a decade and I love the small community of people I share that with here. This app has genuinely been an influential on my life and as far as online communities go, I'm sure we're so civil because theres so few of us. Most of us are recognizable at this point, and i dont get that anywhere else.
@Jesus Chrysler, main problem of this app is quantity over quality. Back in the day you have 8-16 pictures a day, 8 more offen than not. But 6+ pictures i could consider funny. Now i may consider 1-2 funny out of the 50+ pictures that are added each day.
@Implicit88, my friend i think youre just experiencing what a great deal of us are. Aging. Nothing thats posted anymore is funny because the new generations humor is essentially anti-humor that they just lap up. It seems the less thought and wit are put into a meme or joke the funnier they think it is ironically
@I Am Captain Obvious, yeah i got this back in like 7th grade and ive had ever since so thats like 8 years. Its been quite awhile.
@Implicit88, I think part of that is the nostalgia factor. We tend to remember things to be better than they may have actually been - commenters, picture humor in your case. I just took a random sample of 33000-33007 and I cannot say all the rage faces were better than this pic and the next 7. A lot of it is preference. We can see recent pics with upvotes of 100 and then some with 500+.
I do remember waiting 4-8 hrs between updates for a number of pics I could count on one hand. But the quantity has only increased because that is the direction technology/memeage has been heading. It has become easier to make memes and with more people making them, the results are faster and topics more widespread. If the number of pics here become restricted, I think it would deter users away, not encourage them to stay
@FFCrisisC, i dont think thats the case. If that was the app should have seen a population growth as the increase in cell phones to the new generation (i first got this app on my ipod touch before smartphones were popularized). I actually tend to like some of the simply stuff, especially the crazy who wouldve thought of that (aka new picture ralph standing up to shaggy). I realize humor is relative, but the nee humor is obviously not holding up, the last thing it could be is just the general death of memes.
@Jesus Chrysler, aye you right, couple weeks ago it got removed, glad its back
@Implicit88, I think the stagnance of our population could be due to FP being so underground and not widely known. I know everyone has different preferences in humor, but this is just my experience at least. My closet friendships were built on memes, and we exchange loads of them daily. Everyone I meme trade with regards me their Lord, and they all use the mainstream sources. They ask me where I get mine, and actually they tend to send me ones I've already seen more often than the latter. Personally, I regard FP as a hidden gem.
@Jesus Chrysler, it seems to me like more memes, whether they are a week or yow old or not, are added each day than I have ever noticed before, there are lots of people commenting on them, and they seem to be making money with the adds, that doesn’t add up to dying as far as I can see.
@I Am Captain Obvious, it's nice that's for sure
@I Am Captain Obvious, amen
After 20 tries, they paid the Butler a bonus to learn photoshop and fix it.
It's Photoshop tho...
The first version is better, where they the only point of contact is thier genitals
They’re going to fusion to a super skinny man since one of them doesn’t have his legs stretched
