My friend was at an American Metal Festival and someone he was with was stabbed with a needle that read "Welcome to the world of AIDS" and proceeded to test HIV positive.
@Chicken0War, my god
@Chicken0War, honestly hope they caught that person and gave em a death sentence
@Chicken0War, That's absolutely horrifying. I'm getting itchy all over just from thinking about it.
@The Flame War, itchy?
@dwnzsnwlion, I hope so but he only saw the needle after coming out of a mosh pit so not a lot of luck.
@I Are Lebo, Yes.
@dwnzsnwlion, sadly if it was in the great state of California, even if they could find the guy, he cannot be charged because it’s no longer a felony to *knowingly spread HIV, even with malicious intent* those shjtbirds be crazy
@Sven and Otar, That's absolutely idiotic. Why don't they prosecute people like that?
@The Flame War, because it’s “discriminatory toward homosexuals” I’m not making that up, they passed that law at some point last year I believe. Keep in mind, a law already was in place to protect those who *unknowingly* spread HIV (which I think is fair, you should not be held accountable for evils you were ignorant of doing), they just decided to protect those who *knowingly* pass HIV along. Explicitly because it’s discriminatory.
It’s insane, but sadly true
@Sven and Otar, Makes me want to move to forest and never talk to anyone again.
@Sven and Otar, the law regarding spreading HIV does not extend to literally stabbing someone with a dirty needle. That’s still homicide.
@I Are Lebo, assault, sure, but homicide or spreading of HIV, not at all. Homicide requires that you killed somebody, and HIV is treatable when caught early (you can never be cured, but it won’t kill you). The best you could hope for would be an assault charge being that in the U.S. assault is generally met by the victim either being mildly attacked or in fear of attack and this state of attack or fear being intentionally created by the perpetrator (i.e. in NY it’s considered assault to toss your drink on someone if they wanted to press charges)
@Sven and Otar, I don’t know about elsewhere, but in Canada, knowingly infecting someone else with AIDS carries a homicide charge.
Also, tossing your drink on someone counts as assault practically everywhere. It’s just rarely prosecuted.
@I Are Lebo, well I know that homicide requires you to have actually performed an action directly resulting in the person’s death here in most states. Knowingly spreading HIV by stabbing a needle does not meet this standard. If you attempted to kill someone but failed (like sliced open a major artery or something and they survived) that’d count as attempted homicide/murder, but that’d be a bit of a stretch to have that go to spreading HIV in our courts anyway
Like you mentioned regarding homicide, all I knew about assault is that in the U.S. it’s a pretty low bar to reach like by tossing a drink. I know not of what the legal standards are elsewhere in the world
@Sven and Otar, I think it’s a delayed thing. If you infect someone with HIV and they later die from complications of AIDS, that’s when the charges of homicide are filed.
But yeah, assault, and also assault and battery, have very low legal requirements.
@Sven and Otar, I’ve been charged with assault three times (as a minor), and in none of those incidents did I so much as draw blood.
@Chicken0War, that's one of my worst fears right there. I'm so sorry about your friend.
@Sven and Otar, there’s absolutely no way that can be true cause if it is then I’m gonna have to blow up the entire state of California... how the fvck can that not be punished
@Chicken0War, if u found the guy that did that and savagely beat him to death I really don’t think there’s a jury in the world that would convict u
@sgc6610, unfortunately it is, it’s no longer a felony to knowingly or even maliciously spread HIV in the state of California
@Sven and Otar, i have 0 faith in our society
Canadian festival: someone not saying sorry.
Nah she just haven't been to enough festivals, I once saw a 60+ year old woman high off crack doing naked cartwheels. The police got her a few minutes later but the mental images will forever haunt my dreams.
Beneath that polite exterior, the British know how to party.
If that's the worst thing she's seen, she's in for one hell of a life...
I was at a US festival where some guy took too much of something and he was running through people’s campsites tearing shjt up, ripping open tents, and beating anyone he came across, all while screaming, “RAPE A ROCK!” over and over. Eventually got pinned down by like a dozen guys until the cops got there.
