*sigh* Did he say that?
@Genieinabotle, fair of you to ask. I was just as baffled so I checked it out. Yes, he said it, but idk if he was being sarcastic or not because idk the full context.
@Genieinabotle, it’s sad that we have to ask
@Eltrompetista, I think what’s worse is this isn’t fake
@Genieinabotle, unfortunately yes. He has a history of fighting against wind energy, starting by trying to sue Scotland for installing off shore turbines near the coast of his golf resort
@The Puppet Man, This is what happens when we get an oompa loompa reject at the head of a country...
@The Puppet Man, he wasn’t. He was arguing against wind turbines because they kill birds (true but not as bad as it seems) and they make noise which he claims causes cancer (excessive noise such as in a city is correlated with higher risk of cancer but they haven’t proven causation)
It’s all a part of the “clean coal” rhetoric advocating for expanding fossil fuel use
@Genieinabotle, hes also an anti vaxxer, are we really surprised?
@Donald Drumpf, I’d call him something particularly rude, but as my government is trying to write laws to force websites to ‘protect’ us from all the bad stuff online, there’s a chance that my excessive swearing now could one day lead to this app being banned in the UK. It’s a slim risk, but not one I’m willing to take.
@Genieinabotle, yes its on video
@The Puppet Man, he was being serious sadly. I saw the entire thing. He said it as fact to be specific.
@Genieinabotle, google “infrasound cancer” and then look up sources of infrasound. It’s all there.
@The Puppet Man, does whether or not he said it sarcastically really matter any more?
@CellSword, I guess not but I was kinda staying in the middle because I honestly don't care for politics
@The Puppet Man, our country has become a side show in the past 3 years
@Nellybert , you know, can you really insult the head of another country when the heads of yours take away your very freedoms?
@Pubmarine Shamwich, wow, I'd never heard of that before
@Medic135, Yes (for now, anyway, that may be the next thing to go). While that comment was mostly a vehicle for me to vent about what’s happening here, what he said was still dumb.
@Nellybert , I'll not dispute that, I'm an open conservative but I'll be the first to say he says many things that he did not remotely think about first
@Medic135, From an outside perspective, that’s probably his biggest problem. As a foreigner, I don’t know a lot of details about many of his policies (beyond him liking walls more than he does wind turbines), but by God have I seen a lot of jokes about his ‘tan’, hairstyle, and covfefe comment.
@Nellybert , he, like president bush or vice president Biden before him, is an extremely memeable president and it is his own fault. All's fair in meme and war
@Medic135, True. I think the trick is to own it when that happens - if you joke about it first, it kills off a lot of other people’s jokes.
He’s a billionaire and President of the United States of America, if I was him I’d just roll with the jokes while thinking “ah, screw you, I’m a billionaire and President of the United States of America. Are you? Nope, didn’t think so, losers”.
@Medic135, I hadn’t heard of it either. But it still doesn’t cause cancer. It annoys people and can make them feel nauseous. But there’s absolutely no link to cancer.
Where as fossil fuel’s there are plenty of links to cause cancer.
@Nellybert , you are right. He likes to make claims that he was just joking. Even though he wasn’t. But he himself does not know how to take a joke. Or to just go with the mistakes and joke about it too.
@Seohn, in this day and Age nothing surprises me by suddenly causing cancer, but I was taken aback at the claim wind turbines were responsible. I think wind turbines are neat
@Medic135, they are neat. Wind turbines aren’t “responsible” for infrasound any more than you farting after eating Mexican food is “responsible” for greenhouse gasses.
Deaf people: *covers eyes*
Looking at this comment section I feel right at home.
I see that Trump has been playing City Skylines.
I’m quite irritated with people who begin conversations with “did you hear what Trump said/did now?!”
@I Are Lebo, I mean he is basically a sideshow attraction at this point so it’s not surprising people bring what he says up whether to ridicule or just laugh about.
@I Are Lebo, I feel like it must be terrible to live that way. Like one mans random ramblings are the first they look up in the morning and it ruins the rest of their week. I can understand why so many people are suicidal if that’s how they live
@I Are Lebo, to be fair if the leader of your nation is saying stupid sh1t it makes the entire nation look stupid. We have a vested interest in what he says. I personally dont care anymore since i know his core audience probably now believes sound vibrations cause cancer.
@Richard Cypher, 🤦♂️
@Implicit88, dude, I’m Canadian. I know what it feels like. If it wasn’t for Trump, Trudeau would be the one holding the Idiot World Leader title.
@Richard Cypher, it’s just that it never changes. His behaviour has not changed in three years. Why the fûck are people still shocked when he shows what an asshole he is?! It’s like sheep being surprised by the sun rising every day.
@I Are Lebo, i meant your as in ones general nation. Nice to know more about you. I dont enough about Trudeau to say hes good or bad, but he seems like hes an Obama type character.
@Implicit88, I’m not sure what you mean by Obama type, because Obama had very different aspects to his personality that he showed or didn’t show. Obama giving a speech to Congress is VERY different from Obama lecturing a hall of black students at a university.
As for Trudeau, the only difference between Trump and Trudeau is that Trudeau is a well meaning retard, while Trump is a self centred retard.
Trudeau is now famous for that time he interrupted a woman asking him a question in order to correct her usage of “mankind”. He told her it should be “peoplekind”. He later tried to walk it back as a joke but if you watch the footage it’s entirely clear he was being serious. Very far left leaning buffoon with awful economic ideas. He brags that his cabinet is an even split of 50/50 men and women, which shows how retarded he is, because as far as I’m aware that’s the ONLY thing he brags about regarding them.
@I Are Lebo, as I said it doesn’t seem to be “shock” so much as humor. Obviously some people are gonna be outraged by it because some people get outraged by everything, but for me personally I’ve noticed people bringing up Trump and his ramblings like you’d bring up a funny anecdote or movie. It’s something dumb to laugh about with friends.
@I Are Lebo, Possibly in that Obama was a slick, charismatic, seemingly likable dude, which made him all the more nefarious when it came to politics. The fact that he had this “cool guy” facade was enough to galvanize the (moderate) left as apologists, even moreso than is typically inherent in our two party system.
Trudeau strikes me as having much the same appeal, if you will. He seems relatable and approachable, and MSM doesn’t really care to look much deeper than that, at least outside of Canada. He also has greatly benefitted on the international stage from basically nipping at Trump’s heels all the time. Trump says or does something characteristically idiotic, and Trudeau has a supposedly organic response to it almost immediately as an “in your face” kind of statement. It seems pretty obvious to me, but kinda goes largely unmentioned.
@TR8R, then I didn’t make myself clear. While I agree that it’s more about outrage than shock, it’s literally insane to continue being outraged by the same stupid things, over and over again.
Not only is it stupid, but it’s playing directly into Trump’s hands. He says and tweets outrageously precisely because it draws attention away from where he doesn’t want it. I have no idea how much of his behaviour is the result of training (as opposed to conscious decisions), but he’s a master of diversions. People need to pay less attention to what Trump says and more attention to what he actually does.
@I Are Lebo, maybe I didn’t make myself clear either. I am not outraged, just mildly and depressing amused. I agree with your general assertion, I was just offering my personal experience about why some people still bring him up everyday
@Berntley, I see what you mean. Yeah, I think it’s an accurate comparison. Trudeau is widely adored by the older and left wing voters in Canada, even after he’s made numerous extreme blunders. Not so much now with the whole SNC Lavalin thing, but he’s still much more popular than he should be.
I like Steven Crowder. His impersonation of Justin Trudeau is just himself, in a vagina costume, sopping wet. 😋
@I Are Lebo, I’m not a fan of Crowder, but that’s fvcking funny.
@TR8R, I never thought you were outraged.
@Berntley, he can be a dick, sometimes, and that type of humour isn’t for everybody.
@I Are Lebo, more of the likability factor and how he presents himself. How he talks and such. He just has that natural charisma that makes him seem good. But like i said i dont really know much about him.
@Implicit88, the thing is, in retrospect a lot of those aspects of Obama seem to clearly have been false. He was not a man of his word, and he was way too liberal with executive orders.
@I Are Lebo, well most presidents are not honest with everything they say. Obama was more moderate left, his healthcare plan for example was actually a slightly modified version of the right wings healthcare plan. I dont particularly like obama myself, but he was better than his predecessor for sure.
@Implicit88, yeah, Bush was retarded.
@I Are Lebo, I had no idea you were Canadian
@Medic135, yup. Born and raised Ontarian. 🇨🇦
Me: Nothing the Dems say could surprise me any more
Dems: We need to ban all air travel and Hawaii can use trains
@Needless Contrarian, We need to prevent cows from pooping
@Needless Contrarian, no Trump is a Republican.
@Needless Contrarian, was looking for the whataboutism in the comments, lo and behold
@Needless Contrarian, your ignorance is quite astonishing. You obviously have consumed propaganda and take it as fact. The resolution merely wants to reduce air travel in the foreseeable future. Of course in the future we dont know whats going to happen but conventionally flying will probably evolve to some other form.
@TR8R, except he said none of that
@Implicit88, the resolution got the exact number of Senate votes it deserved too
@Medic135, I never said he did :) ‘‘twas a joke, but if you feel the need to downvote to teach me a lesson then I shall endure it somehow...
@Medic135, ignoring reality will not make it false. Just like ignoring gravity wont make you fly.
Well yes, but actually no.
Can you prove him wrong tho?
this was a joke guys...tf
@DoctorDudeman, As far as anyone knows, the only sound that causes cancer is Donald Trump using incorrect grammar.
@DoctorDudeman, I mean, he presented the argument. He needs to back it up. That's how burden of proof works
@DoctorDudeman, can you prove him right tho?
@DoctorDudeman, I’m waiting.
@TR8R, on the world to change?
@DoctorDudeman, ah so you don’t have proof. Damn shame :/
@TR8R, I do, I just dont like sharing for free
@DoctorDudeman, nah you don’t. Lemme know if you find it tho, I’ll show you my unicorn ;)
@TR8R, I’ll have a bridge to sell him after he finally finds that wire stretcher I asked him to get.
@DoctorDudeman, if I could downvote you a thousand times for that last comment, I would
@batdogsowner, ok but why tho?
@DoctorDudeman, u r a killer. Provr me wrong
@Pope Temporal, google “infrasound cancer” and then research causes of infrasound
@Pubmarine Shamwich, i have researched this topic online and have found no credible sources that make any links between wind turbines and cancer. Now infrasound, like any sound, can make people feel different ways and even hurt people. What generates infrasound? Basically everything in the modern century. It should also be noted the human body constantly is producing infrasound, so by trumps logic being near other humans causes cancer. Lastly, literally everything has at least a small chance to cause cancer as there are many causes and forms of cancer.
@Pubmarine Shamwich, I just did some googling, and every top response emphasized the idea of windmills having no demonstrated connection to cancer. I also wasn't trying to be controversial. Simply wanted to point out the commentators fallacy in his argument
@DoctorDudeman, you can prove him wrong really easily. There is absolutely no scientific evidence to support that sound causes cancer. None whatsoever.
Super easy to look up. But there’s plenty of evidence that shows that fossil fuel‘s cause cancer.
Here if you need help.
@Seohn, what am I missing...?
This was a joke comment to start with I didn't mean it to be taken seriously...
@Pubmarine Shamwich, yep doesn’t “prove” anything. Unless you think chimneys should all be banned and torn down too?
@Implicit88, hell even storms, waterfalls, and the damn ocean can cause infrasound. Better just get rid of all that rotten stuff. Actually considering that the denial of climate change makes sense, the Republicans are trying to alter Earth to get rid of Infrasound!!!! Brilliant
@DoctorDudeman, maybe you shouldn’t have doubled down on it then?
@TR8R, no. Obviously banning everything would not help but transitioning away from it would help a lot in terms of an overall approach. But burning of things do contribute to cancer. Then you have fraking and radio towers that contribute as well
@Implicit88, um. I think you took my comment more seriously than you should’ve. Maybe I should’ve used /s or something lol.
@TR8R,clearly. Oh well, I guess the community has changed too much for me and my old fashioned comments. Back into the shadows with me.
@DoctorDudeman, if you say so
@batdogsowner, I don't know who you think you're replying to, but you didn't
@Medic135, oh! Oops. Thanks.
Y’all laughing at this and yet nobody knows about the retardation that is the green new deal.
100+ comments, oh boy
I’m going to quit being a republican and just be a publican, the first pint will be on me.
Listen, I like alot of things about Ol' Trumper. His actions tend to please me as a voter, but his mouth makes me wonder what the hell is happening in that frizzy orange head
@Medic135, my main issue is when he doubles down on this stuff, saying things like "a lot of scientists have told me" after someone calls him out on something dumb
@Medic135, the voices are starting to contradict each other
@Pope Temporal, he has a very poor temperament
It was out of context and sarcasm. Anybody who looked this up... What mainstream media did you read? CNN? NBC maybe? Give me a break. Listen to the whole speech for once and stop believing these sound bytes like they’re gospel.
@LoveTheBomb137, explain it to us then. What did he actually mean by this
@TR8R, He was listing off reasons why wind farms are an inefficient source of renewable energy. I don’t know the exact quote but he basically said...
“They’re large, loud, are an eye sore, and *scoff* people say they cause cancer”
Now let’s take a look at Trump... Very egotistical and very sure of himself. ‘People’ say they cause cancer? People? If he wasn’t being sarcastic, why wouldn’t he just say they do cause cancer? That’d be a huge reason not to build them! If there was actual research out there that stated that, he would of made that his FIRST point. As much as the guy runs his mouth he isn’t stupid.
But instead he just said it as if the list goes on and on. Like... “People even make the argument it causes cancer! Where does it stop.”
It’s a Twitter tier hashtag made so all the blue checks can go on and on about how much they hate Trump like a bunch of clowns living in a clown world.
@LoveTheBomb137, so it was a pointless comment that shouldn’t have been included in what I assume what a serious list of concerns? Or should we consider all the concerns listed along with that with the same skepticism? Where does it end at that point? Sure people nitpick the hell out of what he says but that’s his own damn fault. The whole thing is basically a massive circus with both parties playing the clowns
@TR8R, No, actually... some people like him for that. Instead of a scripted heartless answer a politician would print out, he just talks. It’s not always professional, and he puts his foot in his mouth.
Both parties are full of career politicians who are clowns... Trump isn’t. Draining the swamp is the best idea if you want to take the stance that both parties are wrong... Both parties certainly dislike him, and honestly I think that’s a good sign.
@LoveTheBomb137, yeah sorry but no. He is just as much of a corrupt clown as everyone else. “Draining the swamp” at this point means getting rid of him as well. The greatest evil in modern America is this forced divide between two parties that creates and fosters the resentment and anger towards the “enemy”. And Trump is front and center in riling up his rabid fan base against the “socialist libtards”
@LoveTheBomb137, basically I believe the entire US political system needs to be ripped out at the root and replaced. Nothing will change for that country until that happens
At last! We found the oranges of cancer!
There it is.
