Ok im on the fence about this one. Some people do treat their pets like their kids (or legit consider them a member of the family as oppose to a pet) and its overboard. BUT most pet food really is garbage and you should do your research on what is actually in it. And again on the other side, you should do that for yourself too. Too many people i know spend hundreds of dollars on pet for for their pet yet they themselves eat garbage boxed foood full of high sugar content and bad fillers.
Just pay attention to the labels on all sides dâmnít. Or better yet - buy real food that doesnt have a label to read!
EDIT: sorry for the rant. It's Easter Monday and im working this morning. i need more sleep and coffee.
@PunnyBaker, I agree! Except for the parts where you treat your pet as a member of your family. I think that's perfectly normal, to he honest. But I too agree that treating them like actual humans/children is both weird and potentially harmful for the animal.
@A pet named Steve, oh im meaning like filing them on your tax return or census as a family member as oppose to a pet or referring to your family as 6 when its really 4 humans and 2 pets. I grew up with cats and i loved them and would consider them part of the family. But i will still put a persons life before an animals in a life-and-death situation. All lives matter (except pesly insects) but eventually you have to draw the line and understand that humans and animals are different and require different treatment and care
@PunnyBaker, I even treat insects equally lol. But I get what you mean. I honestly don't know how I would react if I had to choose between a dog and a human, for example. If it was my dog, I'd save him. It's difficult to think about. Hopefully, we'll never get into a situations where that is necessary... But yeah. And here in German we have a dog tax so I think we literally have to file them on tax returns haha. Still, I agree with you.
@A pet named Steve, id be very torn if i had to choose between my pet and a human. First death i ever experienced was my childhood cat and it was pretty traumatizing. And ya here in canada theres no pet taxes. Just general animal rules if you are in an apartment or townhouse complex or anything with a strata - but thats more just regulating quantity and breeds per house in those types of houses. Nothing to do with the government side.
@PunnyBaker, I get the Merrik's brand for my dog. It's a lot better than most food brands
How dare people treat pets like their kids. Kids are fvcking awful and should never be compared to my puppers
@BigJohnson86, pets are better than kids.
@Raki Zaki, we will see when you are 80
@seeUpee, I won’t live that long.
@Raki Zaki, you lowered the bar I see. I like it
@seeUpee, I think I'll be pretty glad when I'm 80 having spent my life doing whatever the fvck I want
@Scottles, if that is what you want to do then do it. Just don’t fall for some really good wet pussy. Cuz once you are hooked....
@seeUpee, I hear you lol
Most of my friends have kids so I often compare my cat to a child just to watch the rage form in their faces. Then I calm them down by saying, “I’m only kidding. My cat is nothing like a human child...I could never love a child as much as I love my cat.”
i refuse to feed my dog food that has antifreeze or hydrochloric acid in it, not sure if that’s me treating her as my child so much as just making sure she doesn’t develop kidney failure or cancer but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Check out dog food advisor for decent dog food reviews, you will find what is is awesome and what isnt. Brands dont mean anything.
I know it's cliche but my butcher only feeds his dogs raw offcut meat and they are absolutely huge
Just dont feed your dog (or especially cat) that vegan bullshjt just because that's how you live your life. They need the protein and nutrients from meat.
Blue Buffalo isn't quality food just because its expensive. My dog eats Natural Balance, it's about 70 dollars a bag, but I like to think I know a bit about pet food considering I used to be a store manager for Petco and they would constantly have reps come in and give us info.
Also, don't shave your long haired dog. EVER. ESPECIALLY NOT IN THE SUMMER.
@Not him again, why not shave them?
@freshoutoffvcks, unless its necessary for hygiene (like matted fur), it messes with their bodies ability to control temperature, causing them to get overheated very easily.
@freshoutoffvcks, it depends on the type of coat, my shih tzu has a single coat and requires often grooming, double coated dogs should never be cut
