EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY!
@Frankito, Miss me with that gay shît
Catholic Church: love everybody, we are all gods children
Also the church: Unless they’re not Catholic then it’s time for a crusade ⚔️
@generic zombie, sorry man read history, the crusades follow all definitions of a defensive war. Christendom had the right to defend it self from violent expansionist ideology.
@That one lurker, Many instances are thought to be pure expansionism. Even the first crusade was publicly stated to be for reclaiming the holy land, but widely believed to be an effort to unite the eastern and western churches' areas of influence. Some may have been defensive, but definitely not all.
Edit: Not to mention that many areas liberated were not returned to their former/rightful rulers and instead were pillaged and or brought under Catholic rule.
@That one lurker, you should cut back on Steve Crowder.
@griffinstorme, sure, show me where he's wrong and I will.
@That one lurker, Did you know sea lions are pretty f🍆ckin' big?
@spences, I'll be a tad more precise the stated goal by the church during that time was to reunite catholicism. My statement where it would be consumer defensive War is by the UN standards of the constitution of a just war.
I think you misunderstand the difference between a war and conflicts. Also the time period needs to be thought of as well, war was positively brutal, if you want an engagement it was common to convert cities temples and keep the land you fought for and won.
Also, what do you mean by former/ rightful leaders?
@Jdrawer, did Steven Crowder say that they were small? How does this make him wrong on historical facts?
@That one lurker, Reuniting Catholicism is one thing. The Rhineland massacres of the Jews is another. All I'm saying is that the crusades were not purely defensive wars. I do contend that I misspoke when I mentioned former leaders, etc. I meant the Byzantines, which I know had Catholic roots, but were "liberated" only to be put under a different rule. Yes, that is quite common with war, but the point still stands. Truth be told, I only responded because of your "read history" comment, and don't truly care enough to argue back and forth.
Edit: Also, I don't know if you are taking all of your points from a YouTube personality without doing your own research (because I think he's too biased for rational thought and have no desire to listen to him), but that's a little narrow-minded. Don't you think?
This is the last comment I'll make on this, no matter the response, because as I said before, I truly do not care enough.
@spences, that's more then fair, I'm really put that jab in there because of the over simplification zombie was giving. When it comes to a defensive war title it should be mentioned it's a blanket over the war, most atrocities inside the war doesn't change the nature of the war.
I've done my own research on the topic and found. I try to understand where the arguments come from by either and every side have a conversation or debate. We all have our ways of getting taught, it's no different than taking a college course on the matter. You need to do your research after everything that you learn, so I don't understand why a person would cut them selves off from learning something new.
@That one lurker, three arrows on YouTube did a pretty good takedown of his crusades nonsense. Check it out
@griffinstorme, never heard of this guy, probly messed up my algorithm by being fair to recommendations, but I checked him out. Watched two vids before diving in the deep end to see if he was worth the time, 1k subscriber vid and an sjw vid. The 1k vid set the bar to high, the secound vid had problems with subjection and mounting leaps of logic.
This was nothing to say about the crusade vid, but it's good to know who you're dealing with before watching an 1h+ vid. A few inconsistencies where he accidentally doubled back and contradicts himself, some uncharitable remarks at the start making him sound nitpicky, and the script devolved into pure opinion and speculation at the end.
All and all good video, I'll check in on him every once and awhile. It is quite hilarious that he put the vid out on the day this thread started.
"Did I stutter?!"
Jesus just wrecked that guy
@BoomPowYeah, if only he actually said that. That would be great!
“Love everybody, except queers. Love them too, but give them less rights because they’re gross” -Jesus, probably
Fun fact: not all Christians hate gay people or reject science. My grandfather is a pastor and believes in the theory of evolution. Christians are people aren't some people are just jerks
If you haven't seen it yet, go on Netflix and watch "The Last Hangover"! It's a Brazilian movie, so it's in Portuguese, but it has English subtitles... absolutely hilarious!
