Why is it so strange seeing what our memes look like when they arent still images
@MILLIONSAREDEAD, if I had to guess its the same reason people get creeped out by dolls but in reverse. People dont like dolls because they look human but are slightly off. In the reverse we expect the face of our memes to remain static so when they are in motion we try to superimpose a still image on a moving frame
@Muffintitan, so like, we get so used to the facial features in that one frame so it's strange to us to see what he looks like when he does other expressions and shows other angles of his face?
@MILLIONSAREDEAD, I believe so yes. However I am by no means an expert on the human face so someone eles may provide you with a better answer.
@Muffintitan, the phenomenon with dolls is similar to clowns and is what is known as the "uncanny valley" which is the grey area between the thresholds of something looking familiar (human) and unfamiliar (inhuman) and is generally an innate instinct. It could apply to still images potentially when we are so used to a certain face etc.
@Shmay Fish, I knew their was a word for it but could not for the life of me remember what it was. Thank you kind sir.
I legit thought it was Levar Burton this whole time!!
