Once you start thinking of Apple as a fashion or design company not a tech company everything starts making more sense
@SaintBeardMan, Honestly with all of their "innovations" in the past years, they're definitely a luxury fashion company more than a tech company. While some of their products are good for office work, you can often get far superior products from other companies for a much lower price.
@SaintBeardMan, I can't up vote this enough. I never thought of that and it's genius. Even makes me hate them less. Still hate them, just less
@SaintBeardMan, agreed 100%. Apple makes beautiful products which will look amazing in any modern home. The people who need something more powerful than what apple provides will hopefully buy that.
I still buy apple products because they integrate so well together.. oh, and ForeFlight is only offered on apple products. And GarminPilot sucks ass
Yeah a $1000 stand for a $5000 display for a $6000 PC, so let's be honest of you are prepared to waste $11000 on a PC and monitor setup o doubt you have a real issue with the stand
@k1ngs4ndm4n, exactly this. And $6000 for the computer isnt even close to the top price. The next step up is $12,000. If you're the kind of person that thinks a $6000 PC and $5000 monitor are expensive then you arent their target market.
@TheWhiteWolf, for $11000 I could build a i9 9900k 128gb ram dual rtx titans and a custom watercool loop
@mega gnar, Apple is selling a monitor stand for 1k. Just the stand nothing else. Google "1k monitor stand" and bunches of results appear of them being dragged
@SaintBeardMan, oh. Thanks
@mega gnar, no problem m8
Not trying to defend Apple, but has anyone heard of Bang&Olufsen? They’re a high end audio company that makes unbelievably good looking home speakers that cost a fûcking fortune (I’m talking $10,000-$60,000 for a single speaker). There are speakers out there that sound just as good or better than Bang&Olufsen but good fücking god do they look amazing. Some people care more about the aesthetics of an item than the function and people with money to blow will buy these things
@lemongrenade, True, but apple has always tried to appeal and market to the average person and not be an exclusive type brand like the one you mention.
@lemongrenade, about 15 years ago they had a store in one of the malls, and the guy let me and my friends watch some scenes from the matrix in their sound room, and let me tell you, it was the most amazing sounding thing I've ever heard, and that was like 15 years ago, so I can only imagine what kind of technology their stuff has now
@Not him again, I went to a showcase a few months ago and heard a few of their brand new speakers, The balance on those are just otherworldly. But a good set of Polk Audio floorstanding speakers with a good tube amplifier are almost as good for $5,000 less
@RogueKnight, I was more talking about the look of the product. Some people will pay ridiculous amounts for something that looks amazing but isn’t anywhere close to the best

Sounds about right. I mean, they sold us wireless headphones then later a strap to go with them that defeated the purpose. And we (people) bought it.
My thing is the promotion for it said the mechanism was machined "from a single piece of aluminum" I don't understand how you'd do something like that, but if it were true that would explain the 1000$ price tag right there... But again, I'm pretty sure it's impossible and even if it's not, why would you ever force yourself to produce it that way.
@Pete Parker , the why is so they drum up media attention. No such thing as bad press, because at least everyone in the tech sphere is talking about the new Mac Pro and its...interesting monitor and stand.
@Pete Parker , especially since its got moving parts. Are they saying they made all the parts from one sheet then put them together? Cuz thats what everyone does. Otherwise whats the big deal
